Eleven members of the Ameri can Legion Auxiliary gathered at the home of Mrs. A. B. Hubbard Friday evening for their regular meeting. The president, Mrs. Donald Green presided. A letter from the district president, Mrs. A1 Chavet regarding the recent convention in Grand Island was read. The group decided to con duct a drive for used clothing. The president had a check from the American Legion post 320 for $76.40 which was given the Aux iliary as their share of the pro ceeds of the Veterans Day Smorgasbord. Following the meet ing lunch was served by the hos tesses, Mrs. Hubbard and Mrs. T. E. Newhouse. Mr. and Mrs. D. Gartner enter tained the following members of her family at dinner Christinas day; Mr and Mrs. Carlyle Veitor and family, Norfolk, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hutchinson and child ren, Elgin, Mrs. Bonnie Dwyer, Fremont, Mr. and Mrs. K. Maxine Metschke has been i patient in St. Anthony's hospita for several days. Mrs Dewey Bnttell learned o the sudden death Wednesday morning of her father Howar< Luben, 60, of Clearwater. Mr. Lu ben died of a heart attack. Fun eral services were held Friday at the auditorium, Clearwater Survivors are his wife, Lucille daughter, Mrs. Dewey iLois Brittell, Chambers, and son, Doi Luben, Weepingwater, also twi grandsons. A Bible study course which hai been held for the past severa, weeks at the Methodist churcl was completed Sunday evening This study was on the book ol Romans. The Rev. Earl Hess was the instructor. Another study is planned for a later date. Sharon Chashatt, small daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Chas hatt, is a patient in St. Anthony's hospital, O'Neill. In the games with Meadow Grove Friday evening at Cham bers the scores were: volley ball, Chambers 22, Meadow Grove, 19; 2nd team basketball, Chambers 37, Meadow Grove 23; 1st team basketball, Chambers 38, Meadow Grove 45. On Wednesday of last week, Mrs. Lyle Hanna took her father, William Reicks to Tilden to con sult a doctor. Mr. Reicks was hos pitalized there until Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Retzlaff were Friday evening guests in the Walter Haake home. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Scott and Cindy and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Sargent, O'Neill were Sunday guests in the Harry Scott home. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Wilkinson spent Wednesday evening visiting in the Herman Schipman home. Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Grimes were Sunday dinner guests in the Kenneth Adams home. Tommy Scott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Scott, Chambers and Nyla Mitts. Alva, Okia., were married at Alva on Dec. 26. They will make their home there. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brazda and children, Wisner, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Koci Saturday. Several friends and neighbors gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Koci Thursday evening to help Mrs. Koci celebrate her birthday anniversary. Following a social evening a lunch of cake, sandwiches, coffee was served. Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Jarman spent from Sunday to Wednesday of last week in Omaha with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ringle and family. Keller club met Wednesday with Mrs. G. H. Grimes with Mrs. Louis Neilson, co-hostess. The president, Mrs. E. A. Far rier was in charge. Roll call was answered by telling a New Year’s resolution made.
