Said an enthusiastic republican yes terday evening: "One thing i3 already demonstrated in this campaign to a certainty, and that is, if ihe democratic party had to nominate a candidate again with its present knowledge of Cleve land it would never touch him." "Why?" we asked. 'it"MU3', saM In1, "the whole thing. is flit. They can't get up any enthusi asm anywhere;" and this is unques tionably true. A few weeks of this camt-aian have demonstrated the fact hat Cleveland is not the inspiriting candidate his party believed him to be when he was named at Chicago. The political skies are clear and promiiing for ihe nominees of the re puhlican party. From every quarter comes cheering news for Blaine and Dogan. Especially in the close states, where democrcatic chance of pucccsa exists, there is a decided movement amonf the laboring dasaf-S of democ- racy toward the support of the republi- Reliable authority iu New Jersey, Indiana and New York, indicates this to be the fact. In Buffalo, Gov. Cleve land's home, the strongest democratic wards contain the heaviest Blaine and Logan club?, and these clubs are large- .y made up of Irish democrats and la boring men. At a democratic ratification meeting at Hot Spriugs, Arkansas, the other evening. Senator Farley, of California conceded California to the republicans.
