nek were Sunday guests at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Miller,
Wakefield. 9he is the former Jo
lene Micanek. They also attended
a birtliday dinner at the hall for
Mr. Gneuwich’s sister-in-law.
Audrey Compton came Tuesday
and spent Memorial Day here
leaving again Thursday for Nor
folk where he is working as as
sistant foreman on the Chicago
Northwestern Railroad.
Mr. and Mrs. Jake Birmeier
and family spent Memorial Day
at Randolph and enjoyed a picnic
dinner at the Willis McDonald
home. Relatives from Iowa and
Bloomfield were present.

the Legion Hall Memorial Day

Chamberlain. He is very ill with
cancer of the lungs and has been
taking treatments one week of
each month for the last three
months at Rochester, where he
had surgery in February. She al
so visited her son and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Horan. Rap
id City, S. D. for three days while
gone.
Mary Jo Stenger left Friday
night for her home at Lindsey,
where she will spend her two
weeks vacation with Mr. and Mrs.
William Stenger and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Greene
and family spent several days
last week at the Bus Greene
home.
Dennis Darnell and Bruce
Schollmeyer have completed their
freshman year in college. Dennis
has been at Doane and Bruce at
Norfolk.
Lyle Stewart has enrolled at
the University of South Dakota
at Vermillion to begin in Septem
ber. Margene Weeder has also en
rolled there.
Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Stewart
drove to Tilden Tuesday morn
ing after the Monday night tor
nado to see the Leo Farrans who
live east of town and the tornado
hit V* mile from their home.

DeKay spent Tuesday in Sioux
City where they had cattle on
the market.

guests over Memorial Day at the

Mr. and Mrs. Bud Rutledge

King called Friday evening at the
Vernon Dalberg home.
Mr. and Mrs. Mel Lueken at
tended the alumni banquet at
Butte Tuesday evening. The ban
quet was prepared by the cook
at the Butte school. Mr. Lueken
was master of ceremonies.
Poppy Day was held in Lynch
Saturday, May 27. Madeline Pek
lo, Poppy chairman. Several
youngsters sold poppies all day.

springs in north Lynch.
The American Legion Auxiliary
appointed Mrs. Rpy Counts to
take care of tne Lynch park this
year. The auxiliary will hold the
next regular meeting June 18,
Monday, 8 pun. with Mrs. Phyl
lis McMeen and Mrs. Rose Km
as hostess. There will be election
of officers.
The Altar Society of the As
sumption BVM church will serve
the alumni banquet this year. It
is planned for over 300 and will
be held June 23 at the new aud
itorium.
The Womens Society of the First
Methodist church will serve a
supper to the public July 4 at
the Legion hall. The planning
committee met Saturday night at
Moodys cafe. The menu will be
fried chicken. The menu will be
ribs, baked beans, potato salad,
cabbage salad, hot rolls and a
variety of pies and cakes.
Jerry Christensen accompanied
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Thomson and
family to Medicine Lake, Mont.,
to visit at the Don Rossmeier
home over the Memorial Day
weekend.
Vacation Bible school began
Monday morning at the Assump
tion BVM church. Two Sisters
from Norfolk came Saturday to
instruct the children.

school held their program Fri
day night, June 1.

Sunday night. Sunday school sup
erintendent, Mrs. Bill Black, was
in charge, Mrs. Helen David was
pianist and Jean. Mulhair lead
the singing.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred King and
family and Mr. and Mrs. C. A.
Moody plan to leave Saturday,
June 9, for a two week vacation
at the Lakes in Minnesota.
The Rev. James Bartek, pastor
of the Assumption BVM church,
Lynch, spent Memorial Day in
Omaha visiting his parents. It
was his ninth anniversary of or
dination and his mothers birth
day.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Alford en
tertained Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
McMeen and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer
Christensen to a dinner at the
Courtney cafe Sunday.
Mrs. Albert McDonald left for
Chadron where she will attend
summer school. Joan Birmeier
and Betty Mashino accompanied
her.

summer school at the Chadron
State Teachers college.
Mrs. L. Kalkowski, who has
been teaching at Bassett the past
year will attend the University of
Nebraska this Summer. She will
be working on her masters de
gree in music.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Greene,
Demming, Betty and Chipper left
Wednesday morning for Scotts
bluff, where they will visit a few
days at the Ray Davy home.
They will then leave for Arizona
State University at Tempe where
Mr. Green will enroll in Septem
ber to complete his master’s de
gree.
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Greene,
Denver, Colo., came Sunday night
to visit at the Bus Greene home
a few days. They also visited at
the Tom Fisher home in Lincoln.

tertained tne following Sunday
evening to a pot-luck supper, Mr.
and Mrs. Stanley Greene and
family, Roseland, Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Weeder, Mr. and Mrs. Glen

left Friday for Medicine Lake,

in the Max Rossmeier home in
Rapid City enroute home.
