Hoffmans Visit Former Chambers Folks Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Hoff man returned Saturday night from a trip through the Black Hills and a visit with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Harve Schake at Edge mont, 3. D. At Rapid City they visited the Harry Myers family, the Richard Farrier family and with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Moore, all former Chambers people. On their way to the Hills Tuesday they stopped in Winner, S. D., to see Dean Farrier who operates a store there. They reported that Mr. Myers, who served as pastor of the Chambers Methodist church a few years ago, was very busy with church and civic work in Rapid City. Their daugh ter, Andrea, had just returned from the hospital where she had a small tumor removed from her left leg. The Hoffman children remained with friends here while their parents were away. He and his I wife and two children departed Sunday for his base where they have an apartment. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Tange man returned Friday from Man hattan, Kan., where they had spent several days with their son in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mi's. Willard Stanton and fami ly Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cox and baby daughter, Lincoln, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Tangeman, and his father, the Rev. Charles Cox, a few days last week and until Thursday of this week. Irwin Peltzer, Stanton, has been a recent visitor in the home of his brother and sister in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Pelt zer, and brother-in-law and sis ter, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Walter. Mrs. Dora Townsend returned to her home at Page the first of last week after spending a few days with Mrs. Sarah Adams. She was accompanied by Mrs. Adams, who will spend a few days there. Mrs. Marie Lybolt returned the first of the week from Bruns wick where she had been visit ing her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ansley Barrett. Mrs. Lybolt’s son, Jerry Lybolt and family, Chicago, were also guests in the Barrett home. Mrs. Halligan is the former Carol Hoffman. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Wilkinson were Thursday evening callers in the Les Miles home. Friday evening callers in the Vern Wilkinson home were Mr. and Mrs. Loon Hertel, Charles and Dean Green and Mrs. Ralph Blair. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Jarman took their son, Douglas, to Lin coln Mondav where he has en rolled at the State university. They were overnight guests of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ringle in Omaha. Several friends and neighbors gathered at the Emerson Loeske home Sunday evening to help Mr. Loeske celebrate his birthday an niversary. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Blair and family, Omaha, were weekend guests of his mother, Mrs. Ralph Blair, and grandmother, Mrs. Whidden. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lidgett re ceived a letter recently from their son, Kenneth, who enlisted a few weeks ago in the sevice. He is stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. The other two Cham bers boys, Day and Rickard, who left at the same time, are also at Ft. Leonard Wood. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Shavlik and Pam returned Sunday eve ning from a week’s vacation spent in Colorado. They visited their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Shavlik at Denver, and spent four days sightseeing through the southern part of the state. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Rouse and family were Sunday dinner guests of the William Turners at a "cook out” dinner. Arriving Sunday at the Art Miller home were Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Miller and Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Goddard, Portland, Ore. Lowell Miller and Mrs. Goddard are brother and sister of Ait Miller. Eighteen members and one vi sitor, Alice Johnson, were pre sent at the regular meeting of the Woman’s Society of Chris tion Service which met at the Methodist church Thursday after noon. Following a brief prayer service, the leaders, Mrs. Eugene Halsey and Mrs. Darrell Gillette, presented the lesson. The presi dent, Mrs. Gaius Wintermote, i.y- ■■ MU presided at the business session. The Fall Seminar at Ewing September 26 was announced. Mrs. Raymond Shoemaker read a letter asking for a special do nation to the ‘‘Upworth Village” home at York for supplies. It was voted to send $10. The meet ing closed with a prayer followed by lunch by Mrs. Alvin Tanee man and Alice Johnson, who as sisted in place of Mrs. Arthur Tangeman. The Rev. Charles Cox drove to Ericson Sunday to perform a wedding ceremony for Jan Shaw and Jeannette Barubee, both of Ericson. The ceremony was at 4 p.m. at the home of his grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. John San ford. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Thomson and daughter, Jean Marie, were Norfolk visitors Friday after ■ . * j" / "■ loon. Crawford and family were Sunday guests in the “Bud" Mitchell home at Redbird. The Rev.
