Two Interesting Cases.
The docket for the December term of
the district court which open9 Monday,
Dec. 5, for this county, is out. There
are 122 cases on the docket, eight of
which are divorce cases,
criminal case.

Two of the civil cases are of great in
terest to the citizens of Plattsmouth, aud
each of them is the outcome of interest.
The first is a suit from A. K. Alexan

an enthusiastic democrat would tell how
the democrats of Nebraska were eating
the republicans up. The official couut
of the vote of the state shows Judge
Maxwell's plurality over O'Day, his pop
ular democratic opponent, to be ;50,177.

Died: Sonhia Hauer, daughter of
John Bouer, died last evening at p. m.
of typhoid fever. She was 13 years 5
months and 2G days of age. The funer
al will occur tomorrow rnorniug at 10
o'clock from the family residence on the
corner of Vine and Sixth streets, all
friends of the family being inviUd to
attend. One very sad feature of the
death is the severe illness of the mother
and two other children with the same

thy of the community.

A considerable number of officers of th

new story was circulated. It was that of a
poor Old invalid lady who was offered a nice
homp, for the rest of her life as soon as she
had collected the million stamps, Then peo
ple went around collecting stamps for the
benefit of the mythical old lady. The craze
soon died out. It was always supposed to
imcn hpn originated by dealers who took
this way of booming the trade in used post
age stamps. The button fad followed. No
one seemed to know how many buttons had
to h collected on a string before the task was
accomplished. It ranged from 1,000 to 1,000,
000, according to the success of the collector.
Whilo the fever lasted many a fond father
went to work in the morning with his clothes
pinned on. The last craze was for business
o-irria It was almost universally followed,
but soon died out. Fortunes were made and

O. A. Stevens relates in The Los Angeles
Tribune that some years ago ho met Rev. Dr.
Edward Eggleston in Switzerland, and went
