Towns represent ed were Niobrara, Lynch, Plain view, Creighton and Orchard. Two from Fremont, one the Assembly President, Mrs. Maude Christiansen and all District officers were present. About 75 attended. New district officers elected were Joyce McCarter, Creighton, president; Mrs. Susie Hoover, Plainview, vice presi dent; Mrs. Tillie Stevens, Or chard, warden; Mrs. E. Jones, treasurer; Mrs. Harvey Hol brook, Orchard, conductor. Lunch was served at the close of the afternoon session by the local members of the lodge. Mrs. Lyle Schleusner was a guest at the TTiursday Bridge club in the Mrs. Gordon Dray ton home. Mrs. Cecil Lee held high score and Mrs. Gail Brodie and Mrs. Lester Withee tied for second. Mrs. E. BiMce was also a winner. Club will meet with Mrs. E. Bright in two weeks . The Orchard High Seniors left here by special chartered bus Thursday afternoon on their sneak day. They returned Sun day. They were accompanied by their sponsor, Mrs. Carter and another faculty member, Mr. Cowling. They spent the first night in Hot Springs, 9.D., then continued through the Black Hills. Jack Classen purchased the Or chard Motor Co. from Wayne Lautenschlager and took posses sion Monday morning. Mr. Clas sen came to Orchard from Tilden in November 1955 and has been employed as a mechanic at the Orchard Motor Co. since that time. The firm will continue un der the same name. Mr. Wayne Lautenschlager purchased the Orchard Livestock Commission Co. sometime ago and will con tinue to operate this business. Mr F. F. Oeoree presented his I re-elect l J. Mr. George has Deen here 4 years, and is retiring at the end of this school year The school band played several numbers. The Band presented a gift as a token of appreciation. Mr. Cow ling presented the vocal soloists and groups. The Band Mothers then sponsored a social hour in the gym. Coffee, pop and pie were sold. Mr. and Mrs. John Napier, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Shrader and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Napier dined at Harolds club, Oakdale, Satur day evening in honor of the ladies birthdays which were in April Mr. and Mrs. Arlen Miller and family were supper guests Wed nesday in the Walter Miller home. Clayton Hoke accompanied Jimmy Nelson, Plainview, to Om aha Saturday to attend the Auto show. They visited the Robert Hobbs home Saturday night and Sunday, returning to Plainview Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pierson were dinner guests Sunday, April 29, in the Marvin Pribnow home. Mrs. Lynn Fry and Jack vis ited in Neligh Friday morning. Mr. and Mrs. George Montgom ery visited in the Robert Mont gomery home Friday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Miller and family were dinner guests Sun day, April 29, in the Archie John ston home. The Rev. and Mrs. Everett Keesler and family returned home Friday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Z. H. Fry visited Mrs. Millie Mahood Saturday morning. Pupils of the Riverside School district took part in the rural track meet in Ewing Saturday afternoon. Atkinson News Glen McClurg has been em ployed by the city as caretaker _ at the local Swimming pool this summer. He Succeeds Sewell Johnson, who has been helping out the past two summers. Mr. and Mrs. Irven Parsons and granddaughters, Barbara and Beverly Barnes and Mr. and Mrs. Guy Parsons drove to Ew ing Sunday to attend a picnic at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Parsons, honoring Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jutilla and daughters from Tacoma, Wash. Mrs. Jutilla is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Parsons. The Jutilla family expect to leave Friday for their home in Washington. The Atkinson Civic Improve ment Garden club was hostess to a group at the elementary school Monday night when Mrs. Jose phine Groff showed a film on flower arrangements and also gave a demonstration on making roses out of ribbon. Coffee and i^ooKies were serveu. Mrs. Elmer Spann was hostess to the Civic Improvement Gar den club Wednesday afternoon at her home in Atkinson. Roll call was answered with, “spring bulbs in bloom.” The program was giv en by Mrs. Robert Keating and Mrs. William Wefso, on bulbs, rhizomes and corms. A Chinese auction followed. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Johnson visited relatives in Dunning, Sunday. Emil Colfack and Charles Do bias helped Russell Hipke work cattle Monday. Mrs. J. W. Carlson visited her aunt, Mrs. Elmer McClurg Sun day afternoon. Catherine Vitt has accepted a position with the First National Bank in Atkinson to succeed Car ol Enbody who will be married soon. Miss Vitt is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Vitt, formerly of O’Neill. