Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Weller
and family returned Saturday
from a weeks vacation trip. They
visited his parents at Warrens
burg, Miss., his brother and fam
ily, St. Clair, Mo., and another
brother and family, Louisville,
Ky
Sunday guests in the Lloyd
Hoerle home were Mr. and Mrs.
John Becker and family, Hold
redge, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hoer
le and family, Clearwater, Mrs.
Jake Hoerle, Mr. and Mrs. Ken
neth Hoerle and Mr. and Mrs.
Edwin Hoerle and family, Cham
bers. Mrs. Lloyd Hoerle and Pat
ty accompanied her sister’s fam
ily, the Beckers, home to visit
until Memorial Day, when Mr.
Hoerle will go after them.
Those from Chambers attend
ing graduation exercises at the
Nebraska Christian high school,
Central City, were Mr. and Mrs
Troxel Green and family, Mrs.
Hamp Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Glen
Taylor and Kathy, Mrs. Mae Hub
bard, Mrs. Letha Cook, Loretta
Gibson, the Rev. and Mrs. Ear)
Schwenk and boys and Mr. and
Mrs. Vernon Thompson and fami
ly. Three from this community
were among the graduates. They
are Kenneth Taylor, Lloyd Thor
in and Shirley Green.

drove to Milford Tuesday of last
week to attend the high school
graduation exercises. Their grand
daughter, Charlotte Grimes, was
one of the graduates. They re
turned Wednesday.
Mrs. Dan Rowse, formerly, Ru
thie Smith, will be honored at a
shower in the Methodist church
parlors Friday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Green and
family, Albion, were Sunday din
ner gjests in the Glen Taylor
home.
Receiving baptism at the Meth
odist church Sunday morning
were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Durre,
Robert and Donald William Dur
re.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Peltzer,
Norfolk, and Mrs. Alvin Hankins,
Stanton, were Sunday guests of
their brother-in-law and sister,
Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Walter.
The Rev. and Mrs. Charles Cox
left Monday for a visit and to
spend Memorial Day with rela
tives in southern Iowa.
Anna and Herman Schipman
accompanied by Mr. and Mrs.
George Grim, Ulysses, spent the
weekend of May 19 with the Mel
vin Grim family, McCook. They
took Mr. and Mrs. Grimes home
Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Neilson,
Alliance, visited recently with
their uncle and aunt, Mr. and
Mrs. Leon Hertel.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Blair and
family, Omaha, and Faye Blair,
Lincoln, were weekend guests of
their mother and grandmother,
Mrs. Hazel Blair and Mrs. Whid
den. Faye Blair will remain un
til Sunday.
Travis and Michael Tomjack
Daytown, Tex., came the first of
the week to spend the summer
with the George and Don Came
ron families.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Starkey
and family, Springfield, Mo., are
visiting her brother and sister
in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Don Cam
eron and family and other rela
tives this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Turner
and two boys, Los Alamos, N.M.,
came Wednesday for a few days’
visit with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. William Turner, Chambers
and her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Leo Adams, Atkinson. The boys
will remain for a month visit.
Dick Fees, St. Paul, Minn.,
and his sister, Mrs. Robert Far
rier, Los Angeles, Calif., visited
friends at Chambers the first of
the week.

nesday for Billings, Mont., for a
few days visit with her aunt,
Mrs. Elma Kramer.
Rebekah Lodge No. 361 met Fri
day evening. May 25 with 24
members present. The Charter
was draped in remembrance of
a recently departed member
Mrs. Hattie Tibbets. Plans were
made to attend the district meet
ing to be held in Tilden June 1. 1
The following Charter members
were honored and presented a
corsage; Mrs. Etta Keller. Mrs.
Jane Spann and Mrs. Ida. Lam
bert. Those who served as “noble
grand" and continued member
ship for over 25 years were al
so honored. Following the Lodge
meeting a “Mother-Daughter”
party was enjoyed with 6 daugh
ters present.
Lunch was served by Mrs. G. H.
Grimes and Mrs. Glen Adams.
The noble grand. Fern Burtwistle,
served a birthday cake in honor
of those birthdays occurring in
May. Mrs. A. B. Hubbard and
Mrs. G. H. Grimes were asked
to decorate the graves of depart- 1
ed members Memorial Day. The
next meeting will be June 8 with
Mrs. Dona Carson and Mrs. Er
nest Durre hostesses.
