was re-elected chairman of the
ASC County Committee at the
County Convention of ASC Com
munity delegates. This will be
the sixth year he has served as
chairman. Prior to that he
served 15 years as a member
of County Committees and Com
munity Committee.
Mrs. Olive Everhart is spend
ing a few days with her son,
Harold Everhart and family at
Sargent.
The Orchard Garden club met
with Mrs. Cecil Lee Monday,
Sept. 4, with 13 members and
three visitors, Mrs. Lester Raff,
Mrs. Waldo Rodgers and Mrs.
Lester Withee, present. Mrs.
Hoyt Sirek, president, presided
over the business meeting. Roll
call was answered by members
naming their biggest garden
failure. Mrs. Lee was lesson
leader and the topic was, “Ice
land, Scotland and Brussels.”
Mrs. Lee showed a colored film
of plant life and flowers of these
countries, assisted by Mrs. D.
Lcnz and Mrs. Hoyt Sirek. The
hostess served lunch. The next -
meeting will he October 2 with
Mrs. Gordon Drayton. Mrs. Ted
Berry will be lesson leader.
The Ladies Aid of St. Peter’s
Lutheran church met in the
church parlors August 31. Pastor
\V. Seefeldt spoke on the dif
ferent mission fields. ‘‘Thank
You’s” were expressed from
Mrs. Duane Allen, Mrs. Henry
Keiser, Bill Mosel and Dale Rab
bass. The teachers reception will
be held in the church basement
September 12. A tentative date
for the annual smorgasbord was
set for October 3. Mrs. Kenneth

engineman, USN, son of Mr. John
F. Warner, Atkinson.
The Chowanoc, a member of
Service Squardron One, provides
salvage rescue and towing ser
vice for ships of America’s
Seventh Fleet.
Weighing less than 1.7(H) tons,
the ocean-going tug is capable of
towing a (50,000-ton attack air
craft carrier more than 2,000
miles non-stop.
Crewman of the Chowanoc will
have an opportunity to visit Hong
Kong and {Sorts in Japan, the
Philippines, Korea and Taiwan
during its current four-month
tour of the Far East.
