Sam Robertsons have started building a new home on the land they purchased last fall west of the Drive-in theatre. The well is dug and basement started. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nelson and Curtis, Crete, came Satur day to visit with their parents, and relatives and celebrate Cur tis’ birthday. Curtis was baptiz ed at the Sunday morning ser vice at the Methodist church, O’ Neill. Saturday evening the Rich ard Nelson family and the De wayne Anson family were supper guests at the George Nelson home. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Larry Quigley and family, Om aha, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Johnson, Mrs. Marvel Jean Bat enhorst and Lynnette, O’Neill, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Mlinar and Dale, Mrs. Helen Beck, Mrs. Lib foie Mlinar, Mr. and Mrs. Ed ward Mlinar, Mr. and Mrs. Duaine Beck and family, all of Atkinson, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Lockmon and family and Mr. and Mrs. Dwaine Lockmon. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell R. Doo little and family, Topeka, Kan., arrived Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Cowles. Mr. and Mrs. Doolittle left the children with Mr. and Mrs. Cow les and went on to Denver for a short vacation and will return to Stuart the middle of the week for a two week stay here. Airman 2nd class and Mrs. Bill Martine and Allyn left Saturday for Wichita to visit two weeks with his parents. Then he will return to Omaha where he will leave for Guam the first of May. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cadwalla der and family, Randy Pokorny and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Slachet ka were Sunday dinner and sup per guests of Mr. and Mrs. Don Cadwallader and family. Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Anna Chaney were Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Chaney and family, Ains worth. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Cobb, Pam and John spent the weekend in Omaha. Mrs. Joe Brewster, Steve and Janice drove to Omaha Wednes day to get Joe, who had received surgery last week. They return ed home Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cadwalla der accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hoffman and Danny to Lin coln Saturday. Mrs. Hoffman went to be with Darlene Hoffman during surgery. Mrs. Katie Papke and Anne So botka attended the church pro gram at Chambers Sunday eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. Gardner Gill, Tony and Judy were Sunday din ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dor lin Lockmon at Norfolk. Emil Olday, who is in the Vet eran’s hospital at Grand Island, fell and received a broken hip last week. Mr. and Mrs. Rollo Berry were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Moody, Ainsworth. Pack 182 Cub Scouts from Stu art attended the Scout Circus at O’Neill on Friday evening. Randy Pokomy spent the week end with Danny Cadwallader. Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Timmermans were Mr. and Mrs. Marlie Fetherston and family, Atkinson. The oc casion was to help Mrs. Fether ston celebrate her birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Olson en tertained five tables of pitch players Friday evening at the Pioneer school house. Prizes were won by Harold Goldfuss Mrs. Andy Moeller, Andy Moel ler and Lois Timmermans. The next card party will be May 11 with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Engler. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Colson en tertained three tables of pitch players Sunday evening at their home. Prize winners were Glen Cadwallader and Mrs. Jimmy Hoffman, high, Jimmy Hoffman and Mrs. Keith King, low, trave lers to Keith King. Mr. and Mrs. Don Cadwallader will have the next and last card party of the season. Carpenter The Bethany Women’s Associa tion met at the church Wednes day afternoon with nine mem bers present. It was voted to send $10.00 to the O’Neill Ministerial Association. Meeting closed with The Lord’s Prayer. Lanny La Rue was home from Hastings College last week to spend spring vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irwin La Rue. Dinner guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Catron, Cham bers, last Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Irwin La Rue and children, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Stone and children and Mr. and Mrs. Tim Read. They celebrated the birth days of Mrs. Catron, Lanny La Rue and Leroy Stone. Rev. John Hart was able to conduct services at Bethany church Sunday after spending several days in St. Anthony’s hos pital recovering from an appen dectomy. Mr. and Mrs. Irven Walter and family, Mapleton, la., and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Brian and Ken neth, Ewing, were weekend guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Walter. Family Night was observed Sunday evening at the Methodist church. The final Chapters of the church wide study was pre sented by Mrs. Lloyd Gleed, C. V. Robertson and the Rev. Char les Cox. Films were shown by Duane K. Miller. Lunch and a social hour followed. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Miles and family were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Vem Wil kinson. Mr. and Mrs. Lester McKay, Clearwater, were dinner guests in the home of his sister and bro ther-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ollendick Sunday. Afternoon vis itors were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ollendick jr., O'Neill. Mrs. Z. X. Marshall, Stuart, visited her sister and brother-in law, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Gil bert Sunday. Several friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Loeske Sunday evening to help Mrs. Loeske celebrate her birth day. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Blair and family, Omaha, were weekend guests of his mother, Mrs. Ralph Blair and his grandmother, Mrs. Whidden. Children receiving baptism were Charlotte, Harold and Shir ley Rockford and Katherine Ruth Logeman. Mr. and Mrs. David Holcomb, Aurora, were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Cooper. Mrs. Raymond Beed and daugh ter, Judy, went to Lincoln Fri day. taking their truck down for the Howard Beed family to use in moving their household goods to Chambers. The Howard Beeds are moving onto the place for merly occupied by the Roland Harvey family north west of Chambers. The Rev. and Mrs. Charles Cox drove to Ericson Thursday to do some work at the place they have recently purchased. Due to ill health, the Rev. Cox has decided to retire June 1st. They were overnight guests of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cox jr. and sons, Qrd. