Schaaf at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Atkinson Saturday, Nov 25. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Harry J. Bose, LeMars la., formerly of Atkinson. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Schaaf, Emmet. The Rev. R. j. Parr officiated at the 10 a.m. double-ring cere mony. Miss Leona Kilmurry .play ed the wedding music and ac companied the vocal soloist, Miss Bernice Jedlicka, Leigh The bride, given in marriage by her fattier, wore a formal length gown of hand-clipped Chantilly lace and tulle over bri dal taffeta. The Elizabethan bo dice featured a scalloped Sabrina neckline lavishly embroidered in sequins and pearls. Long, crush ed lace sleeves carried the tra ditional bridal points to the wrist line. The voluminous skirt was tashioned of scalloped lace, with the overskirt falling over full lay ers of tulle caught up at the cen ter front with three lace roses. Alternating tiers of lace and tulle formed the very bouffant back. The bride’s elbow-length veil of French illusion was secured to a crown of imported pearls. She carried a cascade of red ros ses. Miss Betty Holzman, Sioux Sick and Injured CLEARWATER — Willis Hague, village marshall at Clearwater, entered the Antelope Memorial hospital at Neligh Tuesday for medical attention. . .George Riley returned from an Omaha hospital this week and is staying with his lighter, Mrs. Ed Watson. . . Reed Mummert, who recently un derwent surgery at the Metho dist hospital in Omaha, is recov ering satisfactorily at his home in Clearwater. . .Mrs. Darrel Pet ers has returned to her home following an appendectomy in the Lutheran hospital at Norfolk. CHAMBERS — Dick Porter, who has been a patient at St. An thony's hospital for several weeks, was taken to the Stuart rest home Monday. Dec. 8. City, la., served as maid of hon or Bridesmaids were Miss Mary Ellen Mulcahy, Greeley, and Miss Ruth Schaaf, Emmet. Teri Bose, niece of the bride, was flower girl. The attendants wore identical frocks of ice blue satin brodcade, fashioned with scoop necklines and cap sleeves. The elongated bodices were fashioned in front with flat self-fabric bows, topping bell-shaped skirt. They wore matching pillbox hats and carried cascades of pink and white mums. Gerold Schaaf, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Groomsmen were Dr. Richard P. Rose, Estherville, la., and Ray Schaffer, Atkinson. Ring bearer was Ricky Bose, nephew of the bride. Paul Seger and Larry Wewel, both of Atkinson, served as ushers. Immediately following the cer emony, dinner was served to thp wedding party at the K. C. hall. A reception was held in the af ternoon. Mrs. Richard P. Bose cut and served the cake. Mrs. Bob Tushla, Mrs Paul Seger and Miss Margaret Ann Seger assisted with the serving. The Misses Jo Ann Shoemaker, Annette Schaaf, Jen nie Foreman and Wanda Lane took care of the gifts. Mrs. Larry Donlin, O’Neill, had charge of the guest book. The couple en tertained with a wedding dance at the Chrystal Ballroom later that evening. After a wedding trip to Colora do, the coaple will live at 6648 Decatur Street, Omaha. The occasion was their daughter, Cynthia Marie's first birthday. Breaks Foot PAGE — Tom Melcher broke a bone in the side of his foot Tues day evening in the Page-Orchard reserves game. Melcher entered St. Anthony’s hospital Wednesday where a cast was place on his foot. Christina** Party Held The What Not Extension club met for a Christmas party Thurs day evening starting with a din ner at the Town House. The group then went to the home of Mrs. Vernon Carpenter. Mrs. Jake Hawley and Mrs. Carpenter had charge of the evening’s en tertainment which included Christmas games. This was fol lowed by a gift exchange at which time the "secret pals” for the year were revealed. The hos tesses served refreshments. Receives Medical Care VENUS — Bryon Finch was a patient at St. Anthony’s hospital, O’Neill, from Thursday afternoon until Saturday, for medical care of an injured knee. To Attend Dinner Marvin Miller and H. L. Mc Coy will go to Valentine Thurs day where they will attend a school administrative dinner meeting. The meeting is being sponsored by the University of Nebraska. Plan Dinner EWING — Members of the First Methodist church will have a no-host covered dish dinner Sunday following the worship hour service and the Sunday school. At 2:30 p.m. the mem bers of the Sunday school will present a Christmas program, un der the direction of the superin tendent, Marcus