Mr. and Mrs. Tony Kaczor and family returned to their home in Omaha Sunday after spending the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Eva Kaczor, and other rela tives Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Eacker were among those who attended the supper Saturday at the Lu theran church in Clearwater. Mrs. Louisa VanConet and daughter, Nettie, Mrs. Alta Mey ers and Mrs. Ralph Eacker at tended the funeral of Frank Chey ney held at Tilden Thursday. Bur ial was made at Bartlett. Dewitt Gunter visited Mrs. Gunter at St. Anthony’s hospital Sunday. The lesson leaders, Extension clubs of the Ewing center, for February met at the J. L. Pru ilen home Monday afternoon where Mrs. Catherine Indra, Home Extension agent, O’Neill presented the lesson. Mr. and Mrs. Don Mackel and children, Elgin, visited Sunday afternoon, at the home of her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. James Ml narik. In the evening they were guests at the home of her sister, Mrs. Dwight Schroeder and fam ily Mr. and Mrs. James Mlnarik and Karen were s'upper and eve ning guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Finley at Page Sunday. MrN. Leon Allemang, Norfolk, the former Carolyn Tams, Ew ing, was one of nine Norfolk Junior college students who were on the first semester hon or roll. Mrs. Allemang is a graduate of the Ewing high school where she was also an honor student. She is the grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tams, Ewing. High score winner for the > Young Matron*’ pinochle club Tuesday evening at the Charle* Rotherham home wa* Mrs. Earl Wright. The prize winners were Mrs. William J. Boies and Mrs. Archie TuttJe. Mrs. Ralph Munn assisted the hostess in serving lunch All members were present. Cub Scouts, Den I, met Wed nesday afternoon in the recreation room of the Willis Roclcey home. Mrs. William J. Boies, den mo ther, was assisted by Mrs. Roc key. Den II met at the home of their den mother, Mrs. Ralph Munn, with Mrs. Ray Funk as sisting. New members of this group are Michael Regan, Michael Thramer, Max Kropp and George Van Conet. “Knights of Old” is the study for January. The Cubs who are making shields and swords, hope to finish these at their January 31 meeting. Le on Spangler provided treats for I >en I and Mrs. Munn for Den II. Geraldine and Mary Ann Bauer spent the weekend with their mo ther, Mrs. Rose Bauer. They re turned to Lincoln Sunday. Mrs. J. L. Pruden and Mrs. Bob Pruden and son, Sammy, were guests Sunday at the S. M. Burtwistle liome . Don Pruden, St. Edward, was an overnight guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Larsen Sun day. Mrs. Alta Meyers had as her guests Wednesday her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Meyers and family, Oak dale. The Ewing “No Thank You” Tops club held the regular meet ing at the Anthony home at In man at 4:30 p.m. All members present. A five-jiound loss of weight was announced for the week. Group singing provided en tertainment. Plans were made for a party at 7:30 p.m. Febru ary 1. Anyone who is interested in the work of the club is invited to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rother ham and family went to Man hattan, Kan., to be overnight guests at the home of their son -in-law and daughter, Mr. and ■ l Mrs. Frank Agosta and daughter. The Rev. and Mrs. Lester Spragg and family and Mr and Mrs. Aubrey Wood surprised Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Davis and Marie Friday when they arrived to spend the evening and join in a belated birthday celebration for Marie. The hours were spent in formally. The self-invited guests served ice cream and cake. Tuesday evening guests at the Roland Hord home were Mr. and Mrs. George Montgomery. Dewitt Gunter celebrated his 77th birthday anniversary Thursday. In honor of the occa sion the following guests arrived at his home for an oyster sup per and social hour: Mr. and Mrs. Dewitt Hoke, Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Gunter, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Hord, all of Ewing, and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Switzer, Clearwater. Mrs. Dewitt Gunter, who went to O'Neill Tuesday for her regular check up, was entered in St. Anthony's hospital for care and treatment. Dinner and evening guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. An drew Olson Wednesday were Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Harris. The Try and Do Home Exten sion club met Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Don Ruroede with 14 members present. A pot luck supper was served. The new president, Mrs. Stanley Davis, was in charge of the business meeting. Other new officials tak ing office were Mrs. Ruroede, vice president; Mrs. Gary Tess mer, secretary; Mrs. Weldon Alexander, treasurer; Mrs. Jerry Rotherham, news reporter and Mrs. G. D. The Past Matron’s club and Star kensington was entertained Friday afternoon at the William Spence home in O’Neill. Officers for 1962 are Mrs. Neva Berg strom, president; Ina Bennett, vice president, and Mrs. Wilbur Bennet, re-elected secretary and treasurer. Routine business was transacted at the business meet ing conducted by Mrs. Waldo Da vis. Guests were Mrs. Paul Shierk, O’Neill, Mrs. Anna Spence, Atkinson and Mrs. John Gachis, Oakland, Calif. The fol lowing members were present: Mmes. Waldo Davis, Dewitt Hoke, Grace Briggs, Alfred Conner, Wilbur Bennett, Maud Brian, S. M. Burtwistle, and son, Leila Snell and J. L. Pruden. The hos tess served lunch. Mrs. Gertrude Davis was the honored guest at a dinner Sun day at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Davis. The occasion cele brated her 83rd birthday. Other guests were her son, Kenneth Davis, Orchard. Mrs. Grace Briggs had as her guests Monday afternoon, Mrs. Maud Brion, Neligh, and Mrs. John Gachis, Oakland, Calif. Mrs. Gachis is better known to the Ewing friends as Mrs. Sam Green who made her home in the community for several years. Mrs. Gachis has been visiting relatives in Texas. Attending a baby shower for Mrs. Ray Hurtig and son, held Wednesday evening at the Theo dore Hurtig home. Orchard, from Ewing were Mmes. Waldo Davis, Althea Peterson, Archie Tuttle, Charles Rotherham and Leland Welke. Mrs. Ray Hurtig is the former Karen Tuttle, Ewing. Guests Sunday at the Irvin Cloyd home were Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Brokaw and family of Nor folk. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rotherham, Bernadine and Eddie and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rotherham and fam ily went to Niobrara Sunday to visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Rotherham. Mrs. Bert Fink spent Monday afternoon visiting at the home of Mrs. Edna Lofquest. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Hobbs were dinner guests Sunday at the home of Mrs. Pat Hobbs and family. Duane Bollwitt spent from Tuesday to Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Urban. He attends school in Kansas City, Mo., and is home on sick leave. Dinner guests at the Urban home Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Victor Bollwitt and family and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bollwitt and Craig. Mrs. Ernest Norwood, who has been a patient for sev eral days at the Antelope Mem orial hospital at Neligh. was able to come home Sunday. Mrs. Dewitt Gunter, who spent the week at St. Anthony's hos pital in O’Neill, t-ame home Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Merlyn Meyer and son, Mark, and her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Rab bass and sons, Neligh, ami Mr. and Mrs. Delvin Rabbass and family, Fort Knox, Ky., spent Sunday visiting Elmer Rabbass at West Point. The Delvin Rab bass family left Monday to re turn to their home. Sunday evening guests at the Ben Larsen home were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Eacker. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rother ham were hosts to the Thursday Night Pitch club, January 25 at their home. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Shain. Mrs. Waldo Davis, William Spence, Mrs. Ar chie Tattle and Mr. Shain won prizes. Lunch was served by the hosts. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Clovd ac companied by her father, George Timmerman, Plainview, visited her mother, Mrs. George Timmer man at a rest home in Osmond Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd also visited her brother-in-law, Stan ley Wostrol, at the Plainview General hospital. He was injur ed in a farm accident last week. Mr. and Mrs. Merle Angus and daughter returned to their home in Lincoln after spending the weekend at the parental homes of Mr. and Mrs. Watson McDon ald and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd An gus. Sunday guests at the home of Mrs. Joe Tomjack were Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Tomjack, Califor nia and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hawk and Leo, Ewing. Evening guests were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kallhoff, O'Neill. