Floyd Ray, Gil lette Wyo., spent last week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Hertel. Mrs Ray is a daugh ter of the former Olive Hertel Dinner guests on Monday, Apr. 22 in the C. V. Robertson home were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Scott Several friends and neighbors gathered at the Eric Retzlaff home Sunday evening to help Mrs. Retzlaff celebrate her birth day anniversary. Refreshments of pie and coffee were served. Mr. and Mrs Duane Carson entertained at dinner in honor of the birthday anniversary of her b'Other, H Scott. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Scott and son, Frank, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Durre and boys, Mr. and Mrs. A1 Rockford and family, Cham bers: Mr. and Mrs Robert Scott and Cindy and Mr and Mr* Leon Sargent, O’Neill, Mr, and Mrs. Milan Welke and girls, Ewing, Mr and Mrs. Tom Scott, Alva, Okla and Mr. and Mrs. John Harley, Grand Island. This is the first time in over five years that Harry Scott and his sisters, Mrs. Harley and Mrs. Carson have been together and the first time also for many years that the Harry Scott family have en joyed a day together, making it a real occasion for all. Sunday dmner guests of Mrs Hazel Blair were Mr. and Mrs. John Blair and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Blair and Vicki, O’Neill; Mr. and Mrs. Duane Blair and Curt, Bartlett and Mr. and Mrs Edwin Nachtman and family, Chambers. This was a get to gether for the members of the John Blair family, Alvin and Du ane and Mrs. Nachtman. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Retzlaff and Mr. and Mrs. J. W Walter were supper guests Wednesday in the Wiluam Jutte home. Mr. and Mrs. Vem Wilkinson were supper guests in the Harry Scott home Wednesday. “Eyes that see not, Ears that hear not” was the subject of the mission lesson presented by Mrs. C. V Robertson at the meeting of the Woman’s Society of Christian Service Thursday p.m. The meeting was held at the Metho dist church with 15 members present, also 1 visitor. The pres ident, Mrs. G. H. Adams presid ed at the business session. Plans for the spring meeting of the district to be held in Randolph were discussed with about 2 car loads expecting to go. The Nom inating committee was asked to nominate a chairman for each committee. There was some dis cussion about the time and man ner of installing the newly elect ed officers. Following a closing prayer, the hostesses, Mrs Ola Ermer and Mrs. William Ermer served lunch. The Worfc-to-gether Extension club met Thursday, April 25, at the home of Mrs. Richard Grimes The meeting opened with the reading the club collect. The music period was led by Mrs. Donald Strong Roll call was an swered by naming a type of cur tam and where it should be used One member was absent. The president read the minutes of the County Council meeting which she attended in O’Neill. It was voted to contribute $1.00 each year to one fund. Two new members in the club are Mrs. Dick Young and Mrs. Gary Schmidt. The former was appointed Scrapbook leader. One member, Mrs. Larry Lieswald has moved from the community. The lesson on “Fabrics lor Cur tains and Drapes’’ was present ed by Mrs. Ralph Maas and Mrs. Richard Grimes. Lunch was serv ed by the hostess. The next meet ing will be at the home of Mrs. Bernard Grimes May 16. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Grimes were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Neilson. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Carpenter visited Sunday afternoon in the Dean Stevens home, Atkinson. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd (Andy) An derson, Lincoln, and Mrs. Arlo Hiatt, O’Neill, called on Mrs. G H. Grimes Sunday p.m. Kenneth Coolidge, student at Lincoln, spent the weekend at home. On Sunday Kenneth with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Char les Coolidge and his grandpar ents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Cool idge, Amelia, drove to Page to visit his sister, Mr. and Mrs. William Ragland and family. H. Grimes. Home Extension agent, Mrs. Catherine Indra, pre sented a very interesting lesson on “Meat selection, care and Cooking’’. Present were Mrs. Ftonald Hoffman of the Happy Homemakers club; Mrs. Lloyd Wintermote and Mrs. Raymond Beed of the Valley Center club; Mrs. Donald Strong of the Work to-gether club; Mrs. Ernest Dur re and Mrs. Jerry O'Malley of the Better Ways club; Mrs. Glen White and Mrs. Milton Clemens ol the Amelia Progressive club and Mrs. Ewald Spahn and Mrs. Ralph Tomjack of the Ewing Cen ter. Lunch was served by Mrs. Grimes and Mrs. Indra follow ing the meeting. Mrs. Grace Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Smith returned Thursday from Willmington, 111. where they attended the funeral services for the former’s daugh ter-in-law, Mrs. Richard Smith. Mrs. Vernon Whitaker, Dane lia, Sandra, Linda and Amy and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bell and Lana attended the wedding of a niece of Mrs. Whitaker, and Mrs. Bell at Loup City Sunday, April 21st. The Whitakers were over night guests Saturday in the home of Mrs. Whitaker’s mother. Mrs. Hattie Richardson, Ord. Mrs. C. W. Porter, O’Neill, Mrs. A. B. Hubbard, Mrs. B. W. Hubbard and Mrs. Leonard Swan son, Chambers, left Wednesday for Texas. Mrs. Porter and Mrs. A. B. Hubbard to visit the for mer’s son and wife, Captain and Mrs. Allen Porter, Denison. The others going on to Dallas where Mrs. A. B. Hubbard planned to go through the Taylor clinic. They expected to be gone only a few days. Thirteen members, 1 visitor and several children with Pastor Braunersreuther were present when the Ladies Aid of 9t. Paul’s Lutheran church met Thursday p.m. April 18th at the church. The pastor presented the lesson <*i "The Order of Morning Ser vice.” pointing out the meaning of Liturgy The Alumni banquet was discussed and committees appointed- The pastor explained the care ui the new communion ware. The meeting closed with prayer. Lunch wax served by Mrs J. W Walter. Mrs Ema Tucker and Mrs. William Jutte. The American Legion Post No. 320 met Friday evening at the Legion hall. Plans fur Memorial day were discussed and also plans for a dance the evening of the alumni banquet Mrs. Andrew Gilbert returned Sunday from Tekamah where she had spent a week with her daugh ter and son-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Jack McAllister. Mrs. Lela Grubb returned Wed nesday from a visit with her sis ters, Mrs. Ida Anderson, Norfolk and Mr and Mrs. Tom Osborne, Wisner. Overnight guests Saturday in the Sam Young home were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Mad sen, Lauerl, who remained until Sunday night On Sunday, Mr and Mrs Burel Groac.
