Riverside News By Mr*. Lionel Gutter The Jolly Workers club met with Mrs. Web Napier Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Emily Johnston and Mrs. Robert McDaniel were co-hostesses. There were 10 wo men present and they quilted bab by quilts and embroidered quilt blocks for the hostess. They will meet with Mrs. Charles Rother ham in April. Women from the Riverside Free Methodist church assisted the United Presbyterian and Methodist and Church of the Naz arene women with the World Day of Prayer Friday afternoon at the United Presbyterian church. Mr. and Mrs. jerry Meyer and son, Wisner, and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Trease and sons were dinner guests Tuesday at the Ru dy Ahli-rs home ui honor of Mrs. Ahlers’ birthday anniversary. Keith Biddlecome spent the weekend with reiatives. Mrs. Z. H. Fry was a dinner guett Friday of Mrs. Kitty Fry. Mrs. Alfred Napier called oa Mrs. I). A. A play was pre sented and the choir gave a special number by speaking their parts. Couples pitch club met at the Richard Knapp borne Sunday eve ning, Mar. 4. Mr. and Mrs. Ho mer Barton were guests. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Nelson held high scores, the Bartons low. Mrs. Nelson received game. Club will meet in two weeks at the Wayne La utensch lager home. Mrs Loren Wilson entertained the Kozy Komer Klub at her home Wednesday, Mar. 7. Guests present were Mrs. Hugh Tro shynski and Teddy and Mrs. Ag nes Beannger. Mmes. Carroll Clifton and James Clifton served lunch. A new date was set for the dinner meeting, March 23, wea ther permitting. The husbands will be guests at the dinner. Club will meet with Mrs. Lester Withee April 4. The Band Mothers had a band uniform to examine when they met Wednesday evening at the schiKdhou.se. A uniform will be made up In the school co lors, black and orange, before the next meeting. A special committee will then meet to decide what changes need to be made. Plans now are to have new uniforms before scho<d be gins in the fall. Mmes. Keith Thelander and Mrs. Duane Lenz served lunch. Mrs. Millie Mahood was hos tess to the Thursday bridge chib. Mrs. Gurney Drayton, Mrs. Al len Hill, Mrs. Lester Withee and Mrs. E. Bruce won prizes. Mrs. Cecil Lee will entertain in two weeks. Royal News By Mr*. R. J. Hering At a meeting of the VVSCS with Mrs. Edna Johnston Wednesday, Mar. 7, 23 persons were present. Out-of-town guests were Mrs. Blanche Lingenfelter, Brunswick, her daughter, Mrs. Merle Lichty, Mrs. Duane Lenz and Mrs. Adah Clifton and daughter, Mrs. Har riet Clifton, California. Mrs. Bob Rader presented the lesson on missionary work and Mrs. M. M. Colson read a story bearing on the subject. The ne\t meeting will be with Mrs. Hans Hofer March 21. Mrs. Jakie Cole writes her brother, Russell Burch, that her husband has recently been trans ferred from Great Falls, Mont., to a missile base at Lewistown, Mont, where he is employed as a superintendent, having receiv ed a promotion. Mrs. Cole stated that the lowest mark the ther mometer has shown thus far is 41 degrees below zero. The senior class of six mem bers, Tom Rumiquist, Bruce Meisner, Jerry- Peterson, Max Heiter, Marlene Rader and Jean Peterson, accompanied by Supt. Louis L Carter, went to Lincoln to attend the state basketball tournament, and to do some sight-seeing. Members of the BTC club who spent a social afternoon at the home of Mrs. Edna Johnston Thursday were Mmea. Clarence Weber, Charles Meyer, Eloit Blackmore, Truman Kirby and Andrew Jensen. Mrs. Kirby will be the next hostess. Word has been received here to the effect that C. W. Roberts, Fremont, former station agent at Royal, recently submitted to surgery in an Omaha hospital. He has returned home for 10 days and will again enter the hospital for another operation. Miss Rudloff, who is a junior in the Verdigre public high school, was attended by Man. a lene Iskler, senior, and Mary Jean Pavlik, junior. Marvin Soucek, FFA president, and Robert Frank, treasurer, were in charge of the crowning ceremony. Study Baby Sitting Members of the Sugar ami Spice 4-FI club met for a recent regular meeting to study the proper methods in the care of youngsters while baby sitting.
