Among many other good things on the
pr'eraai were addresses by the different
pastel's of York, Lincoln and Omaha;
and it seems to us one of the best things
concerning the C. E. movement is to hear
the pastors' testimonies of their thankful
ncss that the society has been organized
to help them in their work, and they
realize it is verv much to their interest to
aid the society iu every way. In tbt
qu-st'r -n box of Wednesday afternoon,
one of the questions read: " What shall
the societies do where the pastors are not
irterested i:i tho work i ' and the answer
cam'- strong from our conductor, " Pray
for t'a in that tl: y liiiv become interest
ed." The tn .-; --anr-Nt lo-. timrs of all
were tho !:0 a. in. pi aver meetings.
There was ;i full attendance buth morn
ings. One of the most interesting features of
the program was a paper by II. E. Greg
ory, of Neligh. showing thf growth of
the ". P. Sf C. E. in Xebi i-ka. The first
society was organized nt N'lir!i in 1??:,
since tha time we have organized a state
union, with a present membership of 52
societies. At the firt convention held
at Weeping Water three yeais ago there
were thirteen delegates present. and the in
crease this v ar surely shows that the S. of
j C. E. is here to stay.

From Thursday's Daily.
C. II. Collins it was supposed by many
since his sudden disappearance, had
passed in his checks, but such is not the
case. He secured the sympathy of the
majority of the people here, as they sup
posed he had been waylaid or illtreated
iu some mysterious way. It was reported
several weeks ago that he was seen on a
train which was pulling out from Omaha,
but many treated it with contempt. A
dispatch which was received here from
him to his wife, confirms the report. The
dispatch was dated at Shreveport, La.,
and it stated that he was en route for the
Ft. Forth & Texas shops. It also stated
that a letter would fedlow the telegram
The message was forwarded to his wife
this morning, and we have not as yet
received any further information, and
we did not learn how she accepted the
news. lie will Certainly find the Texas,
Ft. Worth & Texas shops a pleasanter
location for himself than the B. & M
shoos here would be at preseut. Xo
doubt this news will cause a collission in
the minds of many, and a most reproach
ful feding will take the place of tin
vmoathies entertained. After this
length of time, lie must be possessed of
an educated nerve to forward a message
to his wife after being the cause of un
bounded trouble and anxiety. By th
manner in which he had conducted him
self while in her company ever as at
tentive as he appeared to be many
could entertain no suspicions of any such
degradation on his part, and now since
this newsh.as been received from him, he
would not fiud a very welcome reception
in this city should he ever return.
