Connie Bowlby Weds DeLynn Pickering In Ceremony at Lynch Connie Bowlby, daughter of Mrs. Diis Bowlby, became the bride of Delwyn DeLynn Picker ing, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Pickering, Lynch, May 16, at the First Methodist church. Lynch. The Rev. John Neal officiated at the 6:30 candlelight ceremony. Sharie I»wer, played the tra ditional wedding march. Jean Mulhair sang "1 Love You Truly” and “The Wedding Prayer”. The bride given in marriage by her uncle, wore a fltx>r length white chantilly lace gown. It fea tured a sahrina neckline and fit ted V Ixxiice with long sleeves coming to a bridal point at the wrist. The bouffant skirt was chant illy lace over slipper satin, llcr nylon net finger tip veil was trimmed with imported lace and it hung from a rhinestone tierra. Her only jewelry was a pearl necklace and earrings, a gift of the groom. Sharon Christensen, the maid of honor wore a light peach dress and carried a bouquet of white carnations trimmed with peach tulle. The bridesmaid, Patricia McKenzie wore an identical dress in light blue and also carried carnations. Virginia Pinkerman and Tony Bowlby acted as flower girl and ring hearer. Quentin Pickering was his bro ther’s host man. Ushers were Monty Pickering and Douglas McKenzie. Following the ceremony, a re ception was held at the Legion hall. Mrs. Clyde McKenzie cut ihe wedding cake. The guests were registered by Mrs. Mary Ann Revell. Mrs. Jessie Ehr hardt, Mrs. Betty Christensen and Mrs. Mary Jane Stewart, poured. Gloria Retzlaff, Cathy Hrbek and Nancy Shaw were in charge of the gift table. For her wedding trip, the bride chose a brown suit dress with matching accessories. Mr. and Mrs. Pickering are both graduates of Lynch High school, lie attended Sioux City Barber college. After a short honeymoon the couple will make their home in Lynch. Hospital Notes ST. Elsmere, were dinner guests at the Keller home Tuesday. They delivered four bulls to the Kellers which Air. Keller had purchased recently. Rolland Thurlow, Gerold O'Con nell and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Klinger and children were dinner guests at the Mark Hendricks home on Sunday. In the afternoon the boys started walking to the Kid Wade Canyon. The rest of the group met them later and en joyed exploring the canyon again. Mr. and Airs. Frank Sicheneder were dinner guests at the Jim Sicheneder home Sunday. Mrs. Vic Frickel visited with Airs. Mark Hendricks Friday. Air. and Mrs. Alilton McKath nie and children attended the school picnic of district 89 on Sunday afternoon. It was held at the school house. Mrs. Milton AlcKathnie, a teach er at Dist. 89 and Mrs. Lou Hav ranek took the children of grades five through eight on an extended tour this past week. They went from the school first to the Twin Buttes, then on to Gregory. S. D. where they visited at the Soper Museum, then on to Reliance and saw the TV station, then through Chamberlain and on to Mitchell. S. D. where they view ed tiie Com Palace from the out side as it was not open that day. They also visited the TV station where they watched a TV pro gram being put on. They also visited a museum there, but it was closed so they were content ed with looking through the win dows and saw a number of in teresting tilings. Then they re turned home by way of Fort Randall, a tired but happy group. For arithmetic the next day the pupils had to figure up the mile age of their trip. Mrs. Natchel Rzeszotarski drove a car to take a load of young folks from the St. Joseph High School, to Long Pine for their picnic on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Natchel Rzeszo tarski and children were dinner guests of her mother, Mrs. Ber tha Gonderinger on Mothers Day. Michelle Rzeszotarski helped serve the Junior-Senior banquet Wednesday night and then spent the night with her grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Gonderinger. Charles Shane finished listing com at the Rzeszotarski farm on Thursday and Friday. Mrs. Shane and the children visited at the Rzeszotarski home in the after noon. Mrs. Natchel Rzeszotarski and Michele attended the annual pic nic of the Catholic Daughters at the Don Krysl home on Sunday. Mrs Rzeszotarski saiH it had been twenty years since she had visited that community and so she saw a great number of changes that have been taking place. Tommy Rzeszotarski spent Sun day with his grandmother Mrs. Bertha Gonderinger. Then on Monday he attended the school picnic of the St. Joe grade school at the Elmer Olberding home. Mr. and Mrs. E. Dale, Danny and Darrel Fo cken visited with Dennis Col fack Sunday p.m. Mrs. Duke Hoffman sent cake and ice cream to the church where the Walther League were meeting. The cake was in honor of Roger Hoffman’s fifteenth birthday which was the fifteenth of May. Then on Thursday Ed Hoffman and Mrs. Iva Deseive w-ere supper guests at the Hoff man home in honor of the same birthday. The high spot of the evening were the birthday cakes, an angel food and a sponge cake which were baked by Roger’s brother. Gary, who is taking cake and pie making in 4-H nowr. There are a number of boys in tiie Celia 4-H club that are taking up the art of cooking. The girls had better be watching their Ps and Qs or they will be losing out. The boys won't be needing cooks maybe. Several from this community attended the 8th grade gradua tion exercises in O'Neill. They were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Chaf fin and Linda, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hendricks and Arlin. Mrs. Emma Colfack. Darrel and Dale Focken. The Celia 4-H club met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thilo Poessnecker on Friday night All the members were present, tbo due to the graduation exercises and the home chores afterwards some were a little late. The dub voted to give S5 to the Park Playground equipment fund in Atkinson. After the business meet ing they played a number of games and sang songs. The next meeting will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Vic