Page News By Mrs. Ben ft ■ her Annual May Breakfast Held at Page The annual May breakfast was held at the Methodist church on Thursday with 80 ladies signing the register. Mrs. Cordes Walker, chairman, greeted the group. A song by The Saltines (Mmes. Harold Freemeyer, Harold Heiss, William Buxton and Leila Snell) entitled “Have You Been in the Garden with Jesus?” opened the program. The theme of the breakfast “Ye are the Salt of the Earth” was carried out by the talks given by Mmes. Harold Heiss, R. V. Crumly, J. W. Finch and John Steinberg. Mrs. Walker then introduced Mrs. Frank Cronk, vice president of the King’s Daughters who an nounced that Mrs. Carroll French was awarded the special mem bership pin for this year. She will be honored when she and her husband return to Page. Mrs. Steinberg, vice president of the WSCS, was also introduced and she in turn presented Mrs. Harry Harper, recording secretary of the WSCS for many years, the special pin and award. It was also noted that Mrs. A. O. Weber was the oldest and Mrs. Robert Beelaert the youngest members of the WSCS. Another song by The Saltines “When Mother Prays” followed by the Benedic tion by the group closed out the program. Help-U-CIub Mrs. Clarence Finch sr. enter tained the Help-U-Club members and one guest, Mrs. Art Sufficool, Verdigre, at her home on Wed nesday beginning with a noon day dinner. The group did work for the hostess. Mrs. Alta Finch won the special prize. Mrs. Robert Nissen. teacher of District 23, held family night at the schoolhouse Monday night. Some of the pupils did solo acts and a playlet performed by the kindergarten through the sixth grades was the highlight of the evening. The whole school then sang “Grandfather’s Clock”. Bingo was played while lunch was being prepared with Lynley Crumly winning the traveling prize. The Junior MYF met Sunday evening with Rev. Linder acting sponsor. John Crumly had the devotions and the lesson given by Roberta Asher. Her theme was entitled the right to choose. Rev. Linder gave pros and cons on the subject. Jenie Nissen served lunch. Mrs. Evelyn Gray went to Plainview Friday where she was an overnight guest in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Keith Weyer. Saturday Mrs. Weyer took her to Yankton. She continued on from there to Keystone, S. D., to visit the nephew she reared, Virgil Chase and his family. She ex pects to be gone for several weeks. GGG and G club met Friday with Mrs. John Steinberg. Cards were played with prizes going to Mmes. Elsie Cork, Ethel Park and I. O. Woods. A brunch was held Saturday morning at the home of Mrs. Robert Van Horn in honor of her birthday. The self invited guests included Mmes. Roger Bowen, Frank Beelaert, Harold Kelly, Robert Prill and boys, Bertha Prill, Harry Van Horn and Mar vin Stauffer. On Friday Mrs. Harold Free meyer jr. entertained nine mem bers of the Chatter Sew club. The afternoon was spent visit ing. Mrs. John Sorensen will be the June hostess. Mr. and Mrs. Tony Schmidt, Bonesteel, S. D., were Sunday dinner and supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Roach. HOA dub HOA club met on Tuesday with Mrs. John Steinberg as hostess. All members plus five guests, Mmes. George Clasey, Otto Mat schullat, Duane Allan, Jessie Cronk and Elsie Cork were pres ent. The club voted to send a case of eggs to the Nebraska Children’s Home. Mrs. Alton Braddock joined the group for lunch. King’s Daughters King’s Daughters met Tuesday night at the Methodist church with 20 members and one guest Mrs. Barry Shaw, Wautoma, Wis. Rev. Linder gave the last chapter of “The Meaning of Suf fering’’. Mrs. Robert Van Horn had the devotions. It was voted to pay $25 towards Dick Linder’s trip. It was also voted to pay $2.50 to any junior and senior MYF member to help pay their way to camp. It was decided to sell greeting cards to raise money to buy a coffee maker. Mrs. Robert Beelaert and Mrs. Larry Heiss served lunch. Members from each of the three extension clubs of Page were among the group which attended the smorgasbord at O’ Neill Thursday. A saxophone solo by Carolyn Hall-1 man was followed by a song by Kay Nissen, Karen Kelly and Marlene Frahm, classmates of the honored guest. Mrs. Hernandez, the former Louise Harris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Harris, Page, was assisted in opening her gifts by Karen Harris, Karen Kelly, Marlene Frahm and Kay Nissen. Senior MYF was held at the Methodist church Sunday eve ning with Darrell Heiss their sponsor. Becky Beelaert had the devotions. A discussion and a questionnaire on marriage was held. It was decided that the last week in June the group will go to the Black Hills. Saturday the Junior and Senior MYF will go to Camp Fontelle to paint and clean up the area. Caroline Max served lunch.
