Verdigre News

Halloween night in Verdigre
was cjuiet with only the little
folks and their many weird masks
visiting the neighborhoods and
asking for the usual ‘‘trick or
treat”. Marshall Miller had no
reports to make on damages in
Verdigre that night. He and his
assistants patrolled the streets
that night.
The annual American Legion
Post 259 benefit dance will be
held Sunday in the ZCBJ hall.
Proceeds from the dance will
be used toward expenses for
the Legion building which was
recently purchased on main
street south of the post office
building.
Ted Ward, vocational agricul
ture instructor, has announced
awards were presented to mem
bers of the Verdigre vocational
agricu'ture class at the Nebraska
wheat show held in Lexington Oc
tober 19. Winning awards were
Gene Marshall, Neil Uhlir, Mar
vin Soucek and Ronald Pavlik.
Among the Verdigre hunters
who shot deer are Melvin Thomp
son, a six-point buck. Eddie Hass,
Tom Chocholousek. Frank Novak,
Joe Farnik and Chuck Jarman.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Barta and
Mrs. Grafton Franklin, all of Ver
del, were business visitors in
Verdigre October 30.
