■fei * YiK Jane Jedlicka Weds William John Slattery In April 28 Ceremony ATKINSON — Miss Jane Nan cy Jedlicka, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jedlicka, Schuyler, and William John Slattery, son of Mr. Thomas G. Slattery, At kinson, were united in marriage April 28 in a 9:30 a m nuptial mass in St. Mary’s Catholic church, Schuyler. The Rev. Vic tor E. Herman solemnized the ceremony. The bride, escorted to the altar by her father, appeared in a floor length gown of pure silk peau-i'e-soie. A self-fabric bcw accented the sweep train. The three tier veil was caught in a cluster of pearlized orange blos soms. The bride carried a bou quet of calla lilies and stephano tis. Miss Eileen Bamber, Sioux Falls, S. D., friend of the bride, iimph-hi" up i - -* was maid of honor. Bridesmaids wore Catherine Ann Rutledge, St. Josei>h, Mo., Bernice Jedlicka, Leigh and Mrs. LeRoy Loseke, Ralston. They wore frocks of lilac organza over matching tafetta. Their bouquets were of roses and heather. James Slattery, Atkinson, bro ther of the bridegroom, served as best man. Ushers were James Bishop, Lincoln; James Smith, Omaha; Dr. Thomas Slattery, Omaha and Michael Harrington, Butte, Mont. F llowing the ceremony a re ception and buffet was given by the bride’s parents in the Oak 3rl!r;om. The bride, who attended Schuy ler high school and Duchesne College, Omaha, is presently em ployed by the district 66 school system in Omaha. She teaches the second grade. The bridegroom attended St. Joseph's high school and is pre sently attending Creighton Univer sity College of Denistry, Omaha. Couple Wed In Catholic Rite At Ewing Church EWING — Bouqjets of orchid and white mums decorated the altar of St. Peter of Alcantra church for the 10 a.m. nuptial mass and wedding of Miss Berna dine Rotherham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rotherham, Ewing, and Leo James O’Malley, son of Mrs. Lawrence O'Malley, Cham bers. The Rev. P. F. Burke officiat ed at the double ring ceremony. Mass servers were Danny Gra gert, nephew of the bride and Joe Rotherham, cousin of the bride. Mrs. Lewis Vandersnkk was or ganist. Vocalists 'Bill Lofquist, Ewing and Bob Koenig, Beaver Crossing sang “ Ave Maria" and • On This Day". The bride, escorted by her fa ther. appeared in a traditional wedding gown of silk faced peau fashioned with a fitted bodke. Its scalloped neckline was trim med with Alencon lace and bugle beads and had elbow length sleeves. Alencon lace and bugle beads were featured on a flat front panel of the floor length gown. Her bouffant veil of im ported English illusion was held in place with a regal crown of aurora borealis. She carried a bouquet of stephanotis centered with a removable orchid on a white prayer book. The bride wore a string of pearls with matching earrings, a gift of the bridegroom. Mrs. Lester Wood, Lincoln, sis ter of the bride was matron of honor and Mrs. Ivan Wright, al -.». so a sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. They wore identical street length sheath dresses of orchid silk organza with chiffon overskirts enhanced by a bow at the waist. They wore matching head pieces and carried a cas cade of white pompons accented by orchid ribbon. Gerald O'Malley. Chambers, served as bestman for his brother. Vincent Rotherham, brother of the bride, was groomsman. Ush ers were Larry Dowd. Columbus, and Eddie Rotherham, brother of the bride. Following the ceremony a din ner and reception was held at St. Dominic’s hall. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rotherham, brother and sister-in-law of the bride were hosts . Mrs. Frank Broadwesl, York, was in charge of the guest book. Mrs. Arnold Gragert, Al bion. sister of the bride, cut the tiered wedding cake which was served by Mrs. Dwaine Hcbbs. Mrs. Garald O’Malley and Di ana Dowd, cut and served the bridegroom’s cake. Assisting at the gift table were Mary Mc Enerney, Donna Murphy, Mrs. Dean Pofahl, Ewing, and Mrs. Russell Bredenkemp, York. The bride chose an orchid suit with white accessories for tra veling. After a ten day wedding trip the couple will make their heme on a ranch near Chambers. Mrs. O’Malley is a graduate of the Ewing high school and has been employed by Western Power and Gas Company in Columbus. The bridegroom is a graduate of St. Joseph’s