application, namely, that of foretelling
storms. A new discovery has been made
as to one of the properties of thin menus
of transmitting sound. By placing two
iron burs at seven or eight meters dis
tance from each other, and then putting
them in communication on one side by a
copper wire covered with rubber, and ou
the other side with a telephoue, a storm
