woolen oods have attracted the attention
of members of the organization. For the
purpose of looking after such underval
uation, the secretary of the treasury, it is

the government, the manufacturers to
pay his salary.

ate yesterday a bill was introduced pro
viding the deatli penalty shall hereafter
lie inflicted by electricity. This act, be
sides the mode of execution, makes other
important changes in the existing law.
The judg ; shall name tho week during
which the execution shall take place (to
be not less than four nor more than eight
weeks from the date of sccntence) and
within tho week so designated the sheriff
of the county shall select a day, not pre
vioiifly to be made known to any one
except the persons allowed to be present
at the execution. The corpse subsecp.int
ly must be buried with enough quicklime
to consume it, or be given up for dissect
ing purposes. The newspapers are pro
hibited from reporting the execution fur
ther thau a bans mention of the cyent.
The Aurora, Ms., Zinc Discovery.

Nat Huntington, a member of the "Wyom

Heiixdox, la., Feb. 13. Men cngiged
in digging a well here struck gas yester
day at a depth of 125 feet. It is the big
gest gas well of any in the vicinity and
several wells have already been found.
The noise of the escaping gas was heard
two miles away, and when lit tho gas
flamed up thlrty-iive feet.
The Crown Prince's Condition.
San Remo, Feu. 15. It is stated that
the crown prince's absolute inability to
sleep last night has dismayed his physi
cians, who arc unable to agree upon &
course of treatment suitable to the change
in his symptoms.
