ber of the Lyceum company, returns to the
stage next season and will be seen in one of
Charles Frohman's companies.
Young J. K. Emtnett Is in New York rest
ing after his wonderfully successful tour.
He has a new play built around "FrlU"
which ho will produce next season,
Wm. H. Hoyden, Stuart Robson's mana
ger, has bought ten acres of laud adjoining
Portland, Oregon. A town will bo built on
it which will be called Haydenville.
The application of Mrs. McKeo Rankin
for alimony in her suit for divorce, has been
refused by the Ban Francisco court, which
thinks she is in a position to support hersolf.
Mr. Joseph Haworth will next week ap
pear at the Harlem opera house In "St.
Marc," "Ruby Bias" and "The Bells." He
has been very successful during this season.
W. U. Palmer, jr., a nephew of A. M.
Palmer, has organized a company of players
to travel on bicycles. They will be known aa
the Palmer Blcyclo Tourists, and will begin
at New Rochelle, May 0, J with a musical
comedy entitled "Love on Wheels."
Dan Rice, tho old circus manager, has un
dertaken to teach Nellie McIIenry to ride
bare-back, and In the near future Miss Mo
Henry will end her new play, "A Night at
the Circus," by dancing on tho back of her
pretty white horse, while he gallops around
the stage.
The question as to the origin of tha famous
song, "Ta-ra-ra Boom de-ay," has become
one of national Importance, and the follow
ing account of its origin comes all the way
from London: Mr. Gilbert, father of the
famous sculptor, Mr. Alfred Gilbert, com
posed an opera In which tho refrain occurred
iu 1854. An Amorioau gentleman saw the
core and said he should like to have it.
The composer consented, and it was only the
other day, when on a visit to the Grand the
ater, ho recognized his own composition.

Creede, nothing yesterday, it Is a town to
day and will be a city tomorrow. Many a

camp has practically existed only since last
May. Tho D. Si R. U. Ry. did not get in
until October, and regular passenger trains

extraordinary output has come from exactly
five mines, and one of them has shipped only

front was old gold. Tha buttons were
flat, iridescent mother-of-pearl.
Tho other gown was of bluo foulard,
with red und black dots, and dark blue
Henrietta, with three rows of castle
braid as trimming. Theso are both
simplo and effective. ,
