programme the time was given up to social
entertainment, playing new and Interesting
games. At 11:00 p. m. the gathering broke
up and all went away feeling that the occas
ion was one long to lie rememlwred.
One of the moat enjoyable parties of the
season was given by Mr. and Mr. Frank
Clyce at their home Twenty-eighth and Q
treetalast Thursday evening. Progressive
high Ave was the principal amusement, the
game being carried on until after midnight.
Mr. W. H. Benton and Mrs. 11. B. Bawjor
won the prises A choice collation waa served
during the latter part of tho evening. Those
present were: Messrs, mid Moidamca B. Hum
phrey, W.H. Benton. I.E Johnson, H.B.Kaw
yer, C. F. Barras, J, Ulster, E. L. Holy
oke, Mr. II. M. Brice, Mrs. Bolby, Misse

ticeable features waa the elegant bouquets
which adorned the aoveral room.
A pleasant party of friend were eutei

and Mrs. Joseph Wurgburg, Mr. and Mrs. W.
B. Hamilton, Mr. nntl Mrs. Charles R. Allan,
Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Rudge, Mr. and Mrs. Will
McArthur, Mr. and Mrs. Qeorgo Hale, of
Mexico; Mr. James Miller, Mr. and Mrs. H.
V. Hoagland, Mr. and Mrs. 1). E. Green,
Mr. and Miss Battle Huntington of Chicago,

evening, Mrs. 0. II. Rudge, D.E. Green mid

wero served, after which vocal and instrum
ental music and dancing were in order,

on last Saturday evening. Progressive high

freshments furnished the amusement for the

J. H. Duncan was eighty-seven years old
yesterday and In honor of the event a num
ber of relatives and friends gave him a pleas
ant surprise at 1230 R street. Among the
guests being two daughters from abroad,
Mrs. J. F. Copelsn of Atchison, Kan., and
Mrs. J. H, Bradley of Marabaltowu, Iowa.
The evening waa a delightful social success
and ouo that the hall and hearty old gentle
man fully appreciated. Mr, Duncan is the
father of Mrs. Keu D. Blnford.
The Tuesday Evening Club will be enter
tained Monday evening at The L incoln by
the "homeless" young men of the club; In
addition to the regu.ar literary programme

Thomas Brown, the caterer, mourns the loss
of hi aged mother. Mr. Brown was nearly
sixty-five j ears old but her last days wero nl
