Complete Details of Yester day's Storm. Cass eouuty has never experienced such a visitation from the elements as that of yesterday; a strip of country twenty miles in length and from eight to iweive nuies in wiutn is in rum. True there are isolated places scattered through tliis territory where the des Unction has not been as complete as iu the main, but it i.i all a scene of deso latiou. Men who looked yesterday morning upon waving fields of golden grain, ripe lor the harvest, ana upon magnificent fields of growing corn, to day see only barren fields with every vestige of crops destroyed. It is indeed a forry day for hundreds of our farm ers. The IIekbld presents above a map of thecourty and the storm dis tnct; that portion of the county in black, represents the slorm district, and one million dolHr would not com pensate the inhabitants of that district for their 1os?ph. From Die bct reports to be gained we place th w.--.t limit of the storm on a Hue rimnin-. from South Bend village "oitth by L'u;s Eikhoff's, down ea.?t of Weeping Water, about a mile and a half, nnd from thence south-east to the county line, including the Sheldon's and Pollard's, and thecountrj' ad"lacent t.i Xehawka P. O. The east line of the destructive pari of the storm may be described on a line east from a mile east of Cedar Creek south by John Be -kens', W. It. Murray's. The Carroll neighborhood in Hock Bluffs precinct nd dowu in Liberty, below Union P meager reports received, locate the storm further south, well down in Otoe county. To describe the storm is an impossibility. Shutters were uo protection to win dows. The hail destroyed glass and sash, and in many instances drove through the houses, breaking windows ou the east side. In the centre of the storm belt, hail went through siding on houses like shot. Trees are stripped of their foilagc, bark pulled from limbsf which stand naked and bare in the sunlight. There are many people in from the country, each with his own experience to relate, and many with tears in their eyes relate the loss of their all. The following accouuts from our special correspondents, relate graphic Iy, the ruin that haa been wrought, and the reports complete as they are, can not begin to adequately relate the rav ages that the storm has wrought. AT THREE GROVES. From our special Kepoiter, Today at 11 o'clock a. in., this sec tion was visited by one of the worst hailstorms that tuo oldest settlers ever experienced in Xebraska, and very sel dom ia other states, and to be hoped will Dever take place again. All fore noon a cioud could be seen gradually rising iu the north and west, accom panied by distant mumbling thunder; not inucli attention was given to it un til aboiti 10 o'eiock a very heavy and dense blaeit cloud was seen to be ap proaching in the noitlnve.sl, moving slowly as was thought around to th north. In a very short period of time the cloud changed its course, moving directly west and south and still draw ing closer; it was now evident that a terrible storm of wind ami ialn, proba bly hail was upon us from the appear ance of the cloud and with the rapidity that it was moving, it seemed impossi ble and a miracle for it to pass without destruction to growing crops iu sonw form. A lew minutes pan 11 o'clock, the wind began to blow and the hail to fall accouipuuied with a heavy rain, as the storm advanced the hail increased in size and number and at the rate the wind was blowing with great rapidity. In U-ss time than it takes to write this, the beautiful green corn and the ripen ing small grain was swept away like the morning dew, nothing being Jeft whatever only the stubs. After the storm had abated to some extent the reporter started out to prospect, going west to ascertain or sec how much damage had been done. It almost baf fles us to describe ou paper really how the storm was or the extent of thedam age. Out two or three miles in the vi cinity of Anderson Hoots and Win L. Lloyds, we find the storm struck with greater fury than here cutting every thing to the ground in its course. The cornfields where one hour before stood the waving corn, waist high, was now but a naked and black looking field, not even a stub or weed to bs seen in places. The small grain is all cut to nieces and beet into the ground- -The leaves are all stripped from the hedge, and trees arc as leafless as in winter. the weed alonz the roadside are all beaten down looking a3 if a mowing machine had been at work; in tact all vegetation is ruined, and uo prospect for a crop of corn or Bir.all grain under any circumstances, ine orcnams ?.re greatly damaged, the trees being stripped of quite all the fruit, unless where protected by trees being cut and barked up Several chickens and hogs were killed in the neighborhood, We learned of one vearling clf lynng 1 killed, besides birds and Kpjirn 1?, mil in one instance a crow dead. Jim Root wad out in all the fctonu, received sonic very severe bruises and came very neir having a wrist bioken by a lrge hail stone. Scott Hare took in all the storm and received some largo lumps on the head and body. Several teams ran away, but in yet we have not learned of any injury to ;uiounito much. All the window lights on the l north and east fide of buildings were broken out. J. H. Moore had forty- , eight broken. From what can be kurucd the storm was lighter at U ck Bluffs and vicinity than here, .ii id how for west i; extended we are unable to say but probably several miles, from ail ac couhXp. Our mail carrier is reported lost, and has not been seen since the slorm. lie pas&ed Jim Wiley's today a few minutes before Hie rain, oiug towaid the postoflice ;t short distance north of the Three Groves postoflice. leside the road his hat and a gum overcoat was found. Where the carrier is remains a mystery, anil not explained as yet. It is supposed his team iau away, going south, lowuru Lnio,i. Dili gent bcarch is being made in that vi cinity for him at this writing, i What the farmers are goiiiJ to do is hard to explain. It is loo late to pi.inr corn again to make auj llun; but l-d der. borne say they won't do any tiling more, and give right up; others s-y that they will plant tlieir ground in something, or keep trying, and it will only take time to tell what will be done, and how much. Since writing the above we Ii:iv learned that the storm was equally as bud down at Union, nnd how far south did iot learn. Three miles south of Plattsmouth tlie hail was light an-t here we see the first corn that :n po- sib'y make anythiug at all. Tlie above is onlyabr.ef descrip tion of the damage, for it is more than we can do to make out tlie real dauing--) done. From oi.r Special Correspondent. The hail storm yesterbay proved more destructive in Cass county than the worst fears of our citizens at first an ticipated. The JlKitALn's correspond ent took diive of some fifteen miles this ibren .on through :md over the track ( litis storm, and hurriedly con- verse'i with mauv ctti. -ns icsiuius in the wake of the destroyer. Starting Foulh from tlie eiiy we came upon tho edge of the destroyed district at the residence of Wm 1 1. Mr. Spangler had just commenced reaping his rye yesterday morning when the storm broke upon him; he says fce considers Ids ero?i a to- ; tal loss; south of this we came upon i Joshua Gapeii, John Johnson, Frank loung, Wiles, llesser, cieramens, we were informed that all uitnat uirectio.i south to the Otoe county line, is com pletely destroyed.
