The brides, given in marriage by their father, appeared in iden tical floor length gowns of chaii tilly lace and nylon mile. The bodice featured a scalloped neck Lne and long sleeves that taper ed to traditional bridal points. The bouffant skirt of tulle fea tured scalloped lace panels. Ruf fles of tulle accented the back. Their veils were caught in petal caps of lac a with organza ros ettes t'uched with rhinestones. Judy McGill, sister of the brides an I Card Dather were maids of honor. They were nile green taf feta dresses styled with scallop ed neckline and pointed shaped princess style waists and match ing net veils. Joyce’s gift table at tendants were Mrs. Russell Mc Gill, Mrs. Leonard Havranek and Mrs. Neil Bjornsen. Mrs. Leo Kalkowski poured coffee and Mrs. Keith McGill pojred the punch. Each bride had a three tier cake, decorated in yellow roses and bells. They were baked and de corated by Mrs. Lloyd Tuch. Mrs. Leota Kayl cut the cake for Joyce. Janet Stelling Weds William Miller in Lutheran Ceremony Miss Janet Leah 9teiiing, daughter of Mr. ahd Mrs. Leo nard Stelling, Orchard, and Will iam Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Miller, Oakdale, were mar ried Sunday, May 20, at 2:30 p.m. in St. Peter's Lutheran church in Orchard. The Rev. Carl Pullman, Neligh, officiated. R:chard Slell ing, soloist, sang "The Lords Prayer" and "O Perfect Love’’, accompanied by Mrs. Robert Schwager. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of Chan tilly lace and nylon organza. The molded bodice erf lace was ac cented by a scoop neckline and long fitted sleeves. The flared organza floor length skirt was highlighted by a deep scalloped chantilly lace yoke. A small jew elled crown held the bride’s veil of imported silk illusion. She car ried a cascade arrangement of red roses accented with white streamers. Mrs. Robert Carley, Sioux City, was matron of honor and Sharon Stelling was bridesmaid. Their dresses were blue lace and chif fon with a bow accenting the V neckline in the back with a scoop neckline in front. They carried bouquets of white daises. Their head pieces were blue nylon flowered head bands. Darrell Miller, brother of the groom, was best man and Bill Paul was groomsman. Ushers were Jim Cooper and Kenneth Short. Following the ceremony a re ception was given in the church basement by the bride’s parents for 125 guests. Mrs. LeRoy Wort man, Mrs. Eldon Schacht and Janet Schindler presided at the gift table. Mrs. Kenneth Lush had charge of the guest book. Hostesses were Mrs. Bernard Schacht, Mrs. John Deines, Mrs. Cecil Moser and Mrs. Ferd Krutz. Mrs. Jim Cooper cut the cake, Mrs. Darrell Miller served and Mrs. Don Ryan poured the cof fee. Couple Celebrates 50th Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Chase, Por terville, Calif., celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Ap ril 22 at an open house hosted by their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Mernon Chase. The honored couple exchanged vows at the Presbyterian church in Sioux City, la., April 20, 1912. They were residents of the O’ Neill community for many yetrs before moving to Porterville in 1937. Four children were born to the couple, two of whom are living, Mrs. Fern Dillard and Mernon Chase, both of Porterville. They are grandparents of seven and great-grandparents of three. Two Receive Degrees Two area students, Donald J. Schmaderer, Stuart, and James A. Tangeman, Chambers, receiv ed their bachelor of science in ed ucation degrees from Chadron State Teachers college. Commencement Exercises Held Tuesday at Page PAGE — A large crowd ga thered at the Page Pubilc school auditorium Tuesday night for the graduation exercises for the eighth grade and the Page senior classes. Charlene Fusselman and Dick Linder led the seniors, Ben and Ren Asher, Loren Boelter, Jon Cork, Alvin CrUmly, Lyle Fre richs, Arnold Hall, Charles Hov ey, James Melcher, Marlyn Parks, Aletha Rutherford, Har lan Saltz and Linda Smith, to the stage while Jean Finley play ed the processional. The valedictory address was given by Alvin Crumly, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Crumly, Al etha Rutherford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Ruther ford, gave the salutatory ad dress. A musical selection was given by James Melcher, Dr. M. D. Evan of the W'eslayan University gave the main ad dress. Supt. Allen Gross presented the scholarships and awards to Ale tha Rutherford, who received the Regents scholarship which the Wesleyan University will accept. LYNCH — Marten Streit, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed ward Streit, has been named valedictorian of the 1962 grad uating class of Lynch public school. Marlene has been offered scholarships to Dana College, Blair and Creighton University. Omaha. An August 18 wedding is being planned at St. Patrick’s church in O'N'p-11. Mr. anil Mrs. Harold E. Waldo, Fairbanks, Alaska, announce the engagement of their daughter, Barbara Ann, to Jefferson E. Vore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ro bert E. Vore, Beulah, VVyo. Both Miss Waldo and Mr. Vore are students at the University of Wyoming. The Waldos are former Atkin son residents. A June 8 wedding is planned. Dr. C. F. Ulrich Dies In Wisconsin Hospital Dr. Charles F. Ulrich, Keno sha, Wise., 74, died at St. Ca therine’s hospital Monday night following a long illness. He was bom in Stuart May 14, 1887, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leo Ulrich. He attended school in Stu art and took his pre-medical schooling at the University of Ne braska. He entered Creighton University, receiving the Doctor of Medical degree in 1916. For five years he practiced at Valentine, and then went to the University of Pennsylvania for advanced study in internal medi cine. He returned to Omaha where he engaged in practice and also taught internal medicine at Creighton University. In 1929 he went to Kenosha to make his home. On August 30, 1921, he mar ried Miss Rose M. McGovern. He was a member of St. Mark’s church and