Frickel with the Junior leaders in charge of the recreation. Mrs. Duke Hoffman and Gary attended the awards presentation program in Atkinson Tuesday evening. Mrs. Duke Hoffman has con tracted to teach the District 180 school next term. This is the school just two miles north of Atkinson. Mrs. Alex Frickel and children visited at the Joe and Felix I^aible homes Sunday. Joan Straka visited at the home of Nancy Beck Sunday and at tended Nancy's school picnic. Then on Monday Joan and Eddie Straka attended the St. Joe grade school picnic at Elmer Olber dings. The Mariners class of the Wes leyan Methodist church met at the home of Charles Chaffin for the regular monthly party. Sick ness kept a large numl>er of the class at home. Bruce Hoffman accompanied Don Frickel to Atkinson from Fort Robinson, near Crawford, where they have been for the past month in school in connec tion with their work. Mrs. Hoff man has been visiting her par ents, the Leonard Chaffins while they were gone. Mrs. Chaffin then took Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman to their home at Pratt, Kan. Sat urday and returned home Sunday evening. She stopped at Red Cloud where she attended church services Sunday morning. The beginners baking class of the Celia 4-H club met at the Vic Frickel home Monday for their I class in Jr. cooking. Sickness and I other things kept several of them at home. Those in attendance were Bonnie Frickel, Theresa Kilmurry, Kay and Darrel Mc Kathnie. Patricia Kilmurry was a guest. Mrs. Vic Frickel is their instructor. Frances Poessnecker was a weekend guest at the Vic Frickel home and was also one of the girls in the cooking class Mon day. Mrs. Bruce Hoffman visited with Mrs. Richard Klinger Mon day afternoon. Carpenter Nearly 75 guests were present at the annual spring meeting of the Extension clubs held Tues-1 day p.m. in the parlors of the Methodist church. Five club of the Chambers center were repre sented. Mrs. George Fullerton, group chairman was in charge of j the meeting. Mrs. Jim Jarman registered the guests. As each la dies name was recorded she was given a sheet on which were sev eral games. Prizes were award ed for first, second and third on these as follows; Mrs. Vera Sa geser, Mrs. C. V. Robertson and Mrs. Lorenzo Harrington. On exhibit were table arrange ments, made by the various clubs, showing party ideas. These ranged from baby showers, birthdays and teas to all the months of the year, weddings and other special occasions and were very attractive. A group of High school girls, Betty Hericl. Debbie Eisenhauer. Peggy Ger kie, Darla Waldo and Elaine Dankert sang “You Belong to Me." and “Catch a Falling Star". Lana Otter, pianist. Also on the program was a comedy reading entitled “Three Blind Mice", by Mrs. Freddie Bollwirt. Holt County Home Demonstra tion agent, Mrs. Catherine Indra. presented an interesting demon stration showing many different table decorations made of sim ple objects found about the home. Center pieces for many special occasions as well as for each month was shown. Indra showed slide* on Meat cookery in other countries. Refreshment* of cof fee and cookie* were served at the close of Uie me#ung and a social time enjoyed. Baccalaureate services for the Chambers school was held Sun day evening in the High School Auditorium. The processional was played by Lana Otter. Escorting Uie Seniors to their seats were Gary Fagan and Darla Waldo. The message, also the invocation and benediction was given by the Rev. D. L. On Thurs day, Mr. and Mrs Henry Walter, DeWitt came and were overnight guests in the Robertson home. Mr. Carson presented these awards. Pep Club special recognition awards went to Betty Hertel and Elaine Whiting. Mr. Baughn pre s^i.ted these. The Annual Staff awards were presented to Jim Kruse, Roger Waldo and Judy Smith. Mr. Mc Keever presented these. A citizenship award, present ed by the American Legion Aux iliary was to Jim Kruse. Mr Baughn presented it for the Aux iliary. Mrs. Raymond Beed with her co-hostess, Mrs. Glen Grimes, en tertained the Valley Center Ex tension club in the former’s home Friday p.m. Only 10 of the members were present. The president, Mrs. Melvin Bell, con ducted the business session. Roll call was answered by ‘‘A Fav orite Meat Dish,”. Mrs. D. K Miller and Mrs. Cora Thomson reported on the St Anthony hos pital auxiliary meeting they had attended. They mentioned that the hospital was in need of Childrens books and late copies of Readers Digest. The group discussed whether or not to ar range a booth at the County Fair; also a gift to the Children's Memorial hospital, Omaha. The lesson, ‘‘Meat, Selection, Care and Cooking”, was present ed by Mrs. Beed and Mrs. Lloyd Wintermote. They demonstrated the making of Stroganoff, Beef burgers and Kabobs. She is reported un proving. Mr. and Mrs. E R. Carpenter spent Thursday at the- Park Cen ter Cemetery west of Elgin. This was "Clean up Day” for Uie community and the group enjoy ed a picnic dinner in the church bas<-mem at noon. Present also was Mr Carpenter's brother and wife, Mr and Mrs F. S. Car penter, Omaha. The Summerer school with Mrs. Jenelle Sisson teacher, held their last day of school with a picnic, Sunday, May 12 The Mar tha school taught by Mrs. Ken neth LaKue, held their picnic May 19th. Mrs. Henry Wood visited re cently for several days in the home of her daughter ami son in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Howe and family, Fremont She reports that the Howe’s young son, Charlie, who had been very ill for two weeks in Children’s Memorial hospital, Omaha, was much improved and able to at tend school part time. Mr anjl Mrs. Leslie Lieswald returned recently from a two weeks visit with relatives in Ca lifornia and in Seattle Wash, with the Hilbert Hoge family The latter is a brother of Mrs. Lieswald and formerly of Cham bers. Mrs. Jane 9pann returned home Monday from Brush, Gilo where she had been visiting her sister. Mr. and Mrs. Elwyn Robert son attended a convention of the Eastern Star Lodge in Lincoln last week.
