The reiullican lectors of the
state of Nebraska are requested to
send delegates from their several
counties, to meet in convention in
the city of Lincoln. Thursday, Sep
tember 24. 1N91. at 10 o'clock a. m.,
for the purpose of placing in nomi
nation candidates for one associate
justice of the supreme court, and
two members of the board of re
gents of the state university, and to
transact such other business as
maybe presented to the convention.

to representation as follows. bein
based upon the vote cast for Hon
Geo. H. Hastings, for attorney -gen
eral in 1SUJ, giving one delegate-at
lame to each county, and one for

and defeat this cowardice and du
plicity as they did the other.
This appearance of Senator I'oyn
ter in Lincoln yesterday caused the
World-I lerald and a few others to
thinks he was going to seize the
governors chair and call a special
session of the legislature, as Gov
ernor Tha er was out of the state;
but all of their scare and hurrah
is blown to the wind as Lieutenant
GovernorjToin Majors is at h is home
near I'eru attending to his own
business and as long as he is in the
state I'oynter or no one else can
step over him and call a special
se sion while the governor is away
from the state. Tom Majors is ex
pec ted to be in Lincoln tomorrow
to attend to some matters from the I
state and Senator I'oynter s guber
national aspration will end.

tariff upon the I'nited States
worsted and woolen industries:
"The worsted oods industry has
been marked by fresh life, since the
new tariff has to a yfreat extent cut
olf the importation of the lowest
grades of such oods. All the old
factories have started up. and are
making1 goods on safe orders; and
new mills are being erected by
Kuropean and liritish capitalists
with a view to manufacturing a
liner class of dress goods, &c, than
ever before has been produced in
this country. The woolen goods
industry, apart from ladies' cloths,
does not show any perceptible
signs of improvement, but keeps on
a slow, steady gait, apart from car
petings and woolen underwear.
Both of the latter industries have
been unusually busy during the
last six months at fairly profitable
