Sam Baker, Sioux City, la., spent the weekend in the Floyd DeLong home. He returned to Sioux City Sunday, accompanied by Mrs. Baker and family who had spent a week in the DeLong home. They met the train in Grand Island Sunday night and brought his aunt, Mrs. A. F. Thompson, Oakland, Calif., to Chambers to visit relatives. The Rev and Mrs. C. Cox left Tuesday morning for Dodge City, Kan., to visit their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Fin ney. Mrs. Cox will remain for a longer visit. Bad and Clayton Johnson, Mil ler, S. D., and Larry Campbell, Seattle, Wash., were Saturday night and Sunday guests in the Clifford Campbell home. The Johnson brothers are cousins of Mr. Cambell. Larry is his bro ther. Larry remained for a week’s visit. Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Newhouse left Friday for Mount Pleasant, Mich., for a 10-day visit with their daughter, Kathern New house. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Stevens, Mrs. Rena Larson, Mrs. William Turner and Mark Gribble went to Grand Island Friday. Mrs. A. F. Newhouse returned Saturday evening from a 10-day visit with their daugh ter, Mrs. Katheryn Newhouse, at Mount Pleasant, Mich. They vis ited with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ressell at Park Rapids, Minn., and attended a ball game in De troit as well as taking other in teresting sight-seeing trips. About 20 members of the Youth Fellowship of the Methodist church and their sponsors enjoy ed a hayrack ride, wiener roast and watermelon feed Sunday evening at the E. R. Carpenter home. Chester Jungbluth, Beatrice, who has spent the past week working at his place northwest of town, visited his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Stestel and son and other relatives and friends at Atkin son Sunday. The Annual Mission Festival of the Lutheran church was held Sunday with approximate ly 180 persons present. The Rev. Norman Walter delivered the message at the morning wor ship hour and in the afternoon showed slides of his work in Formosa as a Missionary. Mary Ellen Gillette left Friday for Denver, Colo., to resume her teaching duties after spending much of her summer vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Gillette and Darrell Lee. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Gilbert returned Saturday evening from Tekamah where they visited about 10 days with their son-in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jack McAllister, and other rela tives. They attended a Pioneer picnic there where they met many old friends, Tekamah be ing their home maay years ago. The Womans Society of Chris tian Service met at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon with 13 members present. Mrs. E. R. Carpenter opened the meeting with a prayer service. Darrell Gillette led in the presentation of the lession on the Federation of Methodist women. She was assist ed by several women who talked on work of the society in var ious other countries. The vice president, Mrs. Steve Shavlik, presided at the business session, in the absence of the president. Mrs. Glen Adams presented the goals of the society. Lunch was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Joe Daas and Mrs. Lyman Covey. Mrs. Irene Campbell and sons, Garland and Gary Cambell, spent Sunday and Monday in the H. R. Farrier home.
