the Creighton City hall in Creigh
ton. Sixty-five guests were pre
sent for the picnic dinner.

Kicked by Cow
Esther Coung, O’Neill high
school junior, was hospitalized
Wednesday night for treatment of
injuries sustained when she was
kicked by a cow. She was re
leased Saturday from St. Antho
ny’s.
Enters Hospital
Evelyn Stannard was taken by
ambulance to Sioux City Wednes
day morning where she entered
o hospital for medical care.
Attending the BVM Assumption
dinner in Lynch were Mrs. Vivian
Martin, Mrs. Nora Harte and
Mrs. Rosa Bowers.
Mrs. Kenneth Waring went to
Omaha Thursday to visit Mr. and
Mrs. Maurice Waring and make
the acquaintance of a new grand
son. Mr. Waring drove to Om
aha 9unday and Mrs. Waring and
their granddaughter, Molly, re
turned with them for a visit.
Supper guests Friday of Mrs.
Rosa Bowers were Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard Larson, Plainview, and
Mrs. Vivian Martin.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Parks and
children and Mrs. Leon Sargent
returned home Sunday by way of
tlio Black Hills. They reported a
nice trip but quite cool there.
Mrs. Sargent had spent the past
five weeks in Gering with her
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Parks. They returned to
their home in Gerine Monday.
RECEIVES INJURY
John Grady, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Ben Grady was injured
Wednesday evening when he was
hit above the eye with a base
ball hat while playing ball in his
yard. He was taken to the doc
tor and six stitches were taken.

Mr. and Mrs. Ron Craig and
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Neville,
Flint, Mich., who have been vis
iting a week with Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Ruther, Inman, Mr. and
Mrs. Lloyd Liedtke, and Mr. and
Mrs. A] Liedtke, Chambers, went
to Omaha Tuesday where they
entered Mr. and Mrs. Al Liedtke
in the Methodist hospital for med
ical attention. Mrs. Liedtke un
deiwent surgery Friday. Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Ruther, Inman, and
Lloyd Liedtke went to Omaha
Thursday to be there when sur
gery was performed. Al Liedtke
is still hospitalized. Mr. and Mrs.
Ron Craig and Mr. and Mrs.
Donald Neville have returned to
their homes in Flint.
Celebrate Birthdays
Richard McIntosh, son of Mr,
and Mrs. William McIntosh, cele
brated bis birthday Thursday eve
ning at his home with several
guests for dinner. Richard was 10
years old that day. Peggy Dav
idson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs,
O. E Davidson, celebrated her
10th birthday Saturday afternoon,

tertained at the show, and cake
and ice cream were served at
her home later.

Breaks Arm
Pat Mahony, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Mahony, was an
overnight patient at St. Anthony’s
hospital September 5 for treat
ment of a broken arm. The in
jury was sustained while Pat
was riding a horse and held out
his arm to avoid hitting a tree.
The horse cut too close to the
tree and the impact fractured
the arm.
Club Met
The BBC members met Wed
nesday evening. Sept. 6 at the
home of Mrs. M. G. Trapp. Mrs.
Esther Harris was a guest. Win
ners were Mrs. Orville Nickeson
and Mrs. Donald Younie. Re
freshments were served.

Mr. and Mrs. John Berrigan,
who were married recently gave
a wedding dance at the American
Legion hall Sunday night.
Womens Club Meets
The Womens club held a meet
ing Monday evening at Hel
en’s Flower shop. Mrs. Helen Sul
livan gave a demonstrati<*n on
flower arrangements.
Carl Grosso III
Mrs. Delbert H i 1 k e m e i e r,
daughter of Carl Grosse, who has
been visiting here the last few
weeks while her husband trans
ferred in the service to Orlando,
Fla., was detained due to the
sudden illness of her father. Mr.
Grosee has been in St. Anthony’s
hospital since a week ago Mon
day, seriously ill. No change was
reported in his condition Mon
day. Mrs. Hilkemeier will remain
until her father’s condition is im
proved.
Club Dinner Held
A pot luck dinner was held Sun
day evening at the Country club.
Co-chairmen for the dinner were
Mrs. Marv Miller and Mrs. Don
Meyer.
Home On Leave
Pfc. Mike Spitzenberger, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Spitzenberg
er, arrived Thursday in Omaha
where his parents met him. They
returned to O’Neill where Mike
will visit with his family and
friends for about three weeks be
fore he has to report back to
Fort Bragg, N. C., where he is
stationed with the paratroopers.

visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Herman Meyer, and his sister,
Mi's. Raymond Dobias and fami
ly, Sunday. Mr. Meyer attended
the State Fair in Lincoln as a
representative of the State Game
Commission. He returned to
North Platte Sunday.

man, all of Atkinson, and Mr.

Labor Day weekend guest of
Mr. and Mrs. August Kramer
were Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Kra
mer, Omaha.

home Friday from Council
Bluffs, la., where she had been
with her mother, Mrs. E. L. Min
ter, while she underwent major
surgery. Mrs. Ivel Thompson.

daughter, had come to.
Clifford and Bad Clemens were
mowing and baling hay for Ralph
Rees and Floyd Adams Friday.
Mrs. Frank Pierce, Mrs. Delia
Ernst and Mrs. Berl Waldo were
O’Neill callers Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bligh vis
ited her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Pierce Sunday. They were
enroute to their home in Omaha
after a week's vacation spent in
Colorado. They attended the wed
ding of Charlie’s niece, Janet
Bligh at Norris, S. D., Saturday
and returned to Omaha Sunday
evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Lew Backhaus,
Mrs. Delia Ernst and the Lind
seys were O'Neill callers Friday.

Wednesday. They visited Link
Sageser at the hospital there.
WSCS met at the home of Mrs.
Lew Backhaus Wednesday. There
were 11 members present. Plans
for a dinner, to be served some
time in the near future, were dis
cussed.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Johnston
visited with the Lawrence Bar
netts at Greeley, Colo., over Sat
urday and Sunday and plan to
visit other relatives this week en
route to Holdrege, where they
will attend the Johnson family re
union the following Sunday.
Mrs. Ralph Adair was in Atkin
son hospital over the weekend for
minor surgery.

Dr. Bower Sageser returned to
his home at Manhattan, Kan. Sun
day morning, after coming here
a few days earlier to visit his fa
ther, Link Sageser, who is a
patient in the Atkinson hospital.
Mr. Sageser’s condition is about
the same.

friends stating she was able to
accompany tier daughter, Mrs.
Frank ltraddoek, to her home
at Watertown, S. If. Mrs. White

Boy Bitten By Dog;
Requires Five Stitches
Jimmy Hullock, eight-year-old
son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hal
lock, was bitten by a dog Wednes
day and five stitches wi re taken
to close the wound which was on
his face near his eye.
The city jx»lice captured the
dog and are holding it 12 days for
observation to determine if the
animal has rabies. The- mishap
occurred at the public school
grounds.

Equitable Life Assurance Society
of the United States in Estes
Park, Colo, recently. Harvey was
one of 26 agents in Nebraska
who qualified for the three day
expense-paid conference held at
the Elkhorn lodge. His son, Allen,
accompanied him to Estes Park.

Judith Jacot
at Verdigre
VERDIGRE Funeral .ser
vices were held Friday at the
First Methodist church here for
Judith Ann Jacot, 17, who died
September 5 front injuries re
ceived in an automobile accident
August 30.
Over 600 relatives and friends
attended the services which were
conducted by the Rev. David T.
Gustafson. The church choir, in
which Miss Jacot had been a
member, provided music. In
terment was in the Jelen ceme
tery west of Verdigre.
Judith Ann Jacot, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jacot, was
born October 1, 1943 at Verdigre.
She attended Verdigre public
school and was active in student
council, Pep dub, chorus and
Imnil. Slu- was chosen class
secretary and cheerleader for
three years, and during her
junior year was selected as
fiill's Slate representative.
As a senior she was selected
homecoming queen, and gradu
ated m llitio as salniatorian Dur
ing UJtitHiWil she attended Wayne
State Teachers college, and
began teaching District U'J, if>
miles west of Verdigre. She had
taught only three days when in
volved in die fatal one-car acci
