Lynch Farmer Flurt In Fall from Horse LYNCH — Floyd Kelly has been receiving medical attention in the Norfolk Lutheran hospi tal for a broken leg, injured when riding horseback at his farm north of Gross, and the animal fell, breaking Mr. Kelly’s leg September 10. His family found him in the pasture, a couple hours after the accident, when the horse re turned home without him. Walter Seefeldt, who is celebrating his 40th year in the ministry, was guest of honor at a dinner and program September 10 at the English Lutheran church. A program was held following , the pot-luck dinner, and it was announced by the co-chairmen, F. E. Pierce of St. Paul’s Luthe ran church at Venus, and Gerald Ruroede, St. Peter’s church at Orchard. Participating in the program were members of the Walther League, the combined Sunday schools and the Ladies aid. Services Held At Stuart for Chris Westrom STUART — Funeral services were held September 13 in Stuart for Chris Marcus Westrom, 75, retired farmer and rancher who died September 10 at his home in Stuart following a lengthy ill ness. The Rev. A. J. Paschang of ficiated at the rites at St. Boni face church; also at rosary ser vices September 11 and 12 in Seger’s Funeral home in Atkin son. Burial was in St. Joseph’s cemetery in Atkinson. Mhris Marcus Westrom was born September 6, 1886 at Hamp ton, the son of Julius Westrom and Christina Christofferson Wes trom. He moved to Council Bluffs, la., with his family and grew to manhood there. In 1903 he moved to Plainview. He was married to Mary Krziza November 19, 1909 at Omaha. They lived in Omaha for two years, and moved to Stuart in 1911. Most of his life was spent on a farm 10 miles southwest of Stuart, moving into town 12 years ago. Survivors are his wife, Mary; four daughters, Mrs. Bernard Conway, Omaha; Mrs. Peter Caliendo, St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. Robert Keating and Mrs. Gerald Gonderinger, both of At kinson; eight grandchildren; one brother, Ben Westrom, Plain view, and two sisters, Mrs. Rud Rohacek and Mrs. Lee Johnson, both of Omaha. Devall Awarded Scholarship to Veterinary School MEEK — Dewayne Devall, graduate of the University of Ne braska last fall, has received a scholarship to continue his veteri nary education. Gene left Tuesday to return to camp after a short visit with family and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Worth, Wichita, Kan., visited over the weekend with Mr. Worth’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Worth. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Wray and daughter, Nancy, left Wednesday for Lincoln where Nancy will at tend the University of Nebraska studying agriculture. The Wrays returned home Friday after visit ing friends in Lincoln. Steak Fry Held Members of the BOA club were guests of Mrs. Virgil Laursen Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Laursen trailer home at Fort Randall Boat club. Following a steak fry on the patio, the eve ning was spent playing bridge with Mrs. Earl Hunt and Mrs. Verne Reynoldson winning prizes. One members, Mrs. L. Reynold son, is in St. Anthony’s hospital and was unable to be present. Flemings Honored EWING — Neighbors gathered at the Clifford Fleming home Sun day evening honoring them with a farewell party. Harold Young and family, Paola, Kan. Gene Turner left Tuesday af ter visiting several days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Tur ner and attending the wedding of his sister, Donna Lou in Omaha. Gene is stationed near Lakehurst, N. J. in the navy. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Woidneck and daughters and Mrs. Rosa Bowers attended a reunion of the Bowers families at a park in Nor folk Sunday. Mrs. T. E. Lord of Corona del Mar, Calif, was a houseguest of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Clausen from Thursday to Monday. The Clau sens and their guest spent the weekend at their trailer home at Ft. Randall. Mrs. Lord left Mon day for Ewing to visit relatives. Mrs. Lee Devereaux of Phoe nix, Ariz. arrived Monday to visit her mother, Mrs. Maggie Siders and her brother Everett. Visitors Saturday of Mrs. Rosa Bowers were Mrs. David Harder and Miss Margar et Havranek of Sioux City. The women are nieces of Mrs. Bow ers.
