day because of the dedication of

Ickes to Gordon Saturday where
they were supper guests of Mr
and Mrs. Don Malmberg. Mrs.
Ickes remained overnight with
the Malmbergs. Dennis and Mrs
Troshynski continued on to Alli
ance where they were guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Powell. They
returned home Sunday, accompan
ied by Mary Jo Powell and Di
ane Kemper who had worked out
there all summer. They returned
to Gordon in time for dinner.

On Thursday night Mrs. Will
iam Buxton was pleasantly
surprised when she picked up
the phone and found herself
talking to her son, Richard, who
is a first lieutenant stationed in
Germany. He called to speak
to his wife who is here visiting
with the children from Omaha.
Mrs. Buxton expects to join her
husband in the near future.
Mrs. Frieda Asher entertained
the members of the SOS club
starting with a 6:30 supper. Cards
were played afterwards with Mrs
Hester Edminsten winning a prize.
Mrs. Kitty Fry, Ewing, spem
from Tuesday to Saturday at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Lee
Fink to help take care of the
new baby.
A picnic supper was held last

New York City, were weekend
visitors of Mr. and Mrs. W. S.
Simmons. Mr. and Mrs. Ron
Goin and Mark, Wayne, were
also guests of her parents.
The regular meeting of the
American Legion auxilary was
held Monday night at the Legion
hall with 19 members answering
roll call. The president, Mrs.
William Simmons, appointed Mrs.
Tony Mudloff as membership
chairman. Mrs. Lloyd Cork and
Mrs. Harry Thomsen wall assist
her. It was announced that Oc
tober 1 wall be the date of the
district convention to be held at
Pierce. The members voted not
to hold a smorgasbord this year
on Labor day but instead to have
a food stand. Hostesses were Mrs.
Kenneth Asher and Mrs. Calvin
Harvey. Mrs. Jerry Asher won
two prizes.
Mrs. Ben Asher, along with ot
her correspondents, spent an en
joyable afternoon last Wednes
day as the guest of Bill Richard
son. Frontier publisher, for lunch

Finch.
Dick Cork brought a houseguest
home for the weekend, Dwayne
Fleming. He and Dick are em
ployed at Tripoli. Ia. On Sunday
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Cork and
boys and Dwayne Fleming along
with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Fussel
man and family enjoyed a picnic
dinner on the Fusselman’s lawn.
In honor of Milo Landreth’s
birthday Friday night Mr. and
Mrs. Ray Harmon and family
were guests of the Landreths for
supper.
