It was announced that initiation will be held at the next meeting with Mrs. Soren Soren sen sr. acting as initiation offi cer. The membership committee signed up 11 n<<w members. The Tarlaton men to be filled for oar hospital assignment. It was vot ed to send five pairs of knitted bedroom slippers and $10 to the gift shop Mrs. Calvin Harvey gave a report on civil defense and what rural people should do in case of an atomic attack. It was announced that October .’JO will be County Government Day in O’ Neill with the Lutheran women serving lunch this year. Mmes. Floyd Frahm, William Simmons. Calvin Harvey and Dim Nissen to help that day. It was voted to donate money or send gifts this year for Christmas to one of the Nebraska childrens home. A card party will be held November 12 in honor of Veteran’s Day. All veterans of this area are welcome whether they are Legionaires or not. Prizes were won by Mrs. L. Crumly and Mrs. C. Harvey. Hostesses were Mmes. Gene Mud loff, Lyndley Cruinly and Arnold Tikalsky. WSCS met Thursday afternoon at the Wesleyan room with mem bers and Mrs. Emma Dorr, Mil waukee, Wis., a guest, attending. Mrs. A. O. Weber was in charge of the devotions and lesson in the absence of Mrs. Soren Sorensen sr. The lesson was by Mmes. Jes sie Kelly, Elmer Trowbridge and John Steinberg. Mrs. Steinberg al so read a poem. Mrs. Trowbridge was the pianist. The business part of the meeting was conducted by president, Mrs. Raymond Heiss. It was reimrted that 14 from the Page church attended the semi nar in Ewing. It was decided that November 7 will be the day for the bazaar and dinner. There will be a plate luncheon at noon and dinner served in the evening. There will also be a gift table, food booth, fish jx»nd and candy booth. The Rev. Linder will pre sent over several meetings the book entitled, "The Meaning of suffering” to the King's daugh ters. After Christmas he will pre sent it to the WSCS The Kings Daughters would like some good used clothing to be sent to the needy. The week of prayer and self denial will be held October 19 and the offering taken for that day to be sent to the home of re tired deaconnesses and to Chris tian education libraries. Mrs. J W. Celia News Mrs. Merrill Andersaa Celia Residents Visit Relatives In Kansas State Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hendricks and family, accompanied by Frances Chaffin and Phyliss Lewis, left Friday afternoon for Kansas. Robert and family will visit relatives in Manhattan, Phyliss will visit her parents at Longford, and Frances will spend the weekend with Miss Buel, with whom she roomed while attending college at Milton vale. She will be present for Miss Buel's birthday. They all plan to return home Sunday. The Rev. and Mrs. Charles Phipps were Sioux City visitors Wednesday. Enroute home they were overnight guests at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. Wal ter Steinkamp, Wayne. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Meyer spent Tuesday evening at the Merrill Anderson home and en joyed the music of Lee Anderson and his harmonica-guitar com bination. Lee left Wednesday to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Anderson, and other rela tives at Long Pine and Ainsworth before returning home to Lincoln. Lee is able to get around again without the aid of his crutches. He suffered a broken hip some time ago while riding in a rodeo.