Pierson. Lester Spragg and family, was held Sun day evening at the First Metho dist church parlors. Among the 60 persons attend ing were members of the Clear water Methodist church as well as the local congregation. Christmas hymns and prayer opened the program, which was directed by J. Aubrey Wood, master of ceremonies. Merwin Olson, Colleen Switzer, Mrs. How and Luben, Curtis and Craig Ro berts, Mrs. Curtis Roberts and Mr. and Mrs. Wood participated in the program. A shower of gifts was pre sented the Spragg family. Mrs. R. Sedivy was surprised by a birth day song and cake in observance of her anniversary day. A no-host lunch w'as served. Mrs. Keating Named Prexy of Garden Club ATKINSON Mr.,. Opal Keat ing was elected president of the Atkinson Civic Improvement Gar den club for 1962 at election of officers held Wednesday evening, Dec. 6. at the home of Mrs. Wil liam Wefso. Other officers are Mrs. Agnes Spann, vice president; Mrs. Ethel Wefso. secretary, and Mrs. Evelyn Jungman, treasurer. A Christmas party was held at this time and 15 members en joyed a turkey dinner. Assisting Mrs. Wefso were Mmes. Leonard Jungman, Opal Keating and Irvin Parsons. Games and singing fur nished the entertainment. Larsons Honored At Reception RIVERSIDE — Mr. and Mrs. Don Larson gave a reception Sunday afternoon at the United Presbyterian church annex in honor of their son and daughter in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lar son, Lincoln who were recently married. Mrs. Lyle Larson presided at tthe coffee service and Miss Glenellen McDaniel served punch. Miss Linda Larson cut and served the cake. Barnes, Oakland, spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Rutledge and Mike. Tiie Rev. Charles Kamber left Friday noon for Toronto, Ontario, Canada where he has been trans ferred. The Altar society held a Christ mas party at the church base ment with 24 in attendance. The Rev. C. Kamber and the Rev. J. Bartek were also present. Games were played and gifts were ex changed. Sharon Mulbair was an over night guest of Karen Spencer Wednesday. Dan Johnson was a supper guest of Daryl Spencer Wednesday night in honor of Dar yl’s 13th birthday. Danny Havranek was an over night guest of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hull, Satur day. Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Craw ford and Steve were supper guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Albert McDonald and Boone in honor of Mr. Crawford’s and Boone’s birthdays . They also celebrated Christmas at this time as Boone entered the arm ed forces December 12 and will not be at home for Christmas. The First Methodist Women's society will sponsor a Christmas dinner at the Legion hall Thurs day, Dec. 21, for all families of the church. The society will meet that afternoon for a Christmas parry. They came to attend the funeral for Mr. Don ohoe s 20-year-old brother, Larry Mrs. Harlan Bradstreet Dies in California Mrs. Harlan Bradstreet, a for mer resident of this area, died Friday night in Los Angeles Calif. Her sister, Mrs. Lee Brady’ formerly of O'Neil), resales in Omaha, and Mrs. Bradstreet’s mother, Mrs. Charles Bare is a resident of Lynch. No further details are known regarding funeral services at this time. Services Held In Wyoming for W. F. Gemmill EWING — Funeral services were held December 4 in Lander, Wyo., for William Fayette Gem mill, 61, who died December 1 at 8:45 p.m. shortly after being admitted to Bishop Randal] hos pital in that city. Mr. Gemmill had suffered from a heart ailment for the past three years. Burial was in Mount Hope cemetery at Lander. The Rev. Barry Kimbrough officiated at the services. William Fayette Gemmill was bom in Ewing August 10, 1900 to Mr and Mrs. D W. Gemmill. He graduated from Ewing high school in 1917 and attended the University of Nebraska. Mr. Gemmill spent most of the first 50 years of his life in and around 1 Ewing. He served in World War I and was a member of the Ewing Methodist church. He was graduated frem the Creighton public schools in 1957 and in Septemlier that year he moved to Denver where he served as an apprentice in an electric firm and attended the Denver Op portunity school. After completing his four-year course he left for Boise, Ida., to begin work an a missile base and enroute was involved in a car truck collision during heavy fog conditions which caused his death. He is survived by his parents; two stepsisters, Mrs. Robert Wood, Page, and Mrs. LaVem Caskey, O’Neill, a stepbrother.
