Darrel Carr Family Home From California Vacation Mr and Mrs. Darrel Carr, Debra and Darla, and her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Peter, O’Neill, returned Wednesday eve ning from a two-week visit with relatives in California. They visited in Santa Barbara with her cousins, the Jim Soukup family, and then the Carrs went to Eureka, Calif., to visit his grand mother, Mrs. Nellie Holcomb, Lyle Holcomb and family and Mr. and Mrs. William Brinkman. Darrel also saw his great grand mother, Mrs. Gier, for the first time. Amelia News Bv Miss Florence Lindsey Stuart News By Mrs. Herb Skala Tommy Kohle Celebrates His Sixth Birthday A birthday party was held af ter school September 14 at the Stuart Community park in honor of Tommy Kohle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kohle, who was six years old. Quests were the boys in the first grade, David Mueller, Ricky Shald, Kevin Kramer, Ron nie Batenhorst, Terry Steinhau ser and Larry Dix. Games were played. Lunch of ice cream and cake was served. Those attending the Wallinger Addison wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Mick Chaney and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tielke and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Tielke and family, Mrs. Ervin Parsons and Mrs. Dale Barnes and girls, all of Atkinson; Mr. and Mrs. How ard Tielke and family, Sioux City; Bud Tielke and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tielke and son, Stuart; Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Wallinger, Om aha; Mr. and Mrs. Orville Clan ton, Grand Island and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Greenfield, New port. Mr. and Mrs. Rollo Berry were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Moody at Ainsworth Mr. and Mrs. Harold Butler, Plain view, mowed Monday back to Stuart. They purchased the Karl Bernt residence recently. Mrs. Bob Cadwallader and Di ane, and Mrs. Leo Slachetka spent Thursday visiting Mrs. Don Cadwallader. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cadwallader drove to- Omaha last Tuesday where they met Mrs. Cadwalla der’s mother, Mrs. Bertha Miile, Daly City, Calif. They were over night guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Everett and family at Fort Crook. Enroute home Wednesday they visited Jim Hoffman at the hos pital in Omaha. Robert Batenhorst was returned to Omaha last Tuesday where he is receiving medical tests. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cadwallader were Mrs. Bertha Miille, Daly City, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Stewart. Glenrock, Wyo.; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Appleby, O’Neill and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Cadwallader, Inman. Afternoon callers were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Fuller and Mrs. Herb Skala and girls. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Berry, Long Beach, Calif., were visitors a few days last week of Mr. and Mrs. Rollo Berry. Alfred is Rol lo’s uncle. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Butler and boys and Mrs. Jim Hoffman drove to Plainview and were Thursday overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Butler. They went to Omaha Friday where Mrs. Hoffman visited Jim and stayed Friday and Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Wallinger and son. Mr. and Mrs. Butler and boys visited Mr. and Mrs. David Moses. They return ed home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Timmer mans, Gene and Lois attended a family dinner Thursday evening at the Ivan Gilg home where Mr. and Mrs. William Wilbur and Dr. Mona Frick, St. Francis, Kan., were guests of honor. Mr. and Mrs. Kasper Harley attended the baptism of Karl Luther Harley Sunday at Plain view. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Gar wood were his sponsors. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Snyder and family, Ft. Collins, Colo., were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kasper Harley. On Satur day they all visited Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Harley and family, Plain view and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Ko pecky, Inman. Enroute home Sun day the Snyders stopped at Grand Island to visit her uncle, John Harley. Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cadwallader were Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Cadwal lader and sons, Atkinson. Mrs. Brtjce Hanshew and Lor ia, Lincoln, spent Monday to Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. G.L. Obermire. Mrs. Obermire and Brenda returned to Lincoln Fri day. Rita Obermire, Lincoln, spent the weekend at the G. L. Obermire home. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Cobb spent Friday and Saturday at Yankton, S. D., where they attended a Shetland pony sale. Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Cobb and Terry Cobb, Grand Island, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Cobb. Terry Cobb took his daughters home with them af ter they had spent sometime with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Cobb and Mr. and Mrs. LaVerne Clements. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Cadwalla der entertained four tables of friends at a pitch party Friday evening at their home. Prize win ners were Bob Cadwallader, Jim my Hoffman, Alberta Hoftman and Mrs. Bob Cadwallader. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Hoffman will have the next party in two weeks. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. A1 Holbrook were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schleis and daughter, Ma pleton, la. Mrs. Schleis and daughter remained for a week’s visit with her parents, latives in and around Stuart. Bud McClurg drove to Central City Thursday and returned Fri day with his wife who hod been visiting the past month at the home of her son, Delbert Brocke meier. A family dinner was held at the K. C. hall at Stuart Septem ber 17 in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Gallagher, Colchester, 111., and Mr. and Mrs. Meurrie Tay lor, Debbie and Karon, Belwood, 111. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Merle Armstrong, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wewel and Lonnie, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Kubik, Mr. anti Mrs. Ed Vogel and family, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wewel and Paul Allyn, Rudolph Wewel, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Timmermans, Mrs. Joesphine Timmermans and Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Timmermans and Lois. Mrs. Orland Fryrear entered Atkinson hospital last Tuesday evening and underwent major surgery Wednesday morning. Mrs. Fryrear is the teacher In the lower room at Amelia. Mrs. Duane Carson is substituting for Mrs. Fryrear during her ill ness. Mrs. Lloyd Waldo treated the pupils in the lower grade room to ice cream bars Thursday after noon for her son, Larry, who was having a birthday anniversary. Bruce Waldo received quite a had cut just above his eye when thrown from his horse while on his way to school Tues day morning. He was taken to a doctor and six stitches were taken to close the wound. Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Polenske, Norfolk, were Thursday visitors at Elmer Getters. Mrs. Polenske and Mrs. Oetter are sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nielsen, Rodney and Bradley, Omaha, spent the weekend with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Burge, Joyce and Bruce. Mrs. Tom Doolittle spent Satur day with her daughter, Mrs. Har old Fullerton, while Mr. Doo little and Harold were on a fish ing trip. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Skala, Fre mont, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Fullerton. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Foss, Til den, have been here with their son-in-law, Orland Fryrear, to be near their daughter, Mrs. Orland Fryrear, who is in the Atkinson hospital. Mrs. William Fryrear and Mrs. Link Sageser went to Atkinson Saturday to visit Mrs. Orland Fryrear and Link Sageser who are in the hospital. Vein Sageser attended an REA meeting in O’Neill Tuesday. The WMS of the Free Methodist church met at the home of Mrs. Glenn White Wednesday. Among visitors in O’Neill Thursday from the Amelia area were Frank Pierces, B. W. Blake Ott and Ralph Rees were Atkinson callers Friday after noon. Marcia Widman returned to Sioux City, la., Tuesday to take up school duties at Momingside college. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Thomp son, Edna and Adele were sup per guests Thursday evening at Stanley Thompsons. The supper was in observance of Stanley’s birthday anniversary'. Mr. and Mrs. Blake Ott were dinner guests Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. Gloria Landrum and Sally. It was a dinner for Sally's 10th birthday anniversary. Grandma Ott baked a cake for her. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Widman visited at Vem Sagesers Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Prewitt, Lori, Jerry and Steven were din „ ner guests Sunday at Clifford Clemens. Fred Adams, Hastings, visited over the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Barnett. Mr. Adams is a nephew of Mrs. Barnett. They all drove out to Glenn Whites Saturday evening to visit. Mrs. Maurice Kennedy under went major surgery at a River side, Calif., hospital recently. Maurice reported to his sister, Mrs. Edgar Peterson, that she came through the operation satisfactorily. Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Baker, O’Neill, visited at Arthur Hiatts Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Coolidge, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Coolidge and Kenneth and Mrs. Louis Harley were Grand Island visi tors Friday of last week.
