Holm or Mrs. Bill Mitteis was able to return home from the O'Neill hospital Saturday after spending two weeks in traction. Mrs. Mary Stearns spent Sun day with Edith Noftze in Clear water. Mrs. Carl Christon, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Christon and three daughters, Midland, Tex. plan to arrive Friday for a vacation with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Givens, Stuart, Mr. and Mrs. Seth Her tel. Chambers, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth La Rue, Chambers, and Mrs. Carl Lambert were picnic guests Sunday at the R. M. Tomjaek home. Mr and Mrs. John Napier and family and Mr. and Mrs. Web Napier were Sunday dinner guests in the Glenn Harpster home. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bollwitt and son were Sunday visitors in the FJwald Spahn home. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Rexin were Sunday supper guests in the home of Mrs. Sisson and Fred. Leland Hupp, who is in serv ice, has been home on leave. He has been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hupp, and family and relatives in Norfolk. Mr. and Mrs. Web Napier vis ited in the Glenn Harpster home Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Reimer were O Neill visitors Wednesday. They also called on Mr. and Mrs. Otto Retke in Inman. Mr. Retke had just returned home from a 9-day stay in a Norfolk hospital where he underwent surgery. Mrs Harold Werkmeuter spent last weekend in the Neligh hos pital. She returned Sunday. Mrs. Henry Lange came home the same day after several weeks in the hospital following surgery. Elsie and Willie Hupp. Nor folk. and Leland Hupp have been shingling their farm home oc cupied by the Arthur Kuester family. Mr and Mrs. Gene Tomjack and family were Thursday eve ning callers in the Earl Schind ler and Ewald Spahn homes. Leonard Larson, Lincoln, was hospitalized in Lincoln for 12 days for treatment of diabetes. Ewald Spahn went to Omaha last week for a check up. He was able to return the same day Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Larson were visiting friends and rela tives in Norfolk last week. Mrs. Marcus Pierson, who was injured July 14 in an accident involving a hay stacker, is re ported to be improved in the Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh. Guests were Mrs. Kubart, Mrs. George Walters, Mrs. Keith Bartak, Mrs. Dana Sisson and Mrs. Melvin Rexin. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bartak, West Point, and three grand children from Wyoming were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Elizabeth Bartak and sons. They also visited L. L. Bartaks and Keith Bartaks. Mrs. Jim Bartak and family, Omaha, visited last week in the Frank Bohn home. Clarence Schmiser was hos pitalized in Neligh for a time last week suffering with asthma. Mr. and Mrs. Ewald Spahn and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Luben, Clearwater, were Sunday evening supper guests in the Henry Rei mer home. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Reimer, Lin coln, and Mrs. Echo Fisher, St. Edward, have purchased the duplex residence from Mrs. Brion and Mrs. Hales in Neligh and will move there soon. Butough and her brother, Roy Rose, Minneapolis, Minn., plan to return with them for a visit at the Hoffman home. Ot hers visiting at the Moe home were Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Graves, Ethan and Mrs. Elma Olson of Mitchell. Spending the evening and en joying home-made ice cream Monday at the Robert Hendricks’ were Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hen dricks and Arlin, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Hendricks and family and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Klinger and family. Ed Hoffman and his grandson, Gary, accompanied by Harold Frickel, went to Gering Thurs day, returning Friday. They took the Hoffman boy’s ponies and cart to enter in the parade at Gering. The city was commemorating the “Day of the Oregon Trail.” Ed’s brother, Wayne Hoffman and Mrs. Hoffman drove the ponies in the exhibition. Harold spent Thursday nidhl with his aunt and uncle. Mr. and Mrs. Don Coleman. The Colemans just recently moved to Scottsbluff from Thedford. A barbacue steak supper at the Mark Hendricks home Tuesday evening honored the birthdays of five members of the family, Ro bert Hendricks, Greg and Mark Hendricks, Terry Klinger, and Rhonda Hendricks. Attending the occasion were the families of Mark, Leon, Robert Hendricks, the Richard Klinger family and Mr. and Mrs. Omer Poynts. Homemade ice cream was serv ed. Mr. and Mrs. Vernie Phipps and Mr. and Mrs. David Phipps, David and Sheryl, Scottsbluff, came Saturday evening and spent the weekend at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. Charles Phipps. Major repair on the church structure, improved parking con ditions and the installation of a neon light is a project partially completed at the Atkinson Wesley an Methodist Church. The Rev. Elmore Blain, church pastor, obtained permission from the Railroad Commission to use the land adjacent to the church for parking space, improving the congested traffic conditions on the street in front of the church. The neon light made possible by Memorials to the late Charley Freouf has been installed on the bulletin board at the church en- * trance. Gary Hoffman, 12 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Hoffman, lost the tip end of a finger on the left hand Saturday while in tiie field with his grandfather, Ed Hoffman Mr. Holfman was seed ing atalfa with a drill when In some manner Gary got his finger in the works. Robert Hendricks and Bobby, Leon and Mark jr., and Mark and Arlin Hendricks camped ov ernight Friday and fished at the Whetstone lake in South Dakota. They returned home Saturday. The Celia 4-H’ers met Friday evening at the Alex Frickel home. Potential entries in the county fair were discussed and songs practiced. They brought three girls from their church who plan to attend Youth Camp at Lexington this week. The girls accompanied Kenneth Meyer to Lexington enroute to his work at North Platte. The Rev. Meyer is pastor of the As sembly of God church at Wayne. Beverly Meyer, who has spent the weekend with her parents, re turned to Wayne with the Mey ers’. Mrs. Richard Hendricks and j her mother, Mrs. Omer Poynts, Stuart, were business visitors Monday at Spencer and Butte. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Heiser and family were Sunday afternoon visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Beck and family. Dorothy Scott called at the Beck home Monday. Mr. and Mrs. John Schwindt and Vaneta were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Chace at the Town House in O’Neill Sunday evening. Several games were played and then the gifts were opened by the bride. The bride's mother, Mrs. Leta Miles, was in charge of the gift book.
