date according to Statute for
hearing on Budget. All members
present except Davis.
Meeting calk'd to order by the
Chairman. Minutes of the pre
vious meeting were read and ap
proved as read.
This was the time set by Sta
tute for Hearing on the Budget.
No one appeared.
Motion by McConnell, seconded
by Ernst to adopt the following
Resolution. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, there has been pre
sented to the Board of Holt Coun
ty, Nebraska, a duly certified
transcript of the proceedings of
a Special Meeting and election
held by the Electors of School
District No. 6 of Holt County, Ne
braska, on July 20th, 1961, where
in the electors of said School Dis
trict, have according to law, vot
ed to build a new School House
in said District at a cost of not
to exceed the sum of $15,000.00,
and to equip the same, and for
the irurpose of paying for said
School Buildings and equipping
the same, said School District
has voted to levy a special tax
in addition to all other general
school taxes in the amount of
four mills on the dollar upon the
assessed value of all the taxable
property, in such District, except
intangible property, for a period
of ten years, said levy and tax
to commence in the year 1962

WHEREAS, the Board of Su
pervisors have carefully reviewed
the record of said proceedings and
has found the same to be legal
and in all respects to comply with
law and has approved the same
in all particulars,
NOW THEREFORE, Be it re
solved by the Board of Supervi
sors of Holt County, Nebraska,
that the action of the electors of
said School District No. 6, be,
and the same hereby is ratified
and confirmed in all respects and
particulars, and that said record
of such proceedings shall be en
tered upon the records of the
County Board, and that there
shall hereafter be levied com
mencing in the year 1962, a spe
cial tax in the amount of four
mills on the dollar upon all the
taxable property in such School
District No. 6, except intangible
property, for a period of ten suc
cessive years for the purposes
aforesaid, and that said School
District shall be authorized to pro
ceed with the purpose of said
School House and the equipping
thereof, and that the School
Board be authorized to issue war
rants for such purpose, all as
provided by law.
Roll Call Vote was taken there
on, which resulted as follows:
AYES: Landreth, Dierking, Flood.
Smith, Ernst, McConnell. NAY9:
None. Whereupon the Chairman
of the Board declared said Reso
lution has received more than a
majority of the affirmative votes
of the whole Board and the same
was duly passed and adopted.

A special meeting of the School
Board was held on May 27, 1961.
Present were Albert Wasson,
president, Ralph 9chrunk, Secre
tary, and Edward Sterns, Trea
surer.
Thereupon Edward Sterns offer
ed the following Resolution and
moved its adoption:
Be it resolved by the School
Board of School District No. 89 of
Holt County, Nebraska, as fol
lows:
1. A special meeting of the vot
ers of School District No. 89 is
hereby called and shall be held
at the School House in said School
District No. 89 of Holt County,
Nebraska, on the 5th day of June.
1961, at the hour of 8:00 P. M. al
which meeting there shall be sub
mitted to the voters of said school
district the following propositions,
to-wit:
PROPOSITION 1:

within the district as provided by

The foregoing Resolution hav
ing been read, Ralph Schrunk
seconded the motion for its pass
age and adoption, and after dis
cussion the roll call on the ques
tion of passing and adopting the
Resolution was taken, the follow
ing voting in favor of the pass
age and adoption of the same:

voted against said Resolution:

The foregoing Resolution sub
mitted the foregoing Propositions

with 51 voters present.
It was then announced by the
president of the school board that
pursuant to a resolution passed
by said school board at a special

