The convention was culled to order

name of Church Howe, of Nemaha.
1 S. Hoscall presented the name ol
Champion S. Chate, of Douglas.
The chair man proceeded to call the
roll, and the ballot was takeu with the
following result:

As the vole progressed, cheers greet

jailed it was a foregone conclusion
that he was elected.
At the conclusion of the vote, Colo
uel Chase made a few remarks apropii

that the elecliou of Church Howe he
made unanimous.
Mr. Howe came forward, wad intro
duced by Chairman Dotsey, aud ac
cepted the trust in a Uriel sentence of
thanks.
W. II. Michael, of Grand Island, was
eleutid temporary pecretary-
J. C McBride, of Lancaster, moved
the appointment of a committee on cre
dentials. Chairman Dorsey suggested that the
central committee had prepared a full
list of delcgats, there being on contents
aud suggested that it be substituted
fo r the report of the committee.
Col. Chase moved that the temporary
organization be made permanent. Car

In this ballot Gage was passed, and
at the end voted for Griggs. At each
interval between ballots the convention
grew more animated, but up to this
time uo impatience had been express
ed, though it was evident that many
delegates were becoming anxious to see
the dead-lock broken, lhe caucusing
grew lively, but the eighth ballot start
ed off in the stereotyped way. It rt'

followed, Lancaster going solidly with
twenty tour votes for Reese. Amid
tremendous enthusitsm the nomination
of Reese was made unauimoua.
