Harold Hartl* The First Aid Class held each Thursday evening at the Town Hall, is nearing the completion of the course. Tests have been giv en by Howard Beckenhauer of Neligh who is the instructor. A review of the “First Aid” book is scheduled for the March 7 meeting. A film “Help Wanted” will be shown. Guests at the February 28 meeting was George Keller, sci ence instructor of the Ewing high sf h ol end 'wo of his students, Mike Beelaert and Clayton Hoke. Mr. Keller showed the film “No Time to Spare”. Mrs. Edna Lofquest visited Sat urday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rueben Mey er in Neligh. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Tomjack and Mr. and Mrs. Cletus Thra mer who have been vacationing in the West for the past ten days, arrived home Sunday. During the trip they visited points of interest in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona. They spent two days in Las Vegas where one evening they attended the Danny Thomas Show. Other highlights were the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam and the Carlsbad Caverns. During their absence their family were cared for at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Taylor at Oakdale and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mlnarik, Ewing. The Overland Trails Council of Boy Scouts of America held a round table in O’Neill Thursday evening, Feb. 28, at the parlors of the Presbyterian church for scout leaders in this area. At tending from Ewing were cub leaders Sam Regan, Mrs. Vance Anson and Mrs. Willis Rockey and Boy Scout leaders were R H. Shain, Alfred Napier and H. R. Harris. Meeting was in charge of Loren Walton, Ewing, District executive of the Sand Hill Dis trict. A bridal shower was held Sat urday evening at St. Dominic’s hall honoring Mrs. Douglas Shra der. Decorations were carried out in the bridal colors of Aqua and white. A miniature doll with an umbrella centered the gift ta ble. A contest game “Bride” was played for entertainment in charge of Mrs. R. S. Brion, win ■ A ners were presented prizes. The honored guest was assisted in opening the gifts by her mo ther, Mrs. Rose Bauer and Mrs Willie Shrader, mother of the bridegroom. Miss Judy Tinsley presided at the gift book. The refreshment table was cen tered with a bouquet of white mums flanked by aqua candles in crystal holders. Mrs. Mick Hobbs presided at the coffee ser vice. Hostesses were Mrs. James Tinsley and Judy, Mrs. A. S. Brion, Mrs. James Mlnarik, Mrs. R. R. Harris and daughter, Mrs. Darrell Neitzke of Spencer, Mrs. Mick Hobbs, Mrs. Archie Tuttle. Mrs. William Hobbs and Mrs. Roy Blunt. Mr and Mrs. Irvin Cloyd re ceived word Wednesday, Febru ary 27, from the son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Garhart of York of the arrival of a daughter born to them the same day weighing six pounds and fourteen ounces. The Garharts have two sons. Weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Butler were Mr. and Mrs. E. D. McDonald and family of Norfolk. Several Sunday visits and ga thering were cancelled by Ew ing folks Sunday when several inches of heavy wet snow fell begining about seven o’clock in the morning. Snow continued to fall off and on during the day, by night highways were becom ing slippery and snow packed and visibility was hampered by a fine blowing snow during the ear V ~.D “■ j Mr. and Mrs. Cressel Anderson and family of Bloomfield were Friday evening dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Minnie Larson After dinner guests continued to arrive for a surprise party in honor of Mrs. Larson’s 78th birth day anniversary. The hours were spent visiting while the young sters enjoyed games and other entertainment. The self-invited guests served a lunch of sand wiches, cake, home-made ice cream and coffee. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Cary and Nila, Ewing, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wining and family, Chambers Mr. and Mrs. Philip Lee and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Riser and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Pinker man and Virginia from O’Neill, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Anderson and family and Ethel Haws from the Opportunity community, and Mrs. William Kipple and Max of In man. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Ruby and family of Sioux City, la., were dinner guests Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Eacker. Home movies were a part of the afternoon entertainment at the J. L. Pruden home when the family gathered for a surprise dinner party honoring the birthday anniversary ot Mrs Pruden.