high school in At kinson. He is now engaged in ranching. Shirley Svatos Marries Edward Read April 14 CHAMBERS — Saturday after noon, April 14 at, the Methodist church in Pierce, Mrs. Shirley Svatos and Edward Read, Cham bers were united in marriage by the Rev. Robert E. Call in a double ring ceremony. Attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Krue ger, Osmond. After the ceremony a wedding sapper was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Ha vel, Pierce. The couple took a short trip into the south east part of the state. A wedding reception was also held Tuesday evening, April 17 in the home of the bride’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Maas, Chambers. They will make their home on his ranch south west of Chambers. O'Neill Locals Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Butter field attended the wedding of their nephew, Lavern Maynard, in Verdigre. Mr. and Mrs. LaVem Caskey and family, were Sunday dinner guests in the Robert Wood hom$ near Page. Mrs. Albert Noelle and Shirley went to Omaha Sunday where they boarded an airplane to Den mark where Mrs. Noelle’s hus band is stationed. Mrs. Charlie King, Missouri Valley, la., has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Urban, since Wednesday, April 25. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fetrow, Norfolk^ visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fetrow and Nancy, over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Don Godel and family, Winner, S. D., were week end guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Godel and Gary. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Brady, Grand Island, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kurtz, over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Minton sr., returned Sunday from a 10 day trip. They accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Joe Judge of Atkinson to Conception, Mo., to visit Rev. Emmanuel (Judge) and to visit Sister M. Gerald at Kansas City, Kan. and Sister M. Gervase at Seneca, Kan. The Mintons visited their son, Richard and family at Olathe, Kan. while Mr. and Mrs. Judge visited their daughter, Mrs. Nelson Blohm and family at Tulsa, Okla. Sgt. and Mrs. Alvin Lofquest spent the Easter weekend with his mother, Mrs. Lottie Lofquest and his grandmother, Mrs. Vina Munson. He also visited his sis ter, Mrs. Duane Philbrick and family. Sgt. Lofquest is stationed in Grand Forks, N. D. He had been in California. Mrs. uiaays cunningnam ana Mrs. J. Leo Moore 9unday at tended a district meeting of Vet erans of World War I and Aux iliary at Norfolk. Both women are department color bearers. About 250 persons including all department officers attended the meeting and ban quet at the Madison hotel. Former Republican representa tive Bob Harrison, Norfolk, was featured speaker. Mr. and Mrs. Ferrill Rusch and daughters, Elaine and Nancy, Russell, Kan., spent Easter vis iting her sister, Mr. and Mrs. William O’Connor, O’Neill, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Van Fleet and family, Plainview. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Peregoy and family, At kinson, were also guests. The 9 FF bridge club met fcr 7 p.m. dinner in the M & M cafe. Bridge was played in the home of the hostess, Mrs. Harold Weier. Mrs. Harrison Bridge and Mrs. Ed Verzal were the winners. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clint Raegge were Mrs. Layne Flanagan and son, Mea dow Grove, and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ruegge and daughter, O’ Neill. Guests visiting from Mon day until Wednesday were Mrs. Herb Heckman and Mrs .Ann Flanagan, Norfolk, sisters of Mrs. Ruegge. Arriving Friday to visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Pruss were Mrs. Vince Kelly of Omaha, Mrs. Martha Kopp of Atlantic, la. and Mrs. Lyle Wolluber and children of Anita, la. Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Fuchs of Des Moines, la., and Mrs. Melvin Snyder of Lake View, la., came Saturday. The women are sisters of Mrs. Pruss and Mr. Fuchs is her bro ther. Their mother, Mrs. Eliza beth Slater, has spent the win ter in the Pruss home and the group came for a family gather ing. They returned to their home Sunday. Miss Chaffin Honored CELIA — Miss Frances Chaf fin was honored at a pre-nuptial shower at the meeting of Celia Homemakers Extension club Wed nesday afternoon in the home of Mrs. Mabel Hammerberg. Atkin son. Mrs. Garold Hitchcock recorded the gifts. Mrs. Mark Hendricks and Mrs. Merrill Anderson were in charge of entertainment. O'Monde Bridge Chib Mrs. Fred Appleby was hostess for the O’Monde bridge club that met Tuesday evening for dinner at the Tropical Gardens. Bridge following in the home of the hos tess. Mrs. Bill Mattera was a guest. Winners were Mrs. Ted Kyster, Mrs. Bill Kelly and Mrs. Chuck Fox. Waistline Whittlers End Contest Waistline whittlers club met Friday morning, April 13. This ended an eight week contest. The winning side lost a total weight of 2814 pounds; the losers 10 3/4 pounds. The largest single weight loss for the winners was 12 pounds; losers. 4 3/4 pounds. The minimum loss for the winners was one pound, and one half pound for the losers. One application for member ship was received. Loy Klingler, reporter.. ; Janice Kirwan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kirwan. Bris tow, has been chosen b> the Fort Randall Legion Auxiliary to re present Pickstown high school as Girls Stater. Miss Kirwan has participated in band, vocal and instrumental groups, and has been a soloist. She also attended All-State chor us in Huron this year. She has been Student Council representative for two years, and is co-editor of the Transit, which is the school paper. She has taken part in declam and is a Thespian. She has served on the library staff for two years. Miss Kirwan has been an ac tive pep club member and a cheer leader. In her sophomore year she was Carnival Queen candidate. Pam Shelley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Shelly sr. has been chosen alternate. Pink And Blue Shower Mrs. Fred Snoward was honor ed with a pink and blue shower Sunday at 3 p.m. Hostesses were Bharon Marcellus and Mrs. Ver non Passieux. Delta Kappa Gumma Twenty-one members of Alpha Delta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met at a dinner meeting in the Range cafe at Bassett Sat urday evening with Lorene Her man as hostess. Two new mem bers were initiated into the chap ter, June Childs, Ainsworth, and Leona Kilmurry, Atkinson. The next meeting will be at Hidden Paradise with Ina Faye Holmes as hostess. Surprise Birthday Party Mr. and Mrs. Paul Krugman held a surprise birthday party in their home Sunday evening nonoring Mr. William Hanley on his 80th birthday. The even ng was spent playing cards. Lunch was served and all joined in sing ing the birthday song to the hon ored guest. 4-H Club Meeting The Prairie Flats 4-H club held their first meeting April 27 in the district 60 schccl house. Sev enteen members were present. Leaders for the year are Mrs. Kennelh VanEvery and Mr.-. K m neth Hill. Projects were selected for the coming year Roll call for the next meeting. May 11, will be a favorite pastime. VFW Auxiliary Auxiliary post 936 held Its reg ular meeting in the court house annex Tuesday at 8 p.m Mrs. Carl Schenzel was elected dele gate and Mrs. Margaret Scofield alternate to the VFW department meeting to be held in Norfolk uj June. The bouffant skirt was fashioned with three scalloped tiers. Her fingertip veil of French illusion, trimmed with Chantilly lace, was caught by a queen’s crown cf crystals and aurora borealis. The bride car ried a cascade of white roses and pale blue pompons. Miss Shirley Green, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a ballerina length dress of French blue over acetate. The b d.ce featured a scoop neckline and cap sleeves. The bell shaped skirt was fashioned with a match ing bcw at the waistline. She wore a pale blue half-crown with matching veil. Her booquet was a cresent arrangement of white pompons with blue streamers. Dan Rowse, cousin of the bride groom, was best man. The bride groom and his attendant wore business suits with white carna tion boutonniers. Lanny Bailagh, and Vernon Woods were ashers. After the ceremony a reception for ahout 100 guests was held in the Garwood home. For her going-away outfit, the bride chase a two-piece ensemble of a white linen sheath dress and ^ black anl white checked coat. She wore black accessories. After a short wedding trip the couple will be at home on a ranch near Valentine.