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Jungman were Sunday dinner guests of Leonard’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jungman. Mrs. Alpha Kirkland and pu pils celebrated the end of the school term with a picnic in the City park in Atkinson, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hewett, O’ Neill, visited with friends in At kinson Sunday morning. Little Charlene Beck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Beck spent several days with Mrs. William Wefso last week. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jungman went to Omaha last Thursday where Fred reported for a medi cal check up. Dr. and Mrs. James Ramsay, Jack and Cindy went to Hastings Saturday, April 28, wrhere they visited with Mrs. Ramsay’s .par ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Ray. They returned to Atkinson Sun day evening. Mr and Mrs. C. F. Small and Mrs. Fred Richardson drove to Norfolk Thursday on business and the Smalls visited their daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Fullerton and family. Mrs. Albert Lemmer returned home last Friday after spending the past three weeks in Philidel- j phia visiting with her son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. Mer lin Ottman, Scott and Shawn. Mrs. Otteman is remembered as Vivian Lemmer. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Horner An intensive brewing research program has been underway at Storz for over two years. The goal a difficult one: to make Storz an even finer beer than the Storz you enjoy so much now. Watch for further reports. They will also visit relatives in Washington before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Dunn, Omaha, spent the week end with her mother, Mrs. John Mohr and other relatives and friends. Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Carlson, Scott and Cheryl spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Wefso. Other Sun day dinner guests in the Wefso home were Mr. and Mrs. Nor man Hodge, Denver, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Runnels and Mrs. Elvira Smith, Stuart. The Carl sons returned home Sunday eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Richardson took their daughter to O'Neill Sunday afternoon. She returned to Denver with Mr. and Mrs. Nor man Hodge. They were met in O’Neill by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Witt and Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Witt and daughter, Burwell. The Witts daughter, Sharon, returned to Denver, where she is employ ed, with the group. The Atkinson Civic Improve ment Garden club reported a very successful food and plant sale last Saturday and want to thank all who helped. The Sunday Night Pitch club met Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Emil Colfack. Winners were Mrs. John Beck, LeRoy Hoffman, Mrs. LeRoy Hoffman and William Wefso. Calvin Coolidge, O’Neill, was in Atkinson, Monday, on business. (Airman 1st Class Donald Sla dek, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ladd Sladek, Atkinson, arrived on Eas ter Sunday to spend a leave with his parents, relatives and friends. Donald has been in England the past year and expects to be trans ferred to the Travis Air Force Base in California later this month. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hodge came from Denver Saturday morning to spend the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Wefso. They were accom panied by Alta Richardson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Richardson. Emmet And Community Dolores Tunender Mrs. Ed Winkler, Mrs. Elmer Schaaf, Mrs. Robert Cole and Dolores Tunender, officers of the Altar Society met in the home of Mrs. Robert Cole for a busi ness meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bauer and family called in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Marcellus and family Tuesday evening. School District 89 and 20 at tended the rural track meet in O’Neill Saturday, May 5. Mr. and Mrs. John Keogh and family, Atkinson, called in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tun ender and family Friday evening. Monday afternoon callers of Mrs. Agnes Heeb, O’Neill, were Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Babl and Jeanette and Mrs. Joe Pongratz. Mrs. Heeb and Mrs. Pongratz vis ited Mrs. Djane Pongratz, Dew ey and Debbie, later. Sherry Bauer, eighth grader of school district 89, was one of the students that made a tour to Sioux City May 1. Leisure Hour Pinochle club met in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eli McConnell Sunday evening, April 29. Winners were Mrs. Tony Weichman, Mrs. Len Ullrich, Charles Mlinar and Leon Beck with. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Mar cellus and family were supper guests of Anton Jirak, O’Neill. Victory Homemakers club met in the nome of Mrs. John Babl sr. May 2 with an afternoon luncheon.
