A Poem
From Mrs. Eby...
IN ME MARI UM
In our last World War the thought
oft expressed,
We are fighting this war to make
all wars supressed.
Many brave boys laid down their
lives we know,
With that thought in mind, “Yes
we're willing to go.”
And the sacrifice was heroically
made,
Laying down their lives for that
truth unafraid.
I wonder if they could see our
world today,
With its hatreds and fighting if
they might be tempted to say.!
Was the sacrifice worth it that
all wars should end.
Now they are fighting colors and
nations, blaming even their
friends.
We know colored lads died in
the trenches with us,
As brave as the best of us with
out any fuss.
Their blood was just like ours,
left in Flanders we know.
And for the self same cause they
were willing to go.
If from their vantage point they
could only see another war in
the making still to set men
free.
Oh! while there is time let's
right about face.
And not leave our war heros j
lives in disgrace.
There’s only one way to end on
this earth,
That’s by letting God have, His
way giving men a new birth.
