He has been promoted from yard engineer on Xo, 22, to the fast freight, and yesterday made his first regular run from Pacific Junc tion to Lincoln, which is a much better run than the boys usually get on being released from the yards. A wreck occurred thi3 morning at McPaul, about twenty miles south of Pacific Junction, which resulted in the death of one man, and delayed the train from that direction. From what was re- lated to TnE Herald it appears that the early K. C. passenger came in to McPatl on fhe time of the regular freight and in the darkness and fog the passenger was not discovered by the freight in time to stop and the back train crashed into the sleeper, killing one man. The train ar rived in Plattsmouth two hours and five minutes late, but without the sleeper, which must have been badly used up. AROUND TOWN. It seems that the Plattsmouth Driving Park Association, which was incorporated in IfseO, never issued any shates of stock but only gave receipts, which were voted on heretofore and accepted ns though they were actually shares. Dr. Mercer and five or six others, who were friends of his and work in his interests, purchased luiing the last summer two hundred and seventy-seven receipts or shares of stock, of diil'erent stockholders, which would leave two hundred and twenty-three feh arcs or receipts represented by the bal ance of the stockholders. Yesterday be ing the day of the annual meetiug for the election of the officers of the associa tion, Dr. Mercer camo down the night before and endeavored to find out what hour the meeting would be held the next day and where, but was unable to do so. In the meantime, however, shares of stock had been hastily printed and signed up yest; iday morning and it was given out that the minority stockholders would in sist upon the stock being delivered only to w hat the books showed were the origi nal owners of the stock and would not be delivered to the parties holding re ceipts for the stock; also that they would not be allowed to vote unless they had thus;' shares transferred from the parties who originally subscribcel for them. On learnrug this Dr. Mercer took his receipts and demanded his shares of stock which was il itly refuseel. It was further learned during the forenoon by the doctor that the meeting would be held at 8 o'clock that night. Mr. M. A. Ilartigan, the old sec t tary, was then requested by Dr. Mer cer, to call the meeting so it might be held in the day time, as was contemplat eel by the laws, which request was re fused by Mr. Ilartigan. Dr. Mercer then notified Mr. Ilartigan that a meeting of the stockholders would be held nt the of fice of Covell & Polk, at two o'clock in the afternoon, and written notices were sent to the different stockholders in the city notifying them of the meeting. The meeting was then held as per call in Co yell ?: Polk's office whereiu two hundred anel seventy-seven shares of the stock was represented. The president and vice-president being absent, Dr. Mercer was culled to the chair, when by vote of the stockholders present the following officers were electee!: O. II. Ballou, president; Milton D. Polk, secretary; George E. Dovey, treasurer. Boarel of Directors: Dr. S. D. Mercer, O. II. Bal lou, M. D. Polk, L. C. Mercer and W. G. Mercer. After transacting some busi ness the meeting of the stockholders was adjourned and a meeting of the Biard os Directors was then held wherein M. D. Polk was elected chairman, and on motion an executive committee was ap pointed consisting of O. II. Ballou, A. B. Todd and Geo. E. Dovey. After the transaction of some other business the meeting adjourned. 7d et ing No.2 was held at Mr. Hartigan's office. Mr. Gorder taking the chair at nine o'clock as president, M. A. Ilartigan acting as secretary. After reading the minutes of the special meetings for the year Mid the transaction of 'some other bii-sin ss, the following officers were elected: Fred.
