T day tlie Herald is reliably informed that April 1st, the whole "Q"' sybteni will adopt the eight hour plan of labor. A few of the ehop men have bt-cn heard to express themselves as pleased with the short hours, while others want to got in all the time they can. On the part of the public, generally, it seems to be regarded as a bt-nt-ticial move to any sober, intelligent and industrious laborer. Though the labor element is agitut'ng this manner of employment in many parts of the country, the "(2" takes the step, because the tightness of work does not demand ten hours from its employes. The effect of this plan of employment will be watched nitU eager interest throughout the land. Louisville. Philip Hoover of Yuma, Colorado, is visiting his parents and friends this week. Everybody is in vited. The farmers are through sowing their oats, a greater acreage of small grain is being put in this spring than has been for several years previous. Sunday school will ba organized in this place next Sunday. Let us all turn out and have a good school. It will do us more good than running foot races and other similar sports. One of Mr. James Jenkins' finest marcs received, Sunday evening last, two fear ful cuts on the left fore leg, one just above the knee and the other in the muscles of the leg by running into the barbed wire fence. Mr. Samuel Barker purchased of Mr. A. L. Wills last week a bunch of fat cat tle at 3.S0 per hundred to le deliyered any time between this and the first of June to suit purchaser. Mr. Barker also purchased of Mr. Soap Wills a bunch of cattle at 3.50 and 3.73 to be delivered on same conditions as above. Mr. Richard son, also Mr. P. Perry and others have sold or contracted their fat cattle to Mr. Samuel Barker. Lily. Republican Primaries and Con vention. A delegate convention of republicans will be held in Rockwood hall, Satur day evening, March 30, 1?8., at 8 o'clock for the purpose of nominating two members of the school board and other busiuess that may come before the convention. On a basis of one vote for every 15 and major fraction thereof cast for presi dential election. The different wards are entitled to the following representa tion: First ward 9 delegates. Second ward 8 delegates. Third ward 18 delegates. Fourth ward 13 delegates. Fifth ward 5 delegates. PRIMARIES. The different ward primaries will be at the following designated places on Friday evening, March 29, at 7:30 o'clock: First ward, council chamber. Second ward, school house. Third ward.
