St. Boniface Catholic church at
Stuart Saturday morning, Oct. 27.
The Rev. A. Pasch&ng perform

a 10 o’clock service.
Red and gold mums decorated
the altar for the occasion.
The parents of the bride are
Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Nickless and
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Holbrook
are the groom's parents All are
of Stuart.
Jack Hytrek, accompanied by
Sr. Mary Vera, sang "Ave
Maria”, “On This '‘ay’* and "Oh
Beautiful Mother”.
The bride appeared in a wed
ding gown of Chantilly lace fash
ioned with a sequin and pearl
trimmed V neckline with an add
ed touch of pleated tulle. Tiers
of lace and pleated tulle fell into
a chapel train. Her fingertip veil
was French illusion with a sequin
and pearl crown. She carried red
roses on a white satin prayer
book.

were her bridesmaid's. All three
attendants wore sheaths of red
velvet and were complemented
by satin cummberbund. They car
ried nosegay bouquets of white
j»om-pons.
Flower girl was Diane Koester,
Story City, la., cousin of the
bride. Norman King, Stuart, ne
phew of the groom was ring bear
er.
Gerold Herrick, Stuart, friend
of the groom, served as best man.
Jim and John Nickless, brothers
of the bride, ushered.
The bride is a graduate of the
Stuart high school class of ’62
while the groom is also a Stuart
graduate, class of ’58.
The groom is employed by the
Stuart creamery.
A dinner was served following
the ceremony for 50 guests. One
hundred and seventy five guests
attended the reception.
The wedding cake was baked,
decorated and served by Mrs.
Walt Kaup.
Jan Brewster poured coffee
and Putty VanCleve served
punch.
Mrs. Marion Davis and Mrs.
Florence Scholz hostessed the
event.
Maureen Coufal presided over
the guest book and Anne Muel
ler, assisted by Karen Schmader
er and Ann Brayton were in
charge of the gift table.
The couple entertained at a
wedding dance before leaving for
Colorado Springs for a short wed
ding trip. They will be at home
at Stuart after Nov. 1.

Orchard observed their 50th wed
ding anniversary Sunday, Oct.
-8th at the Orchard Legion club,
A family dinner was served at
noon with all of their 13 children
and their families present. With
the exception of 4 grandchildren,
Jimmie Ickler who is in the arm
ed services in Germany. Mrs.

and Mrs. Richard Frickle and
family of Rudolph, Wise.

Valentine where he is employed
as an engineer. While in the pro
cess of having their trailor house
moved, Mrs. Young and girls,
Patricia and Brenda stayed with
Mrs. Guy Young in O'Neill.
Leroy A. Burgess, O’Neill, Fel
lows of the College, was inducted
into the American College of Den
tists, in its annual meeting held
on October -8 at Miami Beach.
The Northeast district of the
Methodist church is well repre
sented on the United Nation tour
this week, Nov. 3-11. Those at
tending are Lloyd Root, lay lead
er, Belden, the Rev. and Mrs.
Curtis Nerlin, Springview, Ivan
Hiatt, Bristow, Mrs. Edgar Stauf
fer, Mrs. Marvin Stauffer and

Services Held
At Lynch for
Cora Courtney
Funeral services were held for
Cora Ellen Courtney at the Cath
olic Church at Lynch, Nebr., on
Saturday, October 27th.
Cora Ellen Courtney, daughter
of Frank E. and Eliza Higgins
was born April 21, 1897 at Lynch
and passed away Oct. 24, 1962
at the age of 65 years and 6
months.
She spent her girlnood in and
near Lynch, where she attended
grade and high school. She was
united in marriage to Wallace E.
Courtney at St. Mary’s church in
Spencer, Nov. 22, 1915.
To this union five children were
born, Mrs. Walter Bond of Philo
math, Oregon; Mrs. Allen Koskan
of Butte; and one son, Eugene,
and a son and a daughter who
died in Infancy.
The family lived northwest of
Lynch for 5 years, then moved
to Cheyenne County, Colorado
where they spent years. They re
turned to a farm north of Lynch
in 1926 where they lived until
they retired to Lynch in 1946.
Mrs. Courtney who had been
in poor health since 1946 re
mained active in church, family
and the neighborhood activities.
She is survived by her husband
Wallace, son Eugene and daugh
ters, Mildred and Vieva; 4 grand
children, 2 great grandchildren,
4 Sisters, Mrs. Dale Pierce and
Mrs. Ora Barnes of Hillsboro,
Oregon; Mrs. William Teadtke of
Bristow and Mrs. Jerry Sixta of
Red Lake Falls, Minn., and one
brother, Elvin Higgins of Taco
ma, Wash.
Pallbearers were Lee Barnes,
Bryan Barnes, Frank Fisher,
George Kalkowski, Francis Fisher
and Elmer Christensen.
Burial was in the Catholic Cem
etery at Lynch. Jones Funeral
home was in charge of Funeral
arrangements.
Rites Held for
Edward Henifin
In Minnesota
f uneral services wen- held for
Edward Henifin. 70, on Tuesday.
Oct 30, at Brauierd, Minn.
Edward Henifin was ixirn on
February 22, 1892 at Asmstrong,
Nebr and died October 26 at his
home near Swanviile. Minn.
He married Mae Buttulph May
6. 1914 and four children wen*
bom to this union. They moved
to Bramerd, Minn, in 1936 and
lived m that vicinity until poor
health made him retire in 1959.
They then moved to Swanviile to
be near their daughter.
Survivors include his widow.

Minn , son, Marvin. Minneapolis
eight grandchildren, 6 great
grandchildren, six brothers, Les
ter, Calvin, Madison and Arthur,
Bellingham, Wash., Fred Long

two sisters, Myrtle Johnson and
Mary Hansen, O’Neill, two half
brothers, Elvin, Orchard, Wash.,
and Elba, Seattle, Wash.
Two children preceded him in
death.
Ida Werner
Rites Are Held
At Atkinson
Ida May Werner, ftfl-year-old
Atkinson resident, died Wednes
day, Oct. 31, at her home in
Atkinson.
Miss Werner lived with her sis
ter, Carrie Werner and her
brother, Wayne F. Werner.
Funeral services were held at
2 o’cloc k Friday afternoon at the
Atkinson Methodist church with
the Rev. Milan S. Coleman of
ficiating.
Burial was in Wood lawn ceme
tery. Pallbearers were Anthony
O’Donnell, George Trary, Lloyd
McDowell, Ernest E. Gotschall,
Fred Dobrovolny and Earl Cox
bill.
Miss Werner was the daughter
of Elias Werner and Ellen Nora
Kramer Werner. She was bom
July 23, 1876, near Cedarville, 111.,
came to Holt county March 12,
1884, and was a resident of the
Atkinson community for the re
mainder of her life.
She was baptized February 1,
1906, and became a member of
the Evangelical Church Novem
ber 18, 1906. She joined the At
kinson Methodist church June 5,
1920.
There were 11 children in the
Werner family. Miss Werner was
preceded in death by six sisters
and one brother.
Survivors include two sisters,
Mrs. Gertie B. Raymer and Miss
Carrie Werner, and one brother,
Wayne F. Werner, all of Atkinson.

will observe their 25th wedding
anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 11
at St. Michaels Hall, Emmet,
with open house from 2-4 o’clock.
