Va Nov 19 Alex ander Messer, one of the noted Hatfield murderers, was arrested ami taken to police heudquartes Saturday nit;ht by detective Gibson, of Eureka. Messnea is one of the gng who took the three McCoy boys out of jail in August 1882 tied them to trees and shot them to death. lie left the country and was lost sight of until ab-mt two weeks ago. Messer is about fifty-two years old and his wife and six children are living in Lincoln county. lie was at one time deputy sheriff of Perry county, Kentucky, and was very prominent in the Hrethete county, Kentucky, trouble several years aero. lie is said to have killed several men there.
