Mrs. Hansen's Mother Is in Omaha Hospital for Surgery Amelia News Itv Miss Florence Undue; Mrs. Gene Hansen received word Saturday that her mother, Mrs. Rose Monahan, Atkinson, had fallen and broken her hip. She was in the Atkinson hospital, but transferred to Omaha Mon day to have surgery to correct the fracture?. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ryschon, Valentine visited at the Frank Pierce home Wednesday after be ing here to attend the funeral of their cousin, Mrs. Margie Sam mons. Paul Hiatt and his father, Ar thur Hiatt, were in Sioux City, la. August 7 where they had cat tle on the market. Mrs. Lloyd Waldo took her daughter, Debby, to a doctor in Atkinson last week. She was ill with the flu. Mrs. Charles Bligh, Mrs. Dick Brau and Mrs. Bill Cihal return ed to their homes in Omaha Wednesday evening after being here to attend tin* fanera] of Mrs. Margie Sammons. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bar nett and Connie and Mr. and Mrs. Weaver Brotherton, Greeley, Colo., were here to attend the funeral of Mrs. Margie Sammons. The women are sisters to Mrs. Sammons. The women returned with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ned Alderson, Chambers, for sev eral days longer. Mrs. Gertie Marcellus, O’Neill, and her daughter, Mrs. Ted Kee ney, Bellaire, Tex., were visiting Tuesday at the Art Doolittle home. Mrs. Edith Anderson and Mrs. Gertie Adair pajrered for Mrs. De lia Ernst Saturday afternoon. Flo rence Lindsey took charge of the switchboard for Mrs. Andersen. Mesdames Lindsey, Ernest Johnston, 9. C. Barnett, Blake Ott. and Ralph Rees were invited to a quilling party at the home of Mrs. Edith Andersen Thurs day afternoon. Mrs. Anderson served pie and coffee to the wo men at the close of the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Link Sageser •are both patients in St. An thony's hospital in O’Neill. Mrs. Sageser entered Friday and Mr. Sageser, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hiatt, Paul and Gene called on Mrs. Doris Baker Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Adams and son. Don, and Harry Ott, O’ Neill visited in Gering from Fri day until Sunday with the Ralph Barnes family. Mrs. Julia White, Atkinson, vis ited fruni Wednesday until Fri day at the liome of her nephew, Glen i White. She has been suf fering with a back ailment the past week. Her daughter, Mrs. Alta Braddock, Watertown, S. D.. planned to come Saturday and Mrs. White had intended to re turn home with her for a couple months. She was afraid she might not be able to make the trip, be cause of her back. Several 4-H girls went to O’ Neill Thursday evening to model the garments they made at the 4-H Style Review. Sally Landrum won a i«d ribbon. Vern and Bower Sageser were Atkinson callers Thursday morn ing. Billie Doolittle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Doolittle, has been ill with flu. He stayed with his grandmother, Mrs. Amy Slaymak er in Atkinson, a few days last week. Myra Adamson has been visit ing her grandfather, H. S. White, ami uncle, Glenn White and fam ily, the past week. Mrs. Glenn White and Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Barnett took her to Valentine Sun day afternoon, where she joined others to a youth camp in South Dakota. She is a mis sionary nurse home on leave from Africa. Mr. and Mrs. Leon a id Svatos and David were Saturday eve ning visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Dary Carr, Debra and Darla. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kissinger. Peten O’Neill, visited at Dary Carr* Tuesday evening. Mrs. Joe Stoecker plans to go to Alameda, Calif., the lat ter part of August to visit her son. Neal and family. Neal is in the navy and his time was up in August. However he has been “frozen” to the service for another year. Mrs. Stoecker wanted to be there to make the return trip by car with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Neal Stoecker and baby, Vicki Lynn. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Peterson called at Tom Bakers Sunday evening. Mrs. Elsie Doolittle and Micky. Stuart, visited at the home of her son, Marvin Doolittle, over the weekend. Mrs. Lynn Meyers and son, Timmy, accompanied her aunt, Mrs. Lovina Thompson, to Mc Pherson, Kan., Monday of last week enroute to their new home at Covington, Okla. Mr. Meyers came later in the week to get their household goods which were stored at the home of her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fish er. The Meyers had formerly lived at Seattle, Wash., where Mr. Meyers attended school. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Tesch, Lincoln, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Adair, Jerry and Diane visited at the parental, Art Doolittle home Sunday. Linda and Sandra Tesch, who spent the past few weeks with their grandparents, returned to Lincoln with their parents. Mrs. Clare Connors is in an Omaha hospital receiving treat ment. She had been visiting her sister, Mrs Gertie MarceUus in O’Neill when she became ill. Her son, Harold Connors, Gree ley, took her to Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Waldo and family took their nephew, Kirk Friedrich, to the Lew Sperling home at Cotesfield Sunday eve ning. He planned to go from there to Denver, Colo., to the home of his grandmother, Mrs. Frank Searles, and then on to his home at El Paso, Tex. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Peterson and Mrs. Delia Ernst went to O’ Neill Sunday afternoon to attend a family picnic of the curran family. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Curran and family, Minneapolis, Minn., were special guests. Mrs. Gloria Landrum and Sal ly moved to their home in Atkin son Saturday. Mrs. Landrum had been in St. Louis, Mo. for labra tory training as a technican, and had completed her course. She began full time duty at Dr. Ram say’s office in Atkinson Monday morning. She had been employed in his office before beginning this schooling. Mr. and Mrs. Hienie Frahm, and Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Krutz are spending their vacation on a trip to Wenatchee, Wash., and other western points. They will visit Mrs. Frahm’s sister, Mrs. . Elvm Welton and family in Wash ington. Mrs. Lindsey and Florence were Atkinson callers Friday. Mrs. Delbert Edwards called at the Charles McMillan home in Atkinson Friday to visit her mother, Mrs. Rosa Snelson. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Porter and son, Bobby, Thermopolis, Wyo.. were visiting in Atkinson last week with Mrs. Porter’s mother, Mrs. Eva Backhaus and sister, Caroline. They were in Amelia a short time Monday. They expect to return to their home Sunday. The telephone company has been busy installing telephone service to the Forrest Iverson ranch northwest of Atkinson this past week. The Atkinson Civic Improve ment Garden club met at the city park last Wednesday for their regular meeting. The next meet ing will be held August 23 at the home of Mrs. Frank Skrdla. Mr. and Mrs. John Beck and family returned home last Thurs day after a two-weeks vacation to several western states. Mr. and Mrs. Labern Cadwal lader and boys and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cadwallader, Stuart, re turned last Monday from River ton, Wyo., where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Cadwallader and family.
