A fellowship dinner was given in honor of the newly confirmed members at the church parlors following church services. Anita and Stephen, Rapid City, S. D., were over night guests Friday of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kilmurry and family. Mrs. Allard is a sister of Mr. Kilmurry. Amelia News By Miss Florence LJndwey Daily Vacation Bible school held the past week in the Amelia Meth odist church. Carolyn Bristol, Au rora, Margaret Jamison, Lincoln, Mrs. Bo Connors and Mrs. Ed ith Anderson were in charge of the classes. Miss Bristol and Miss Jami son came as a team under the supervision of the Nebraska Meth odist Mobile Ministry and the church and community rural worker. These college young peo ple making up the teams have been given special training for this summer’s work in Vacation Bible school having received at least four training sessions and additional hours of special coun sel for this work. Miss Bristol was a junior at the University of Ne braska and Miss Jamison was a senior at Nebraska Wesleyan Un iversity this year. The Theme for the lessons was “The Bible”. Mrs. Lew Backhaus helped Mrs. Effie Withers with house clean ing Thursday. Rev. Earl Hess has been as signed to fill the pulpits at the Chambers and Amelia Methodist churches for the coming year. His former home was in Missouri. There was a school board meet ing Monday evening to elect a new president. Julie Rees visited Joyce and Cathy Doolittle Friday afternoon. Mrs. Gertie Adair is having a three week vacation since Mr. and Mrs. Gene Adams and family are attending the World’s Fair. Mrs. Adair has been employed at the Adams home in Chambers caring for the children, while the pcticius are empioyeu. Mrs. Maude Forbes had a tele phone installed Saturday. Mrs. Gertie Adair’s phone was to be installed Monday. Margaret Jamison, Lincoln, and Carolyn Bristol, Aurora, have been guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. Fullerton this week. They came Friday evening and stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Vem Sageser over the weekend and were dinner and supper guests with Mrs. Ed ith Andersen Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Waldo, Darla and Debra Waldo returned home Friday night from Lara mie, Wyo., where they attended the wedding of Barbara Waldo. Mrs. Ken Werner, Chambers, al so accompanied them. Mrs. Mary Husa was a schoolmate of Mrs. Fryrear, Mrs. Smith and Mr. Fix. The af ternoon was enjoyed very much by visiting and recalling happen ings in their school days. S. C. Barnett entered the At kinson hospital Wednesday suffer ing with a lung congestion. WSCS met at the home of Mrs. Vein Sageser Wednesday after noon. There were 14 members present and answered roll call by telling some of the duties of a Deaconess. Mrs. Edith Andersen led the lesson. Mrs. Vern Sage ser and Mrs. Bertha Sammons, assisted by Mrs. Lew Backhaus were hostesses. Mrs. Hienie Frahm read the Scripture lesson. The next meeting will be June 27 with Mrs. Asa Watson. The date has been set ahead one week as the regular meeting date would be on July 4. The program was Facing the Challenge of Missions” and dis cussion covered the Ecumenical Deaconess and Missionaries. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Widman and Marcia went to Lincoln to attend the annual Methodist church conference Thursday and Friday. Mrs. Edith Andersen ac companied them and visited her daughter, Mrs. George (Norma) Yancek and family. The bake sale sponsored by the MYF members and their lead er Tuesday afternoon was well at tended and netted approximately $15. The money will be used for the Dailey Vacation Bible school. Mr. and Mrs. William Fryrear attended the funeral of Mr. Fry rear's brother-in-law, Fred Krau ter, Clatonia, Tuesday. They also visited their sister-in-law, Mrs. Esther Schenansgruber, Swanton, and other relatives before return ing home Wednesday. Julie Rees, Denver, came Wed nesday and visited her grandpar ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rees. Venita White stayed overnight Wednesday with her grandmother, Mrs. 9. C. Barnett. Lew Forbes, Atkinson, under went surgery last week at the Veterans hospital in Grand Island. Latest reports were that his con dition was not very good. Mrs. Mabel Enbody, Winlock, Wash., is visiting her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bilstien and Dick this week. Mrs. Vem Sageser and Mrs. May Sageser attended the Gar den club at the home of Mrs. Van Robertson Tuesday after noon.
