SIGNAL LIGHTS “It was well you stopped, when the red light flashed", She said as we drove along, “For an officer stood at the cor ner there in charge of the traf fic throng.” And I smiled and said to my daughter fair, as we waited on the spot, I always stop when the red light showes, be an officer there or not. Then she sat in silence as we drove along, and suddenly thif she said. There ought to be lights for us all through life, the amber and green and red. What a help ‘twad be if a red light flashed when danger and shame were near, And we all might wait till the green light came to show that the road was clear. “My dear” I said “We have tried to light life’s road for your feet to fare. And we’ve tried and prayed you’ll stop when the red light glows, though none of us may be there. We’ve tried to show you the signs of wrong and the way of life serene, To stop when your concious post shows red and go when it flash es green.
