Emmet And Community Dolores Tunender Lower room of District 89 cele brated the birthday of Richard Schrunk, who was six years old, September <>. Games were played and prizes were given. Richard received a special gift. The teach er, Mrs. Chace gave each pupil a candy treat. A family picnic was held Sun day, Sept. 3, at the Atkinson park. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Vandenberg, Omaha, called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Winkler Sun day. Mrs. Rose Schaaf, Atkinson, called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Winkler Thursday. Karen Bose was a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Schaaf and family Sunday. Mis. Georgia McGinnis called at the home of Mrs. Bob Moore, O’Neill, Wednesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. A] Havranek at tended the wedding in Bloomfield of Lorelie Saunders and Stanley Fehringer September 1. They al so called at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Fehringer, Bloomfield. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Marcel lus, Nancy and Charlotte, called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. An ton Jirak, O’Neill, Thursday af ternoon. Mrs. Al Havranek attended a pre-deanery meeting at the M & M bakery September 8. The fall Deanery meeting will be held in Emmet at St. Michael’s hall October 24. Mr. and Mrs. Len Ulrich, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Beckwith were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kenney Ruggless Sunday to hon or Len Ullrich’s and Mrs. Rugg less' birthdays. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Marcellos and family, O’Neill were Thurs day supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Marcellus and fam ily. The evening callers were Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Marcellus and Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Marcellus, all of Stuart. The occasion was Donald Marcellus’ birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Raff and family, Omaha, called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bau er and family. They also were Sunday dinner guests there. South Side club met at the home of Mrs. Leon Beckwith September 5. Roll call was an swered by the members dis playing “Pictures with a His tory’’. Mrs. Beckwith show’ed slides on the trip they had made. Next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Kenny Rugg less October 3. Mrs. Bernard Pongratz visited Friday and Saturday afternoons with Mrs. Harry Lansworth and Mrs. Bill Grutsch, O’Neill. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Beckwith was on a week’s vacation to the Black Hills. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Marcellus and family called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Soukup, O’Neill, Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs Ray Tunender, Bob and Gene called at the home of Mrs. Joe Bender, Atkinson, Sunday night. A dinner was held at her home Sunday for relatives and Wednesday friends and neighbors dropped in throughout the day. Mrs. Nielson leads an active life doing her own house work, enjoys keeping her scrap books of clippings, and making rugs. She has cared for her hus band for several weeks after he suffered a broken hip in a fall at his home here. Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Patrick and son, Idaho, are visiting friends and relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Peter son, Hawaii, came the last of the week and are visiting Mrs. Peterson’s mother, Mrs. Lola Mapes, and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Byant Patras held a clean-up sale at their home in town Saturday. Mrs. Gjy Cooper, Kansas City, Mo., called at the William Luben home Thursday of last week. Harry Graham accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Charles Curtright to Lincoln Thursday, where he entered the Veterans hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Curtright went on to Weeping Water to the Stanley Wood and Don Luben families. Sharon Snider was honor guest Friday evening at a pre nuptial shower in the Methodist church parlors. Friends of the bride were hostesses to the 50 guests. Mrs. Harlan Haake, Mrs. Allen Peterson and Shar on Twiss were in charge of the entertainment. Mrs. Haake al so had charge of the gift book. Joyce Anderson, Mrs. Allen Pe tcrson and Sharon Twins assist ed in opening the gifts. The room was decorated in colors of yellow and white. Miss Sni der will be married September 24 to Lyle Larson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Larson, Ewing. Jim Workman has been dis missed from the Tiiden Communi ty hospital. His condition is im proved. Jim has been hospitaliz ed for quite some time. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Johnson and daughter, Des Moines, la., returned home after visiting friends and relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lucas, Bas sett, were visiting in Clearwater Sunday. The Lucas’ moved to Bassett, a week ago from a ranch near Rose. Mr. and Mrs. Don Bearinger, California, are visiting the Lloyd and Harold Bearinger families. Last Weeks News— William, Lela and Bernard Lu ben went to North Platte Thurs day where they are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ray Sanks for several days. Mr. and Mrs. John Rix and family returned from several days vacation spent in Chicago visiting relatives. Mrs. Elmer Maulding was a patient in the Neligh hospital over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Dean Curtiss and family left Monday morning for California when* they plan to make their home. The Rev. D. L. Braunersreut her, accompanied by E. Weyh rich, went to Seward where they attended a convention of the Northern Nebraska District of the Lutheran church. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Luben went to Omaha Saturday and then to Weeping Water where they will visit in the Don Lul>en and Stanley Wood homes. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Medcalf and family left Saturday for a few days vacation in Wisconsin. Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Hoffman and family returned Friday from a vacation trip to Yellowstone National park.