The School Board of District
No. 89 of Holt County, Nebraska,
met at the school house in said
District on the 5th day of June,
1961. Present were Albert Was
son, President, Ralph Schrunk,
Secretary and Edward Sterns.
Treasurer, they being all the
members of the School Board.
Edward Sterns then offered the
following Resolution and moved
its adoption, to-wit:
RESOLVED by the School
Board of School District No. 89
of Holt County, Nebraska, that
we are satisfied that all the re
quirements of Sections 79-422 and
79-423 and other pertinent statu
tes have been complied with and
that more than 55% of all voters
present and voting at said spec
ial school district meeting held
this date are in favor of the build
ing tax heretofore submitted.
Be it farther resolved that such
propositions and all the proceed
ings had thereon be entered upon
the records of this School District
and that the special tax levy so
voted be certified to the County
Clerk as in the case of other tax
levies.
The foregoing Resolution hav
ing been read, Ralph Schrunk
seconded the motion for its adop
tion, and after discussion, the roll
call on the question of passing
and adopting the resolution was
taken, the following voting in fa
vor of the passage and adoption
of the same:

of Holt County, Nebraska, do
hereby certify that on the 5th day
of June, 1961, at 8:00 P. M., a
special meeting was held in Scho
ol District No. 89 of Holt County
Nebraska; that said special meet
ing was called by the school board
and notice was given as provided
in sections 79-423 and 79-503 and
79-504, Revised Statutes of Ne
braska, to vote upon a proposition
to levy a building fund tax of five
(5) mills each year for a period
of ten (101 years, beginning with
the tax year 1961, said levy or
levies to produce a total amount
of $18,000.00 to be expended for
the following purposes, to-wit:
The building of a new school
house and the equipping thereof,
said school house to be erected on
real estate to be leased or pur
chased by said district.
We have carefully examined all
the proceedings pertaining to said
meeting and the vote taken on
said propositions at said meet
ing and are satisfied that all 11
of the provisions of the law, es
pecially sections 79-422 and 79-423
have been substantially complied
with and that 55% of all the votes
cast at said meeting are in favor
of such tax.
Such propositions and all the
proceedings had thereon were
thereupon ordered to be entered
on the records of said school dis-1
trict and we hereby certify said
special tax levy to you and ask .

Hoffman. They will be accompa
nied at the piano by Mrs. Hoff
man, who will be taking them to

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ernst and
Mr. and Mrs. Leon Hendricks
and family, Manhattan, Kans.,
arrived Friday evening and are
spending a few days at the Ro
bert and Mark Hendricks homes.
They attended the Ernst family
reunion held at O’Neill Sunday,
and the Robertson reunion Mon
day held at the Sam Robertson
home north of O’Neill. They left
for Manhattan Monday.
Mrs. LeRoy Hoffman and Mrs.
Emil Colfack were in O’Neill
Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Davids and
family, Knowak, la., were Thurs
day overnight guests at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Focken. Susan Davids remained
at the Focken home and ac
companied Mr. Focken, Karen
and June to Miller, S. D., Friday
where the girls will enroll at the
Sunshine Bible Academy. June

home. Their daughter, Phillis
Lewis, is teaching the McKathine
school. The term began Monday.

day after a couple of weeks va
cation. They went to Belle
Fourche where their daughter,
Mrs. Lloyd Whetham and child
ren, accompanied them to Law
rence Crawfords at Sundance,
Wyo; then to Saco, Mont., where
they visited Roy Haynes and
Mrs. Elmer Lamb. They journey
ed to Newport, Wash, via Glaci
er Park to visit Mr. and Mrs.
Wilbur Staples and family and
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Orr and
their son, Daryl Orr who has
charge of a watch tower. The
tower in which he works is 3#
feet high and the room is about
14 ft. square. In Montana they
have reported 525 fires this sea
son. They returned through Yel
lowstone Park and visited at the
homes of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Da
vid, Helen Lewis, Ronald and
Veldon Crawford. They report
seeing much dry country on their
trip.
The two children of Mr. and
Mrs. Kenneth Huston, Emmet,
are staying this week with their
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John
Schmitz while their parents are
attending one week of school at
Logan, U. Mrs. Huston received
a new automobile August 20 at
North Platte and was promoted
to district manager for the Tap
perware company.

union Monday at the Sam Ro
bertson home about 15 mill's
northeast of O’Neill. Those at