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gartner jr., Mr. and Mrs. Don Gartner and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gart ner sr. attended funeral serv ices at the Catholic church in Lynch, April 2 for Henry Maly, father of Mrs. Robert Gartner sr. The Alvin and Alice Johnson sale Wednesday drew a good crowd and prices were reported to have been satisfactory. The American Legion Auxiliary serv ed lunch to the crowd. They re port a net of $51.00. Relatives here have received word that Mrs. Wood Jarman, who, with her husband, are visit ing in the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Jarman and family, Ft.. Collins, Colo., fell and broke her hip. The Jarmans had been in Colorado about a week. The Junior MYF will have a sunrise service and breakfast in the Methodist church Easter morning. Mrs. Lloyd Gleed returned home Friday from Lincoln where she had been visiting her daugh ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Blevin and getting ac quainted with her new grand daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Lubken and sons, Lincoln, came Friday night and spent until Tuesday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Beed and Judy. The Lubkens left Lincoln Sunday for Los Angeles, Calif, where they will make their home. Mr. Lub ken, an accountant, has accept ed a position in a bank there. Alfred Walter jr. went to Ro chester, Minn. Thursday for a medical checkup. He returned Saturday. The senior class of the Cham bers high school will present their class play Friday evening April 27 in the school auditorium. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Stahly, Milford, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Alderson recently. Mrs. C. V. Robertson entered St. Anthony’s hospital Friday. St. Paul’s Ladies Aid met at the church basement Thursday with 17 members, one visitor and two children present. Roll call was answered by giving a favor ite Easter Bible passage. The World Relief sewing project should be in by May 1. The Aid will serve Layman’s conference May 14. Mrs. Charlotte Honeywell was a dinner guest Sunday in the Albert Harkins home. Mrs. Vince Streeter and chil dren, O’Neill, were Sunday eve ning callers in the John Honey well home. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hoerle and Patty moved back to the farm last Monday after spending the winter in Chambers in the Hattie Tib bets residence. Fred Kin* Lynch Girl To Appear With Choir The a capella choir of the Miltonvale Wesleyan college, Mil tonvale Kan., began their tour Friday, April 13. Miss Eleanor Barnes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Barnes, sings alto with the group. She is a junior this year majoring in elementary educa tion. During the last concert num ber she will give a reading of the last two chapters of Revelations! They will tour for 10 days hold ing concerts in the following cities, Omaha, Cedar Rapids, la., Independence, la., Fayette la., Cedar Falls, la., Waterloo, la., Denison, la., Albert Lee, Minn., Minnesota, St. Paul, Minn, and Rochester, Minn. While there she at tended a service where Billy Graham spoke. Mrs. Wayne Major, Mrs. Da vis, Mrs. Bare and Mrs. Guy Barnes were Monday dinner guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Barnes and David, honoring Mr. Guy Barnes on his birthday. Mrs. Wilmer Sedivy arrived home Saturday, April 14 for a week’s Easter vacation. He is a Junior at the Manhattan college of Veterinary Medicine. The Rural Progressive club met in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ver non Dalberg and family Thurs day afternoon with 17 members present. Mrs. Kenneth Fish was a visitor. Mrs. Kenneth Johnson gave the lesson on “Care of Floors”. Marlin Barnes will complete his first year of college at Wayne State April 19 where he is ma joring in Science and Mathema tics. He will spend the summer at home. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Spencer, Mrs. Gratia Craig and Miss Iris Craig spent Sunday in Grand Is land visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Richards and family. Mr. and Mrs. John Derickson have spent the last three weeks at their farm near Dorsey. Mrs. Belle Martz and Marlin Lewis spent the weekend in Lin coln in the home of her daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. William Lee, About 20 young people from the Lynch First Methodist church plan to attend the Youth for Christ sunrise service in the Butte community church at 6:30 Easter morning. Mrs. Black, Mrs. King and Sharon Christen sen will take cars. They will meet at the home of Sharon Christen sen at 5:30. The Lynch group will sing a special at this ser vice. Mrs. Bertha Bare, Mrs. Gladys Davis and daughter, Mrs. Roma Major accompanied Guy -Barnes to O’Neill last Tuesday where Mrs. Major took the bus to her home at Riverton, Wyo. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Bare came Thursday, April 12, for a visit with his mother, Mrs. Bertha Bare and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Dalberg have recently moved into their new 3 bedroom ranch home northwest of Lynch in Mullen township. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hull drove to Crookston Sunday afternooon where they attended the funeral of Mr. Hull’s aunt, Mrs. Jess Hull. Burial was at O’Neill. Ser vices were held in O’Neill Mon day afternoon. Mavis Pinkerman stayed over night at Diana Spencers Thurs day. I 1 — Mrs. E. Hull was taken to the hospital Thursday night following a heart attack. She was able to go home Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Boeder, Verdigre, were at the hospital to visit Mrs. Hull Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Bjornsen and family and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Havranek and family enjoyed a steak dinner at the Leo Kalkowaki home. Mrs. Neil Bjornsen. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Halva and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Halva visited Frank Halva, Gregory. He has been in the Gregory hospital the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Blair and two children recently moved to the George Mellor farm. Mr. Gaylen Hull, Rensen, la., came Wednesday and Levina Manson, Smithland, la., arrived Sunday. They are visiting at the Loyal Hull home and plan to return to Iowa Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Loyal Hull and Bill HU11 went to Valentine to visit Mrs. Arch Hull who died later that day.
