The American Legion Auxili ary met at the Legion Hall Fri day evening with 13 members and a visitor present It was announc ed that the county meeting will be held in O’Neill. Mrs. Anna AI tiers was re-elected as treasur er. The following officers were installed: secretary, Mrs. Edd Coday, and sgt-at-arms, Mrs. W. H. Crawford. Mrs. Edd Coday was nominated for county presi dent. Lunch was served by Mrs. Esther Wood and Mrs. Edwin Hubbard. Carolyn Rowse, Sammy Miles, -Janice Garwood and Lorette Swanson, Chambers and Bonnie CJarwood, Atkinson, were enrolled in the American Sunday School son. Her granddaughter, Mrs. Robert Scoville and son, who had accompanied them, returned to her home in Cottonwood, Ariz. by plane from N. Y. Beautiful Valley Garden club met at the home of Mrs. Martha Pospichal at Amelia, Friday, June 29 Seven members answer ed roll call with a favorite re cipe. it was deckled that group 3 would weed the plantings at The Memorial Park the second week of July. The group also decided to hold a Glad, show this fall. The hostess arrangement was judged. Wild flowers were brought by members to be iden tified. The door prize was award ed to Mrs. Victor Harley. Lunch was served by the hostess. The next meeting will be with Mrs. Jane Spann in August. Each mem ber is to bring a Glad, from their garden. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Papke and family attended the Kierstead family reunion Sunday, July 1 at Stuart Park. Relatives were there from Burke and Gregory, S. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Stahly and family, Milford, spent Sun day, July 1 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Alderson. Mr. and Mrs. George Cameron, Mr. and Mrs Don Cameron and children and Mr. and Mrs. T?d Tomjack and family attended the 75th year diamond jubilee at Pet ersburg Saturday. The Camerons are formerly of that community and Mrs. George Cameron has the distinction of being the first child born in Petersburg. Jack Adams, Austin, Tex., is visiting relatives at Chambers having come by plane with his friend, Joe Kutcher, also of Aus tin. Kathy and Jimmie Farrier, O’ Neill, have been spending some time with their erandoarents Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Farrier. Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Medcalf and their guests, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Greenstreet, Mt. Vernon, Wash., Patty Avard, Lincoln and Kathy Medcalf, Minneapolis, Minn., were Sunday guests of the Norman Medcalfs, Atkinson. Mr. and Mrs. Duke Struebing and family, Grand Island, spent the fourth of July with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Har ley. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Stevens and son, Terry, Atkinson, spent the evening of July 4 with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Carpen ter. Luther Burlison and daughter, Mrs. A. C. Gearhart, Wichita, Kan., spent Saturday night, June 30, in the Tom Papke home, hav ing come to get the former’s wife” who spent 10 days with her sis ter, Mrs. Papke and family. Patty Avard, Lincoln, and Pam 9havlik, Chambers, spent Friday with Kathy Medcalf at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Carpenter. Raymond Beed, Eugene Baker and the Rev. Hess left Sunday p.m. for Wichita, Kan., to bring the latter's furniture to Chambers. Mrs. Hess plans to return with them Monday. Mr. and Mrs. G. H.
