Atkinson News Feme Ihivis went to Omaha last Wednesday and returned Sal urday accompanied hy his daugh ter, Mrs. Mike Wenner and Mrs. Davis, who has been hospitalized there for the past couple weeks. Henry Relnheimer and daugh ters, Jennifer and Mardell of Spencer were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs Elmer McClurg. They visited Mrs. Reln heimer who is in tiie Atkinson hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Davis took her mother, Mrs. Margaret Bartlett, to Grand Island Friday where she enplaned for Norfolk, Va. to spend some time with her son. Dr. Steven Bartlett, who is a Navy surgeon there. Mrs. Bart lett has si>ent the past month here with the Davis family. Mr. and Mrs. Imnald Juittla and family of Seattle and Mrs. Donald I'arsons of Ewing sjient last Wednesday visiting in At kinson with Mr. and Mrs. Guy Parsons. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hickok left Sunday for Lexington where they will spend a few days visit ing their son and daughter-in law, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hickok and family. Sam Brady and his daughter, Mrs. Nora Acton and tier daugh ter, Valerie Sue, six years old, left Wednesday for Minneapolis where Valerie Sue will undergo surgery on her leg. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Richardson received word from their daugh ter, Miss Elta Richardson, who is an R.N. at the Lambs Mem orial hospital in Denver, that she is transferring to the Veterans Administration hospital in Den ver. This was the last meeting of the church year and the Penny savings were taken up. Since this was the last meeting of the church year the various circle members names will be drawn and new grouj>s formed. This group has been to gether for the past two years. Dr. and Mrs. James Ramsay and children spent last Sunday visiting her parents, Judge and Mrs. Ray in Hastings. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Parsons drove to Niobrara last Sunday where they spent the day with her brothers, Frank and William Pavelka. Fred Dunn visited briefly in Atkinson last Friday enroute to Superior where he attended the Wilbem wedding. Mrs. H. J. Phone 209 last week from Lincoln where she visited her daughter ami son-in law, Mr. and Mrs Charles Chace and family. Mrs Hammond also attended the class play, "Pride ami Prejudice" in which her granddaughter, Rose Mary Chace had the h ading part. Miss Chace also was the winner of the lietty Crocker award given by her school recently. She will graduate on May 29. Rose Mary has also bi en chosen as a recipient for a scholarship and plans to attend St Mary's college in Omaha this fall. The Chace family formerly lived in Atkinson where Mr Chace practiced law. The live and I/'am Extension club met May 16 at the home of Mrs. Walter Kies for a covered dish luncheon. All members were present and one guest, Mrs. Joe Binder. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs William Wilkinson and the Flag salute was given. 1-toll call was answered by all members giving an old superstition. The reading leader, Mrs George Files, read a poem "An Old Farm Sale”, and Mrs. Orville Hitchcock, Health leader read an article on "Treatment and Control of Hodg kins disease". East Side Kountry Klub East Side Kountry Klub met Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Norman Trowbridge. Mrs. War ren Crank had the lesson on ‘‘Meat Cookery”. Roll call was answered by ‘‘Favorite Way of Cooking Meat”. Mrs. Dale Ring joined the club. Mrs. Cronk won the special prize. Help-U-Club Mrs. Alta Finch entertained 12 members of the Help-U-club, Wednesday for a noon day din ner. The ladies spent the after noon doing needlework for the hostess. Mrs. Ethel Waring will have club next. Mrs. Clarence Finch jr. won the special prize Memorial Day services will be held Thursday afternoon, May 30. at the schoolhouse. William E. Gailbraith, Beemer, state Ameri i can Legion commander, will be the principal speaker. Memorial services will be held at the cemetery under the di rection of the American Legion. Patrick H. O’Brien, fireman, son of Mr. and Mrs. William O' Brien, is serving aboard the USS Kearsarge, which left Long Beach, Calif., April 18 for six months in the Pacific. He enlisted in the Navy June 1962 . Friends in this area will be pleased to hear that Mr. anti Mrs. Ed Murfin will observe their 60th wedding anniversary, June 3. They will be glad to hear from all their friends. Mrs. Jennie Finley attended the Emporia annual school picnic, ouuuay. i The Rev. Robert Linder drove to Grand Island, Tuesday morn ing where he was met by Miss Hazel Burklund, Lincoln, Mrs. C. C. Stockwell, Mrs. William Ken nedy, Nikki and Patti, all of Grand Island. They returned here with him to attend the grad uation exercises in which Dick Linder will participate. Mr. and Mrs. Davis William, Salem, Ore., are visiting rela tives and friends in and around Page for several weeks. They are house guests of her sister, Mrs. Jessie Cronk. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Asher and Vonda, Atkinson, were Mon day night supper guests of his mother, Mrs. Frieda Asher. Debbi Asher returned with them to spend the rest of the week. RNA Lodge met Wednesday night at the IOOF hall with 16 members present. After the meet ing Mrs. Frieda Asher and Mrs Anton Nissen served lunch. Mr and Mrs. Allen Gross en tertained the volley ball girls. Thursday evening at their home for a cook-out. The girls were then shown films. Mr. Gross coaches the girls. Bonnie Heiss entertained the senior class and their guests to supper Friday night at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Heiss. The young folks then attended the drive-in movie in Neligh. Poppy day will be held in Page Saturday, May 25. Mrs. Sorensen chairman, hopes everyone will buy a poppy and help the veter ans. Golden Rule Golden Rale Extension club met Monday afternoon with Mrs. Lor enz Riege. Roll call was answer ed by giving a meat recipe. It was voted to donate cash to be used for diapers in the layette, the three Page Extension clubs are sending to an Omaha hospit al. The lesson on “Meat Cookery” was given by Mrs. Riege and Mrs Don Nissen. They demonstrated several ways to cook meat. The June meeting will be with Mrs. Leila Snell.
