Slaight, 23 years, son of Emmet
Slaight, is home on a two week
furlough after finishing his first
12 weeks of training at Fort Leo
nard Wood. H< graduated from
St. Mary’s high school in 3957
and is to report for duty at Ilel
voir, Va., March 16.
The Paddock Community Aid
met at the home of Mrs. Elmer
Devall Wednesday afternoon.
Eleven memliers and four visitors
were present. Marjorie Nelson
had charge of the devotions.
More material was distributed
among the memlwrs to be work
ed up for the fall bazaar. The
next meeting to be with Mary
Hansen. A fine lunch was served
after the business meeting con
vened.
Mr. and Mrs. Axel Borg left
Wednesday from Grand Island for
a visit with their sons, Ron and
Don Borg, and families, San Ber
nardino, Calif., and their daugh
ter and family, the Garry Kir
wins, Grenada Hills, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Watson and
Danny were Sunday dinner guests
at the home of Emmet Slaight.

Mrs. Myrtle Dalton underwent
surgery in Denver March 4 for
cataract of the eye. It is not j
known at this time as to the re
sults of the operation but great
hopes are held that- her eyesight
will lx* improved.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Goeke, At
kinson, were Sunday afternoon
and lunch guests at the Martha
Johring home.
Miss Kathy Searles caught the
new walking fad this week and
walked to school, a distance of
5'/^ miles in 1 hour and 15 min
ute's. She believes in the motto
practice makes perfect and may
try a longer jaunt in the near
future.

went to Rochester, Minn. Friday
to visit their son, James, and
family on the return trip they
