The elemeat wero somewhat inclement, but the quorum got there with stern business countenances, knswing that their mental qualities would be severely tried by the long routine of business before them. There were pressnt Mayor Richey, Clerk Fox, Alder- men, Murphy. Dutton, McCallen, Ship- man. Jones. Connor and Salisbury. Alin- utea of previous meeting were read and approved. A communication nravinv for an ex- tension of water mains north on Eleventh from Washington avenue, with at least two fire hvdrants. was read and referred to committee on fire and water. Petitions of saloon keepers: Hans Fra- hum, John Blake, Jos. J. McVey, Wm. Krecklow, Fred Goos. Gus Ave Lau A Claus Speck, Wm. Weber and Nick Cun ningham, were referred to license com mittee.
