Mr. and Mrs. Floyd France left Friday morning for a weeks visit over July fourth at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd France and family, Bayard, Nebr Janet France, the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold France taught the 6th grade at Rushville last year. She is now attending summer school at Chadron and will teach next year at McGrew. just 3 miles from her home. Mary Ann, the second daughter, gradu ated at Bayard in May. Mrs. Mary Fusch and Mr. Jim Svatos and Dennis anti Kevin Hansel accompanied Arlan Sva u* to Sioux City Saturday where the Hansel boys remained with their parents, Mr. and Mrs Bi Hansel. Mrs. Fusch and Jim Sva tos returned home with Arlan Svatos Sunday. Mr. L. Cozwe. science teacher at Lynch high school left Sunday afternoon for Rapid City. S. D, where he will attend the Nation al Foundation Summer Institute at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology from July 2 to August 24. The Frontier Six Errors Mar Legion Game With Bloomfield The O’Neill Junior Legion ta pered off a bit, playing only one game this past week, but after their Friday night showing it may be best that they extend their rest. The local squad committed six errons, three of them in one in ning, and stumbled to a 7-4 defeat at the hands of a well-coached Bloomfield outfit. Keith ReynoldsOn was O’Neill’s hard luck hurler, scattering eight hits and striking out eight. Whit ey Mumm was touched for si> hits while going all the way foi the winners. Lyle Stewart was the only O’ Neill inspiration through-out th< evening, hitting safely in threi of his four appearances at the plate and raising his batting av erage to the .322 mark. Sarr Kneipper added a single in threi trips, bringing his team-leadinf mark to an even .400 average. D. came Tuesday for a 3 day visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewie Christensen and Jerry. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Christensen and family left Saturday for their home at Phoenix, Ariz., after spending a week at the Lewie Christensen home. Mr. and Mrs. Lewie Christen sen and Jerry, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Christensen and family, Phoenix, Ariz., Mr. and Mrs. Don Ross meier and family, were sjpper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Thom son and family, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Vilas Zepf, Lin coln. called on Mrs. William Zepf at the Lynch Sacred Heart hospital Tuesday. They also visit ed Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Moody that afternoon. Mr. C. A. Moody entered the Lynch hospital Thursday evening suffering from Asthma and lung infection. Sharon Christensen underwent an emergency appendectomy Tuesday afternoon. She was able 7-2 in the final game played Thursday evening. Kelly Fuhrer was the winner, Dick Hovey was charged with the loss. This Thursday: Tigers take on the Dodgers, Yankees play the White Sox, and Senators battle the Giants. Booth Sparks Braves Win Over Emmet In Elkhorn Valley competition this week, the Braves beat Em met 7-3 behind the pitching of Jim Booth, and the Cardinals dropped a 7-3 verdict to the In dians in games played Friday night. On Monday the Braves routed Ewing 18-0, the Cards took a 4-1 decision from Orchard, and At kinson defeated the Indians. This week’s schedule for Friday night has the Indians in line to battle the Braves, the Cardinals taking on Stuart, Orchard at Ew ' ing, and Emmet playing at At kinson. On Monday, Emmet will play the Cardinals here in O' Neill, Ewing will meet the In dians, Stuart takes on Atkinson, and the Braves and Orchard will battle it out. Legion Midgets Take Three Wins Fred Appleby’s Legion Midgets ; picked up three straight victories this past week. Last Wednesday • night they slid past Ewing 6-5 in an eight-inning contest played here in O'Neill. On Friday, southpaw Danny Wolfe recorded 17 strike-outs while blanking Bloomfield 10-0 on a one-hitter. Monday night the Midgets drop ped Niobrara 8-7, with Ivan Hur ley going all the way on the mound for the winners. This Thursday the local Mid gets will play Butte, and on Sun day they will take on Clearwater in the afternoon and Creighton in the evening. Wed.-Thurs. Mrs. Harry Holz went home June 9 with her son, George Holz and his son, Kenneth, Mar engo, 111., for an indefinite visit. She has spent a month visiting her children here in the Lynch area. Mr. Dwight Church, Sioux Falls, S. D. came Wednesday for a visit at the Harlan and Orville Holz home, also with other rela tives. Mr. and Mrs. Don Rossmeier and Kenneth, Medicine Lake, Mont., spent Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Barnes, Marlin and David. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Christensen and family also called that evening. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Streit and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Courtney and Sharon, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Underwood, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Courtney and fam ily were Monday supper guests at the Clarence Kolund home in honor of Donna Kolund’s 3rd birth day. Mr. and Mrs. Vic Pickering, O’ Neill, spent from Thursday till Saturday vacationing in the Black Hills. He will leave Monday for the Army Air Force for four years.