the Holy Name so ciety. He was a member of the Kenosha and Wisconsin state med ical societies and the American medical society. He was a mem ber of Kenosha Council 973, Knights of Columbus. Surviving besides his widow are one son, Charles F. jr., Kenosha, three daughters. Mrs. Arthur Priebe, Tujunga, Calif., Mrs. J. Stracke. Sturdevant and Mrs. Thomas Copeman jr., Cbula Vis ta, Calif, one brother, William L. Ulrich, Atkinson and 13 grand children. Phyllis Ziska Named 'Miss Norfolk' Candidate Phyllis Ziska, Norfolk, daugh tir of Mr and Mrs. Bill Ziska, Stuart was one of nine girls cho sen as a candidate to take part in the Miss Norfolk of 1962 Pageant which will be held May 26. The contest is sponsored by the Junior Chamber of Com merce. The contest will be di vided into three divisions, bath ing suit, formal attire and a three minute talent exhibit. The winners of this contest wall rep resent Norfolk in the Miss Ne braska Contest. Phyllis is a 1959 graduate of Atkinson high school and is em ployed as a receptionist by J. C. Penny Company in Norfolk She was chosen as Miss Cosmetolo gist the year she graduated from high school. ST. Winners were Mrs. Bob Murphy, Mrs. Floyd Wilson and Winnie Barger. Mrs. Melvin Ru zicka was a guest. Refreshments were served at the close of the evening. Mrs. J. P. Brown Hostess Afternoon Bridge club met Wednesday for a luncheon in the Town House. Bridge was played later in the home of the hostess Mrs. J. P. Brown. Extension Club Meets Happy Homemakers Extension club met Thursday evening with Ardith Robertson, co-hostess was Delores Hoffman. Roll call was answered by spelling their last name backwards. After a lesson by Jean Hoffman and Luetta Dankert, lunch was served by the hostess. The next meeting will be June 21 with Delores Hoffman. Darlene Adams, re porter. Guild Entertains St. Ann’s Guild entertained St. Patrick’s Altar Society at a May Tea Thursday evening. Monsignor O’Sullivan was able to attend for the first time since the meetings were held in the new hall. All the women of the parish are urg ed to attend deanery meeting of the National Council of Catholic Women in St. Dominic’s hall in Ewing, June 14. The next meeting will be June 21 with Mrs. Henry Martin, chairman. Pritchett Discharged From Army Sp/4 LaVem J. Pritchett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charley Prit chett, of the 3rd Armored Divi sion Fiance Office located in Frankfurt, Germany, was separ ated from the Army at Fort Ham ilton, N. Y., May 12. LaVem serv ed three years. He returned home last Tuesday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Behrend and daughter, Kamie, Windsor, Cok>., will visit in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Allan J aszkowiak over the weekend. They are enrcute to Michigan. Schaffer left Sunday morning for Seattle, Wash., to visit the World's Fair. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Ray, Love land, Colo, will join them. Otto Sydow spent the weekend visiting Lester Sydow and Mr. and Mrs. Ervin VanCleave in Stuart. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pruden and son, Sammy, were Sunday dinner guests in the Sam Banks home. They celebrated Mrs. Pru dens birthday. Howard Staub, Bunker Hill Air Force Base, Ind., son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Staub, was home on a ten day leave. He returned to Indiana Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fetrow, Norfolk, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fetrow over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Godel and Gary drove to Chadron Sunday. WSG Elects New Officers Helen Martens was installed as president of the Wesleyan Ser vice Guild of the First Methodist church Monday evening in the home of Mrs. Vernon Lorenz. Refresh ments were served by Mrs. Reed Herley The next meeting will be in the home of Mrs Ivan Hurley, June 18. -James Lueken Promoted LYNCH — James T. Lueken, 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin A. Lueken, Lynch, recently was pro moted to staff sergeant at Fort Hood, Tex., where he is serving with the 1st Armored Division. Sergeant Lueken, a tank com mander in Company C of the di vision’s 13th Armor, entered the Army in January, 1957 and has served in Europe. The sergeant was graduated from Lynch public high school in 1955. His wife, Helga, lives in Killeen, Tex. .Alpha Delta Chapter Meets The May meeting of the Al pha Delta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma society met May 19 at 8.30 p.m. for a dinner in the Hidden Paradise cafe. Eighteen were in attendance. After the din ner they departed to the country home of Mrs. Fred Kernan where a Founders Day program was presented with Ina Faye Holmes as chairman. Duane .Miller Honored O’Neill Band Booster officers and board members honored Du ane Miller, band instructor, Thurs day with a luncheon in the M ami M cafe. They presented him a silver tray in appreciation of the work he has done with the band. Riley Elected William H. Riley, Fairbury at torney, was sworn in as Jefferson County Judge Tuesday. Mr. Riley will occupy the part until the next election. Mr Ri ley attended the University of Nebraska an<l Creighton Univer sity Law School. His wife is the former Marde Birmingham, daughter of Mrs. Hugh Birming ham and the late Mr. Birming ham. Honor Society At Chambers Is Installed The Chambers Chapter of the Na tional Honor Society was install ed Thursday by the senior offic ers from the O’Neill National Honor Society., In a candle-light ceremony, eleven regular and four probationary mem tiers were initiated into the National Honor Society. Senior members include Bale Adams, txr.-n Blake, Carole Hoffman. Danella Whitaker anil Venlta White. Initiated from the junior rlafw were Jim Krone, Janet Rickard, Donnie Swanson, Roger Wall.,, Ledeaa Weller and Elaine Whiting. Probationary members install ed from the sophomore class were Debbie Eisenhauer, Peggy Gerke, Lana Oetter. and Daria Waldo. Probationary rhembers may attend meetings and vote but cannot hold office.
