Th. teport was adopted without op position. Severrl gentlemen claimed attention but the chair recognized Ogden, who moved that the teiui o-ary organiza tion ba made permancut, which was carried. A delegate uioved that the conven tion proceed to ballot for four dele gates at large, which Ogden moved to amend by waiting five minutes for the report of the committee. The vote on the amendment was doubtful, aud a di vision w&9 called for. John I. lteddick attempted to speak, and ' considerable clamor ensued, wifcu calls to order. The chair ordered a call of the counties, which used up the time, and resulted for the amendment 178, against 100. The committee on resolutions aoon returned and leportcd as follows: We, the delegates of the democratic party of the state of Nebraska, in con vention assembled, submit the follow ing platform ot reforms and measures : First We demand a vigorous fru gality in every department and from every officer of the government, and we heartily concur in the seutimeut "that no reform of administration is possible so.long as the government is directed by a parly which is under the dominion of false doctrine , aud ani mated by enormocs pecuniary inter ests in ti e perpetuation of existing abuses That the first effec.ual teu iu the reform of our government must be a fundamental change m the policy of its administration. Second That in view of the umqual and discriminating operation of "he existing tariff and the, an just and ex cessire burdens imposed upon t'.o peo ple, we are in favor of a isvkioi which shall limit' it to the irodue tion of the ne.essary revenues of the government econoailca'ly adminis tered. Resolved, That our fathers under the lead of Thomas Jefferson rescued our republic from the control of federalism and t : alien and sedition laws of the elder Adams, so will the democratic party ot 1884, if united, hurl the re publican party from power and re elect Samuel J. When Otoe came to ote she return ed the compliment by leaving Boyd Oat, and theie was another clapping of hands and shouting. Saundem and Seward cut bojd one aud three votes iepec:iely. Thayer gave Boyd no votes. These about offset the nineteen votes thai Mortou failed to get in Douglas. The nominations were made unani mous. When the successful names had been called by the chairman there was a shout for Boyd, who took the platform and spoke at some length. The most noticeable feature was conservatism on the tariff questieu. James . North, Q. W Johnson, B. L Hiuman and Charles J. Bowlby were elected alternates by acclamation.