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Davis and children visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Van Creager, at Mea dow Grove Sunday. They spent last week visiting with Willard Ingerson and Birdine Ingerson at Grand Island. Delbert Carl sr., and his mo ther, Mrs. Josephine Elston, vis ited Sunday at the Richard Will iamson home in Norfolk. Bernadine Rotherham returned to Columbus Sunday evening af ter spending the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rotherham. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Hord were Sunday dinner guests at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Al fred Napier and family. Mrs. Althea Peterson spent a few days at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Peterson, Neligh. They brought her to her home in Ewing Sarurday and remained overnight. Other guests Sunday at her home were Mr. and Mrs. El wood Peterson and family, Nio brara. Mrs. Keith Biddlecome and Mrs. 'Althea Peterson went to Leigh Sunday evening to visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hegr and family. Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Seeman, Norfolk, spent Sunday at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Po fahl and family. Many from Ewing attended the Golden Glove bouts in Norfolk. Jerry Jefferies returned to Om aha Sunday after spending the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Jefferies. Mrs. Ciflford Steskal was a Monday visitor at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will iams Hobbs and family. Eben Graf ft was the honored guest at a dinner 9unday at the home of his son-in-law and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Spang ler. The occasion celebrated his birthday anniversary. Mrs. Henry Reimer also vis ited at the Larson home Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ewald Spahn were Norfolk business visitors one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. Jewell Tomjack, Mike and Ray, Hastings, sjient the weekend at the Ralph Tom jack home. Mike celebrated his eighth birthday Sunday. Mrs. Fred Harpster visited Ro sa Coiner in Neligh Wednesday and Ann Mickels in Clearwater Thursday of last week Mr and Mrs Henry Reimer were Norfolk business visitors Saturday. Linda Larson spent Friday night and Saturday at the Tommy Kaczor home. A large number from here at tended the Golden Gloves tourna ment in Norfolk Wednesday eve ning. Butch and Roger Pofal and Dale Hixson from Deloit compet ed. Butch Pofahl and Dale Hix son, winners in the district finals, will compete in Omaha February 16 and 17. Roger Pofahl may be entered as an alternate. Stanley Huffman, Whitman, called briefly in this community one day last week. Mr. and Mrs Jewell Tomjack, and sons, Hastings, Tom Tom jack, Notre Dame, and Florence Butler, Ewing, were supper guests at the Ralph Tomjack home Saturday. Mr and Mrs . Henry Renner and Larry Fiscus, Norfolk, were Sunday dinner guests at the Jim Hawk home. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jewell, Dal las, S. D., visited at the R M Tomjack and Johnny Bauer homes S.inclay Harry Jewell and Mrs. Myrtle Jewell, Dallas, S. D., visited the R. M Tomjacks Sunday. Harry was an overnight guest and Mrs. Jewell stayed for a longer visit. Celia News Mrs. Merrill Anderson Leaders and lessons for the current year were chosen at the regular meeting of the Celia Homemakers Extension club Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Helen Beck, Atkinson. Mrs. Mil ton McKathnie was co-hostess. New officers presided at the meeting with 10 members pre sent. Mrs. Robert Hendricks is the president. New year books were distributed and the format for the 1962 program and budget was discussed. A survey and dis cussion on non-additive and ad ditives foods stimulated interest among the homemakers. The con troversial subject pertained to food products on the market to day as compared with those cf 20 years ago. Club members having birthdays in January were Mrs. John Sicheneder and Mrs. Hans Lauridsen. Mrs. Libby Mlinar was a guest at the meet ing.
